MINIATURE LONGHAIRED DOGS It has been 4 years since I last judged this variety and feel that front assembly has improved greatly, but hindquarters that enable the required rear thrust leave a lot to be desired. Tummy tapping is still a very prevalent fault. There are two areas that cause great concern, as they are inherited faults: one being pinscer bites, the breed standard does specifically state that nothing other than a clean scissor bite is acceptable. The other very obvious fault is kink tails. These faults were most common in the lower classes. In one class in particular I could not find one single animal without a tail fault of one form or another. When one considers that these young males should be out up and coming stud dogs worries me as to where we will end up, if breeders continue to turn a blind eye to such important points. MP (9) 1 Passey's Rafthouse Poachers Moon at Cagebrook. B and T. Well constructed youngster, correct front assembly, just needs to tighten - which will come with maturity. Superb bone and feet, good length of rib. Excellent hindquarters. Moves with drive. Best Puppy. 2 Young's Willowheath Travis. S d. Unfortunate to meet the winner. Super front, lovely clean outline. Not the rear thrust on the move of the winner. 3 Turner's Rafthouse Acclaimation. P (3) 1 Harrison's Lacerking Jimmy Mac. B/T. Pleasing head and reachy neck. Sound front, good length and sufficient rear angulations. Needs maturity and to deepen throughout. 2 Vine's Chiselvine Smoking Gun. S/d. Still looks a roly-poly round puppy. Not ready for the ring yet? J (4) I found this class to be an absolute nightmare. The winner was outstanding and won easily. 1 Brooks' Lyndarlea Darknight Black Magic. B/T. Beautiful head, good mouth. Long clean neck, good front and ribbing. Adequate angulation. Moves truely and freely, tail should be longer. 2 Poole's Findowrie Society Guy. Red. I have seen him look a lot better, he is going through that raw adolescent stage and desperately needs his coat. Soundly made but lacks rear angulation and is rather tall in hocks, which does not help. 3 Croxford's Arbroath Mr McSporran. PG (5) 1 Cooper's Jumanda's Hot Chocolate. His coat needs attention, it's at that in between stage, not fully in, and because of the colour appears to lack lustre and condition. However, his construction is extremely pleasing and he is very well made and sound throughout. Good mouth, lovely bone, flows around the ring. Won this class with ease. 2 Roberts' Denver Musketeer. B/T. Beautifully made exhibit that obviously was not enjoying his day out. He appeared to be rather nervous, which affected his movement. 3 Brooks' Lyndarlea Bounty Boy. L (9) At last a lovely class, full of quality exhibits that could change places at any time. 1 Garman's Albaney's Cornish Cream. My judge's book simply says 'WOW!'. He is lovely. Nice head, lovely tight almond eye, reachy neck, good oval front. Sufficient pro-sternum and ribbing. Superb hindquarters which he uses to the full. Res CC. Just felt another half a pound would complete the picture for maturity - good luck, has an exceptional bright future I am sure. 2 Hanney's Bronia Star of Oz. B/T. Another really nice one, not the prosternum of the winner but all other aspects are the same. The was the only way I could split these two exhibits. Moves out well keeping a good topline. Presentation excellent. 3 Phillips' Rossglen Rebel Yell with Rossdach. O (10) 1 Jamieson's Airwaves to Carlang via Djeata. B/T. This exhibit is a classic case of needing to be gone over to be appreciated. Pleasing head, correct eye shape and good mouth. Reachy neck with excellent front and shoulders assembly. Good spring to ribcage and of adequate length. Strong, well muscled hindquarters which he uses to the full. Lacks a little coat, but that he has got was presented to perfection. Delighted to award him his crowning CC. 2 Roberts' Ch Denver Jack Frost. Cream. A very worthy Champion. Very well made, moves with drive. Lovely outline, just preferred the front of the winner. 3 Norton's Halunke Mister Baggins.

MINIATURE LONG HAIRED BITCHES I found this a most challenging appointment. All dogs were clean and well groomed, if in some cases with a little too much coat. Teeth were clean. Some heads were very untypical, with round eyes, short narrow muzzles, which consequently gave crowded teeth and incorrect head proportions. Correct well-knuckled feet were in the minority. I was a little disappointed when examining some animals that looked, from ringside correct. On closer examination I found short upper arms, loose elbows and straight hindquarters. Toplines generally were good, although some exhibits would benefit from more ribbing. Many exhibits would benefit from some exercise, too many were very flabby. Temperaments were very good and I was very pleased with my principal winners. MP (6) 1. Mitchell's Bronia Aussie Royal. Red, beautifully presented, lovely head, neat feet, good forechest with excellent bone and ribbing, good topline, would benefit from shade more angulation front and rear. 2. Young's Willowheath Coldplay. B/T. Good head, feet could do better, good forecast, shoulders OK nice hindquarters, topline needs to firm. P (9) 1. Turners Rafthouse Tallulah, red, well balanced, very elegant, good length, feminie head, good angulation, good topline, sound mover. BPB. 2. Richardson' Sirrondach Ebony Pistacio. B/T, shorter than 1, lovely head, good forechest, prefer better shoulder, good hindquarters, topline and underline OK, moved out well. J (9) 1. Goddard's Minard Live the Dream. Red, lovely shape, excellent head, Forequarters Ok, touch loose in elbow, neat feet, excellent tailset, lovely top and underline, super ribbing, excellent rear action. 2. Young's Willoweath Hot Gem, beautifully balanced B/T, good feet, head OK, good forequarters, good tailset, good topline, preferred ribbing on 1. PG (10) 1. Welton's Chelane Crown Jewel. Red Lovely head and eye, Forequarter construction OK, good topline, prefer tighter feet, lovely tailset, good forechest, her movement won this class. 2. Tomlinson's Mistynook Cinder to Winglow. Red Good forechest, good topline, feet could be tighter, Hind angulation OK, moved out well. L (12) 1. Robert's Denver's Babycham, pale red, beautifully balanced, lovely head, excellent forequarters, neat feet, good topline. Excellent hindquarters and tailset, lovely freedom of movement, preferred her ground clearance to 2. Pushed hard for RCC. 2. Naden's Marielle's Heywoods Lamb, shaded red, preferred head on 1, good feet, well made fore and hindquarters, good top and underline, moved out well, just a shade too low to ground. O (8) 1. Goddard's Ch Minard Krystal Darque. Well balanced B/T, best forequarter construction, excellent top and underline, super ribbing, well angulated hindquarters, neat feet, good tailset, most wonderful free mover, to be hypercritical, would prefer less round eye, but for me the star of the day. CC, BOB with me co judges agreement. 2. Butler's Drymoor Secret Delight. Shaded cream, lovely type, excellent head, lovely top and underline, excellent tailset, good front and rear, preferred movement on winner, lovely bitch. RCC
