Dachshund (Miniature Smooth-haired)

 I really enjoyed judging this variety, but what I really noticed was how much bigger the males have become. I have no problem in giving a bit of leeway to dogs that are a bit over the set weight limit, but I think as judges where we do have the use of scales then you should have a maximum weight you are prepared to award top honours to. We have remember that this is a miniature Dachshund & at this moment in time our measure for this is by weight & breeders should still bear this in mind even though scales are not used at every show.

SBD (3, 1 abs) 1 Scoins’ Hayvenhund Braveh’Art, nice dog who was shown in gleaming condition, plenty of ground clearance, moved out well. 2 Fairchild’s Bronia Diodato For Restinim, this boy was not sure of himself & was unable to give a good account of himself.

MPD (4, 1abs) 1 Scoins’ Hayvenhund Eager Beaver, smart puppy, lovely head, good forechest, front ok, well ribbed back & good underline, moved out well, hope he doesn’t get much bigger. 2 Scoins’ Hayvenhund Encore, although he was too big for me, he was well made & won his placing on his more positive movement. 3 Overington’s Delandmar Jimi Hendrix

PD (6, 2abs) 1 Paget & Carroll’s Marrakesh Red Cardinal, liked his overall shape & ball be, good head & good length of neck into a clean front, good rear, held his outline well & moved out soundly. BPD & BP 2 Protheroe’s Ginco Mikey Boots By Royalmaple, smart dog, liked his head & neck, ok through his front & rear, would prefer him a touch shorter in loin & his sternum to be carried further back, he was happy & sound on the move. 3 Magri’s Bronia Cellini Rozamie

JD (1) 1 Mason’s Teckeltown Master Piece, presented a smart outline, a touch broad in backskull, nice tight elbows, good ground clearance, rear ok, held his topline throughout & moved soundly.

YD (1) 1 Melbourne, Paget & Carroll’s Melriding Cloak And Dagger, ok in head, good neck & front with tight elbows, balanced rear, although he did tend to stand with a sloping topline this was better in the move, moved out correctly. ND (1) 1 Scoins’ Hayvenhund Braveh’Art.

PGD (5, 1abs) 1 Rudkin’s Dynastydax Tarquin, on the larger side, head ok & front, I thought he had the best top & underline in this class, good rear & moved ok. 2 Protheroe’s Swankydax Mr Blue Sky By Royalmaple, ok in head, but he could do with more strength in fore face, a little forward in shoulder placement. He was not enjoying the noise in the venue, which caused him to be a little unsettled on the move. 3 Merry & Selby’s Merryline Stanley

LD (8, 2abs) 1 Williams & Moes’ Cwmdarhian Jesse James, although this boy was too big for me to consider him for top honours, I thought he had the best of heads, with a super width to his muzzle, he was well made throughout & sound on the move. 2 Paget & Carroll’s Riowood Black Jack, good head & muzzle, well made front & rear, a touch long in loin, was well muscled & moved out well. 3 Mason’s Teckletown Something Magic JW

OD (8, 2abs) 1 Kent’s Lokmadi Sand Dollar, loved the outline & balance of this oh so moderate boy, who was a good size. Super head & neck, lovely flowing lines, well made rear & he moved out so well. CC & BOB. 2 Gentle’s Dimogen Stargazer, liked this boy the more I watched him, good make & shape, well made front & rear, moved out well. RCC 3 Coxon’s Ch Distinctly So D’Arisca

VD (1) 1 Coxon’s Ch Distinctly So D’Arisca, I really liked this boy & had to nit pick in the open class. He was a lovely head & long neck, well made front & rear to balance, I would prefer him a shade shorter in loin to balance him overall. Loved his temperament & he moved out so well. BV

SBB(6) 1 Rose’s Ardenrun Foolish Whisper At Rosencrantz, presented a clean outline, ok through her neck & shoulders, good rear & moved our well. BSB 2 O’Connell’s Hollybirch Glowing Gold, once this girl settled she had a balanced outline & moved ok. 3 Tree’s Keimantre Lola

MPB (5) 1 Rudkin’s Dynastydax Alfreda, smart girl with a balanced outline, well made & she had good ground clearance, clean flowing lines & moved well. BPB 2 Hutchings & Price’s Collidach Splish Splash, this brindle girl made me smile with the wicked glint she has in her eye. Lovely head & strong muzzle, good body, well made front & rear, moved well. 3 Ergis’s Siouxline Elizabeth

PB (5, 2abs) 1 Andison & Peel’s Clentry Girl Like You, nice make & shape, she presented a balanced outline, good forechest & underline, moved well. 2 Morgan’s Collidach Ruby Slippers, when this young lady settled she had a balanced outline with reasonable angles fore & aft, held her shape on the move. 3 Forge’s Normpug Red Flame

JB (11, 3abs) 1 Hanney-Mitchell’s Bronia’s Antonella, lovely girl who was good to go over, well made throughout. Lovely head, good legs & feet, covered the ground on the move. RCC 2 Robert’s & Smith’s Sonora Ginger Snap For Rayol, liked this girl, lovely head with good infill under the eye, well made front & rear, moved out well. 3 Protheroe’s Picollo Terkel Endless Love At Royalmaple

Held her outline at all times & moved out with confidence. Pleased to award her her much deserved 3rd CC. 2 Haney-Mitchell’s Bronia Bellezza, another quality girl. Good head & neck, well made throughout & sound on the move. 3 Ergis’s Siouxline Rachel JW

VB (4) 1 Ergis’s Ch Siouxline Rapunzel With Melriding, really nice girl, not always at her best stacked, but in the move she had a super outline & was well made throughout. 2 Tree’s Ardenrun Sea Shanty By Keimantre, nice head, a little forward in shoulder placement, rear ok, she held her topline & moved soundly. 3 Taylor’s Debbiejay Magical Flo
