MINIATURE LONG HAIRED

My first CC appointment. A number of exhibits looked well stacked but unfortunately didn’t hold their profile on the move. The bitches were generally of better quality than the dogs. A number of young dogs had dirty teeth, & while I appreciate it can be difficult to keep teeth clean it is inexcusable for dogs of less than 18 months. It was also noticeable that a number of the exhibits relied on loins for their length rather than ribbing & that it was unusual to find a dog who moved true both front & rear. There were some exhibits who were too thin.

Despite this I was pleased with my major winners who I felt fulfilled the criteria of a small hound breed; long, low & level who is capable of working.

V (3) 1 Sutherland’s Toscanelli Border Maiden, b/t bitch with tight shoulders, in excellent condition, good length of rib, nicely angulated hindend, good coat, cleanest of teeth; 2 Bainbridge’s Oakboro Debonair at Helenium, b/t, pretty bitch with finer head than 1. Not as firm in topline but well angulated & with good elbows; 3 Johnson’s Charpurdy New Dawn. MPD (7) 1 Boyle’s Zarcrest Ice Conqueror, cream, excellent pigment & heavy bone, easily won the class on maturity. Would prefer slightly more length of ribbing but moved well from well angulated hindquarters. Topline still needs time to settle on the move but despite this his overall profile made him a worthy RCC; 2 Millward’s Messines Royal Acclamation, cream, close to 1 but lost out on tightness of elbow. Well made backend that was used effectively to drive around the ring, stylish dog; 3 Woodage’s Totonian Toscanini. PD (7,1a) 1 Kennedy’s Denkena’s Solar Storm, b/t, won on overall height to length ratio, good hind action. Would prefer a little more prosternum. Topline held well on the move, good head; 2 Halsall’s Kiddles Medusa, brindle dog who needs time to mature. Good length of ribbing & overall height to length ratio, held topline on the move. Elbows not as tight as 1; 3 Graham’s Jadag Fornton’s Caramel. JD (4,1) 1 Booth’s Asbach Andreas, red dog, not the best of heads but had a solid topline & houndy movement with drive. Good length of rib & short coupling; 2 Wood’s Wildstar Wrenowned, b/t, well made front & well angulated backend. Would prefer more length of ribbing, topline not held when moving; 3 Brooks’ Lyndarlea Atlantica. GD (3,1) 1 Mee’s Barlaine’s Midnight Prince, b/t, tight elbows, good length of rib, well coated, correct bite; 2 Brearley’s Lyndarlea Silver Wave at Xanadax, s/dapple who unfortunately would not cooperate with his handler. Well made rear used to drive well, good head, correct coat. PGD (4) 1 Evans’ Lyndarlea Silver Moon, s/dapple, good length of rib, well angulated hind end, tight elbows; 2 Hallett’s Cagebrook Jimmy Choo at Loretto, sh/r, masculine head, well made. Topline just not held on the move as well as 1; 3 Brearley’s Lyndarlea Silver Wave at Xanadax. LD (7,3) 1 Brooks’ Layways Piper for Lyndarlea, heavily coated cream, won on overall height to length ratio, well boned, excellent pigment, good head, good front movement, held topline well on the move, well ribbed, strode out to win the CC; 2 Charnley’s Northnook Rafferty, b/t, well made rear used to drive on the move. Good houndy head but not the ring presence of 1; 3 King’s Creekpit Black Opal at Summerview. OD (8,1) 1 Breese’s Silkdown On Parade, heavily coated red, better topline than 2, well made backend used to move with drive; 2 Jamieson’s Silver-A-Do by Djeta, nice head & prosternum, moved well.

MPB (6) 1 Holden’s Dinkidax Ebony & Ivory, b/t who won on overall profile. Would prefer more prosternum but had a well made hind end & good tight elbows. Short loin that allowed the topline to be held on the move. Won over the dog for BP due to more compact profile; 2 Sutherland’s Absorb Silver Dollar Abi, s/dapple, head not the best but had good length of rib & strode out with drive; 3 Oxley’s Dinkidax Dollipop. PB (6) 1 Morris’ Xemija Star Struck at Criscan, red, good rearend & tight elbows, good topline held on the move; 2 Halsall’s Kiddles Painted Bronze, sh/cream, moved well, good front & prosternum but needs time to drop at rear; 3 Mains’ Scotiablue Lady Luck. JB (11) 1 Shone’s Hanishan Classic Madam, brindle, moved out well with well angulated hind end, well put together with tight coupling & overall height to length ratio, heavy bone. Eye just a touch round but overall a well balanced bitch. RCC; 2 Turner’s Rafthouse Eternity, b/t, good head & well made front, reasonable length of ribbing, moved with drive; 3 Booth’s Asbach Amelie. GB (3,1) 1 Heiser’s Polinard Grace ‘N’ Favour, cream who won on head carriage, prosternum & length of ribbing; 2 Leach’s Miriadachs Summer Breeze, nice red, good head, well angulated rear used to drive on the move. PGB (11,4) 1 Welton’s Chelane Pure Magic, b/t, well made, good length of rib, just had edge in profile on move over 2 P Grace ‘N’ Favour, strode out well in this class; 3 Woodage’s Kiddles Full Cry for Totonian. LB (7,2) 1 Geeson’s Abydachs Absolution, b/t, well rounded ribs & good prosternum, well angulated hind end used to drive on the move, well coated; 2 Leach’s Willowheath Lady Sophia at Miriadachs, good head & rear construction, scored on topline; 3 Charnley’s Northnook Lucyanna. OB (6) 1 Jamieson’s Djeta Spring Blossom, red, tight elbows & well rounded ribs, good bone & length of ribbing, houndy head, well made hind end, adequate correct coat. Not the flashiest but a solid hound that moved with drive. Overall type & construction won her the class. CC & BOB; 2 Goddard’s Ch Minard Krystal Darque, b/t, feminine head & dark eye, well angulated used to drive on the move, held her topline throughout; 3 Turner’s Rafthouse Tallulah.
