When the letter came to invite me to judge the Miniature Smooths at Crufts, I felt so honoured and proud to be asked, so I would like to thank Officers & committee and all involved for making this dream come true. Also I was fortunate to have the expertise of my steward, Ian Gordon, who was very well organised ensuring the day ran smoothly.

I was overwhelmed with the very large entry, and would like to thank all exhibitors who entered under me also the generous applause made for a lovely atmosphere and enjoyable day.

I am pleased to say that I didn’t find one exhibit that was underweight enough to cause me any concern for the animals health, the majority of the dogs were presented in excellent conditions as you would expect being shown at this event.

Overall there were many lovely dogs and some very worthy champions, including visitors from abroad, meaning I had some very difficult decisions to make. I was very pleased with my end results. My star of the day was CH Lokmadi Sea Holly getting shortlisted in a very strong Hound Group.

1st CH DONNADOON IMAGINATION AT BARISSE JW SHCM (MRS A SHELTON)

Two cracking oldies both in super condition and showed extremely well, credit to their owners.

One I have always liked, correct shaped masculine head on nicely arched neck into well balanced body, moved soundly keeping a lovely outline, not showing his 9 ½ years. Worthy champion.

2nd LITTLE WIZARD OF KELMBECK (MRS B Y SIM)

Smart B/T 8 years. Pleasing head, neck, also a nice body shape. Keeping a good outline, moved round with ease.

What a super B/T boy of 8 months Very confident and mature for age, is a good size, correct head proportions, well balanced body with no exaggerations, true moving up and down, in profile keeping a lovely outline, one with a bright future. B.P.D, delighted to award him B.P.I.B.

2nd DANTON PAPER TIGER AT BARISSE (MRS A SHELTON) B/T baby with a lot to like, well presented. Good in head and neck, eye and expression, clean front, legs and feet. Moved very well in profile, just needs to settle in rear movement.

Another quality youngster, red nice type, all good for the future of the breed. So well balanced. Lovely head shape, enough neck into excellent forequarters, ribbing well back, neat quarters, moved soundly with drive, keeping a firm outline.

2nd DANTON MR BROWN AT WOLFERLOW (MS C SCOTT)

Promising puppy, pleasing head and expression, compact balanced body, with good front angulation. Tidy outline, not got the drive of one and a little unsettled when stood

3rd LOKMADI COME FLY WITH ME (MR M & MRS Y KENT) Red, longer type. Super head & length of neck, correct shoulder, ribbing OK, moved very freely with good front extension, would have liked a little shorter in hock.

1st STARGANG CRAZY WAVES (MISS H BLACKBURN-BENNETT) Elegant Red Brindle youngster, lovely head piece and lengthy neck, good front angles, ribbing and sound quarters with good bend of stifle, used to advantage on the move, lovely extension and drive.

2nd CARPACCIO MR SELFRIDGE OF ROBINSWOOD(MRS I PHILLIPS) B/T attractive head, good neck into nicely angulated front, ribbing well back, not as good in quarters as one, moved very well. Good outline stood and on the move.

3rd MELRIDING PERKIN WARBECK (MRS D & MRS F MELBOURNE & HOLDSWORTH) Another nice youngster, a lot to like. Attractive head, good eye, correct shoulder placement, good bone and feet, neat quarters, would like a little more bend of stifle. Moved with drive, lovely outline in profile.

1st CONSULATE DON GEORGE OF ARAGON AT GLENARIFF (IMP GIB) (MS C A REYNOLDS)

Shaded red, quality boy, good shape of head, neck, prominent forechest, super bone and feet, good hind angulation with short hock. Moved true going away, slightly narrow coming back, looked lovely in profile, well presented.

2nd ARBENNIK ST THOMAS OF ROBINSWOOD (MRS I PHILLIPS)

B/T pleasing head and neck, shoulder placement good, ribbing well back, little straight in hind angulation, moved round very well.

3rd MAGIK RAINBOW LEONARDO [ATC AR00866RUS] (O POPOVA) B/T very good head and arch to neck, little forward in shoulder, ribbing OK, moved steady, not the outline of the first two.

1st DONNADOON JOLLY ROGER FOR GLYNDWR(MR P & MRS J L FEDDERY & WOLSEY)

Two lovely boys. Red youngster of good size, lovely head and expression, balanced in body shape, having good angulation at both ends. Super driving movement, using his neat short hocks that won him the class. Would benefit with a little more substance to finish the picture.

2nd D'ARISCA PRINCE OF DARKNESS AT AMBERGLO TAF ( COXON & WEIR)

B/T Quality all through, attractive head. Good front assembly, ribbing, topline and sound quarters, good bone and feet. Moved with style, well presented.

3rd PASCALLI BLUE MOON (MISS SJ HEPTINSTALL) B/T lovely masculine head, clean neck & forequarters, moved well, a lovely outline, sired by the lovely Veteran dog winner.

Handsome red with correct head and length of neck, well placed shoulders on good legs and feet, stylish steady movement, keep good head carriage and outline.

2nd BRONIA VALENTE OF MARVALE (MR M J & MR G J PAGET & CARROLL)

Quality B/T not the head of one, correctly balanced in body, correct angles at both ends, moved true fore and aft in profile, slight rise over loin.

3rd WELCUMEN GUINNESS (MRS P PUNTER) B/T not the confidence of the first two, liked his head and front and well let down quarters, moved true up and down.

1st CH STARGANG AVENGER (MR & MRS J BLACKBURN-BENNETT)

Quality class, all placing deserved a red card today. Very handsome stylish red brindle boy, strong masculine head on super reach of neck, well placed shoulders with enough forechest, spring and length of ribbing, strong well muscled rear and toned body. Looked a picture moving in profile, with lovely front extension and drive, well deserved DCC

2nd CH D'ARISCA FULL ON (MRS L COXON)

B/T from the top drawer. All quality with nice shaped head, long neck and clean correct shoulders, good depth, ribbing carried well back, nicely balanced quarters, moved true up and down, in profile held an excellent outline. Well presented and handled, RCC.

3rd CH BARRATINI JONNY CASH (MRS C H DAYKIN)

Another lovely exhibit. Smart red of good type with masculine head, good neck, front, bone and feet, level topline, looked lovely in profile on the move.

Chocolate dapple, lovley boy, good head shape and body proportions, moved round with purpose and style, very well handled.

2nd HODDERNSTORM SILVER DUSTER AT MORROW(S SMYTH) Silver dapple, finer in bone than one, also moved, showed and handled really well.

Black and tan of quality, extremely good head and neck, shoulders correct, so well balanced, good bone and feet, moved soundly keeping a lovely outline, picture in profile.

2nd DOLYHARP PIZZICATO AT KIRETON (MRS T & MISS R KERRY)

Black and tan, finer although than one. Has level topline and underline, free on the move. True up and down, looked lovely in profile, well handled.

3rd DOVESTREAM LIMITED EDITION (MRS B MINNS)

Black and tan, taller type but lovely shaped shoulders with tight elbows. OK quarters, moved very well.

Promising puppy with acceptable head, pleasing body shape, excellent bone, moved really well but would have liked more angulation to hind quarters. Moved round with purpose.

Another promising B/T puppy, different type to one but all in proportion. Attractive head, good reach of neck, clean body line, sound free mover.

3rd JAYDANIA OOOPS A DAISY (MRS S J BISHTON)

B/T 8 months, liked front assembly, enough bone for size, lost out on topline to first two.

Lovely promising red baby, feminine head and expression. Correctly balanced body, excellent on the move presenting a good outline, should mature into a very nice bitch.

2nd D'ARISCA DIZZY HEIGHTS (MRS L COXON)

Another promising puppy. Different type to one, finer in bone but all in proportion, attractive head on enough neck into well balanced clean body lines. Sound free mover.

3rd YAAPEET ESME MAY (MRS A BOURNE)

Puppy with good head and expression, bone and feet, not quite as together as first two, but lovely puppy, should do well.

B/T all quality, nicely shaped head, reach of neck into correct layback of shoulders, prominent forechest, good bone and feet, length and spring of rib, correct angulated rear with low set hocks. Moved true up and down and in profile, keeping a lovely outline. RCC.

2nd DEERCROFT SUMMER SERENADE (MRS E A REED)

Red girl who I have often admired, attractive balanced outline, feminine head, good eye, sound in front and shoulders and adequate rear angulation. Moved very well.

3rd KATHINGTON CHANCE BE A LADY (MRS K A HERRINGTON)

Clear red, beautiful typical head, adequate neck, compact balanced body with nice oval front and neat quarters, moved freely and soundly with drive, in lovely condition.

B/T youngster, thought she looked lovely today, on top form, good head and eye, length and arch of neck, lovely smooth front assembly with tight elbows. Good ribbing. OK quarters, moved round soundly with ease.

2nd STARGANG WYNDSMOOR TWINKLED (MR & MRS J BLACKBURN-BENNETT)

B/T different type to one, strong head shape on elegant neck. Good bone, keeping a nice body shape, sound fore and aft, moved very well.

3rd LOKMADI GOODNIGHT IRENE JW (MR M & MRS Y KENT)

Lovely B/T, all quality, correct head, neck and body shape, good shoulders and rear angulation, moved very well round, not as positive in hind movement going away, and just didn’t seem relaxed today.

1st LOKMADI ON SILENT WINGS JW (MR M & MRS Y KENT) Headed a good class. Honest clean red girl with a feminine head. Correct shoulder placement and oval front, good length and spring of rib, bone and feet, neat quarters, moved with purpose.

2nd WEBBERS SWANSONG (MRS V E STOKES)

B/t larger type than one, giving more ground clearance, lovely head, good eye, long neck and shoulder placement. Moved freely round. Not the underline of one.

3rd JULIDACHS JOCASTA (MRS J HUGHES) B/T with super head, neck, lovely body lines, which she kept on the move, tight elbows. Good rear angulation, moved so well. Kept a true outline. Three lovely girls.

Red elegant girl, different type being more streamline. Lovely head and eye, long neck, correctly angulated front and rear. Moved with extension and drive.

3rd BRONIA VITTORIA OF MARVALE (MR M J & MR G J PAGET & CARROLL)

Lovely red bitch, pleasing head, nicely arched neck into well placed shoulders and sound let down rear. Level topline and underline. Sound free mover, just wasn’t settled today.

1st CH LOKMADI SEA HOLLY AT STARGANG (MISS H BLACKBURN-BENNETT) Such a strong class with many good exhibits going card less.

Good red bitch of excellent quality, first got my attention as she moved round with lovely effortless drive of the hocks. Super head and length of neck, correct front and hind quarters, moved true up and down, her profile movement won her the class. Lovely picture. CC and BOB.

2nd D'ARISCA DAMSEL IN A DRESS (MRS L COXON)

Another excellent B/T, such a lovely outline both standing and moving, nicely shaped head, good neck, correct angulation throughout, flowed round the ring, showing that lovely outline, expertly handled.

3rd CH/LUX/MYS CH CWMDARHIAN CARA - MIA (MRS R & MR C WILLIAMS & MOES)

Red bitch of quality, so well balanced standing four square, excellent bone and substance, with nice filled front and sound quarters with good bend of stifle, moved with style. Well presented and handled.
