Judge:

Miniature Smooth Haired

My thanks to the officers and committee for asking me to judge the mini smooths at this show. I enjoyed my day and was pleased with my winners. I thought that front movement had improved considerable since I last judged, but there were some untypical domed heads with round eyes. I feel there is still some work to do on back movement and this aspect made up a large part on my decisions. MPD (1) 1 Tydurcwrt First of the Gang. Nice head and reach of neck. Good topline and ribbing, moves with drive but needs to mature. PD (2) 1 Siouxline Tennyson. Good head and neck leading to prominent chest and pleasing front. Well ribbed. 2 Barisse Gentleman’s Relish. Lovely outline on the table. Just preferred the movement of the winner. JD (3) 1 Scalamour Solomons Seal. Looked lovely both stacked and moving and kept his topline at all times. Remained steady at the back. 2 Jondac Justin. Beautiful head and eye. Good front construction with nice shoulders. Moved forwards well but slightly wide going away. 3 Pyknikspring Sammar Helade. PGD (4,2) 1 Siouxline Thomas. Classy puppy, nicely made throughout. Good head and reach of neck. Nice ribbing, moved well front and back. Best Puppy Dog and Best Puppy. 2 Pyknikspring Sammar Helade. Another nice neat front, but more unsettled and not such a steady topline as the winner. LD (3,1) Kathington Chance N Counter. Loved this little dog. A real standard in miniature. Good bone throughout, lovely masculine head and tight shoulders and elbows. Such good balance and drive. Surely a future champion. Best Dog and Res Best of Breed. 2 Welcumen Cool Dude. Elegant little dog with another good masculine head and nice front assembly. Moved with drive but slightly more rangey than the winner. OD (2) Both nice dogs so a difficult decision. 1 Ch D’Arisca Dennison. Compact little dog with a pleasing outline both on the table and moving. Good front assembly, ribbing and topline. Res Best Dog. 2 Ch Welcumen Mr Cool. Larger dog but not such a steady mover, especially behind. MPB (2,1) 1 Minimead Maid Specially. Stood alone but a worthy winner. Pleasing overall picture, good construction throughout. Looked lovely in profile and moved out well both front and back. Best Puppy Bitch. PB (4,1) 1 Lyrosh Ebony Lady. Well made little bitch. Good strong front leading to nice ribbing and length. 2 Barisse High Society. Another quality bitch. Good front construction, but preferred the hindquarters of the winner. 3 Garthorne Fenella. JB (10) 1 A difficult class to judge as all different types. 1 Minimead Miss Peggy Sue. Compact, well covered and low to ground. Good ribbing, kept her topline well on the move. 2 Chelridge Ariadne. Nice front assembly, good tight feet. Pleasing outline. Not so steady on the move as the winner. 3 Scalamor Whoops A Daisy. PGB (11,3) 1 Maximites Lovely Lisa at Gettles. Another compact, smaller bitch but good length and ribbing for size. Lovely feminine head. 2 Yewlitt Trudie at Webbers. Tight front assembly. Good topline, preferred the back end of the winner. 3 Scalamor Pussy Willow. LB (8,2) A very difficult decision as both quality bitches. 1 Garthorne Leonie. Long, well balanced bitch. Good strong head and very nicely constructed. Good movement both front and back. Res Best Bitch. 2 Willowheath Trendie Music to Dolyharp. Good feminine head leading to nice front, topline and underline, with excellent ribbing. Moved well. 3 Donnadoon Elouise at Doujac. OB (9,3) 1 Ch Pipersvale Stella Artois. Beautiful little bitch. Lovely head and neck. Good forechest and ribbing. Lower to the ground and moved so soundly with real drive. Just my type of Dachshund. Best Bitch and Best of Breed. 2 Ch Garthorne Highlight. Another pleasing bitch with a lot of the attributes of the winner. Good head flowing to nice shoulders and ribbing. Good topline. Just preferred the movement of the winner. 3 Ch Carpaccio Shopaholic.
