MINIATURE SMOOTH

This variety must be among the strongest at present. Weight seems to be quite even with only four exhibits in this large entry tipping the scales & even then only fractionally. At any rate, I will always give preference to a dog who is slightly over the limit & looking the part over one who is within weight & looking otherwise. Luckily for me, I was spoilt for choice with plenty of exhibits who managed to achieve both.

MPD (5 entries, 2 absent)
1 McAulay’s Elnside The Way Ahead, attractive 6 months s/r baby, head of good length, very good angulation at both ends, built along the right lines, scopy body, still quite raw but plenty of potential, stepped out well for one so young; 2 Hunt’s Mylforbe Matchmaker at Carpaccio, very neat & together 7 months b/t, attractive head, good forehand. Could extend slightly more in front movement. Good head carriage, held topline well; 3 Paterson’s Jaxon Line Of Fire.

PD (6,3)

1 CC & BP, Coxon’s D'Arisca Full On, stylish 10 months b/t, head of good length, super front assembly with well filled crook & very firm elbows, good topline, really came into his own on the move with his very typical defiant head carriage & excellent front extension, impressed with the correct amount of width through his front legs. Still very young but I felt he could not be denied;
 2 Russell’s Russteck Figgy Duff, 9 months b/t, very neat & together, held topline well on the move. Not the scope of 1. Stepped out OK; 3 Robertson’s Mosiarto Masterpiece at Ravenwood.

JD (7,2)

1 Hunt’s Carpaccio Red Adair, very typical 14 months s/r, stylish & shapely both standing & moving, held topline well, super neck with excellent head carriage. Could have a shade more width through the front legs. Stepped out well; 2 R Figgy Duff; 3 Shelton’s Barisse Eragon.

PGD (6,2)
1 Fraser’s Donlaynes Double Memory, red of good size & stamp, held topline well both standing & moving. Hind movement could be a shade more positive. Good ribbing, stepped out well; 2 Daykin’s Barratini Jonny Cash, 15 months red, houndy expression, head of good length, held topline well. Hind movement a shade too close. Moved with good reach in front; 3
 McAulay’s Elnside Two Toned Boy.

LD (6,3)

1 Muggleton’s Mosiarto Mister Motivator, alert & showy b/t of excellent size, very good outline, held topline well. Elbows could be a shade closer to his chest. Moved with very typical Dachshund attitude, at one with his handler, stepped out well;

2 Feddery & Wolsey’s Donnadoon Jolly Roger for Glyndwr, 15 months s/r, houndy expression, strong jaw, appealing outline, scopy body. Would prefer more width through the front legs. Good head carriage; 3 Burton’s Swingletrees Razzamatazz.

OD (13,3)

1 RCC, Ergis’ Ch Siouxline Levi, top class s/r, very attractive head with lovely houndy expression, long neck, good angulation at both ends, held topline well. Just felt that the CC winner moved with a shade more drive. Very good ribbing & outline; 2 Coxon’s Ch D'Arisca I Do Declare, handsome b/t, quite low to ground, good forehand & quarters. Not the head or expression of 1. Held outline well on the move;
 3 Herrington’s Ch Kathington Coeur De Lion.

Beginners (6,4)
1
 Phillips’ Minimead Maid For Mischief at Daxphilly, 14 months b/t bitch, plenty of length & scope, good angulation at both ends. Front movement could be slightly firmer. Stepped out well; 2 Dimon’s Indyvic Enchanted Onyx, b/t bitch of good size, quite excited to be at a show, very exuberant. Did not maintain her shape on the move as well as 1. Dark eyes, deep chest.

MPB (7,1)
1
 BPB, Reed’s Deercroft Spring Promise, very typical 7 months b/t, well named as very promising indeed, everything fits well together, attractive head with houndy expression, very good forehand & quarters, sound mover, liked her a lot; 2 Ergis’ Siouxline Gemima, 7 months b/t, very attractive outline, good head & expression, stepped out OK. Moved a shade wide in front. Should be OK once she settles; 3 Muggleton’s Mosiarto Miss Guided.

PB (11,1)

1
 D Spring Promise;
2 Paget & Carroll’s Stargang Silver Star, 11 months silver dapple, feminine & attractive, head of good length, well made body with good angles. Not as collected on the move as 1. Dapple markings well broken up; 3 Williams’ Manacas Amber Cover at Wilmerella.

JB (17,4)

1 Rollinson’s Cwmdarhian Lady Marmalade by Diamonddax, 14 months red, appealed for type, feminine & very together, good angulation at both ends. Still needs to mature but has potential. Very sound mover, stepped out with real width & drive; 2 Kent’s Lokmadi On Silent Wings, 17 months red, attractive head & expression, very good size & substance. Hind movement could be slightly truer. Looked good going around, free mover
;
3 Blackburn Bennett’s Stargang Evora.

PGB (13,5)

1 Blackburn’s Stargang Morning Glow, 14 months red daughter of the BOB winner, head of good length, strong jaw, very houndy expression, long neck, good ribbing, stepped out well. Still quite angular & raw at this stage but has lots to like; 2 Mortlock’s Hertsmerry Catch A Star, 18 months s/r, very neat & together, held her shape very well on the move. Not the length of neck of 1. Sound mover; 3 Burton’s Swingletrees Eiderdown.

LB (14,6)

1 Kent’s Lokmadi Paper Tiger, very appealing b/t brindle, very feminine & showy, well within weight, excellent keel & angulation. Would prefer slightly houndier outlook. Moved freely & with drive on a loose lead, pushed hard for top honours, overall picture very pleasing; 2 Coxon’s D'Arisca Be Dazzled, well angulated s/r, quite low to ground, excellent topline. Front movement not as good as 1. Used her hocks well on the move, covered the ground well; 3 Worswick’s Willowheath Prudence.

OB (8,2)
1 CC & BOB, Blackburn’s Ch Sonderbar Billie Jean at Stargang, top quality red, head of good length, excels in forehand construction with her ideal keel & shoulder, super outline, impressed me even more once she hit the floor with her outstanding parallel movement unequalled in this entry, stepped out with drive & simply ran away with top honours; 2 RCC, Coxon’s D'Arisca Damsel In A Dress, dam of the DCC winner, very typical & showy, a shade lower to ground than 1, excellent outline & topline, very good forehand with typical keel & shoulder. Just felt that 1’s outlook was slightly houndier. Stepped out well, very good reach & drive as with others from this kennel; 3 Ergis’ Ch Siouxline April Folly.

VB (4,1)
1 BV, Middleton’s Bensarka Too Darned Hot for Lokmadi, 9 years s/r of very appealing size & type, looked good for her age, head of good length, strong jaw, strode out well with good front extension; 2
 Bursey’s Willowheath Bliss with Hartlake, 8 years b/t, very neat & together, good size, correct forequarter angulation. Not quite as sound as 1 on the move. Stepped out well; 3 Yeoman’s Klynerbyner Prim And Proper.

Breeders (1)

1 Ergis, very even group, breeder has achieved a very good type & standard, nice to see them all moving with the characteristic Dachshund arrogant attitude, good head carriage, all with good size & outlines.
