My thanks to the committee for inviting me to judge at this Championship Show and thank you the exhibitors for your lovely entry and the sporting way you took my decisions. It had been some time since I judged Min Wires and I found the breed to have improved very much in type. Gone were the little toy Dachshunds and I found what I was looking for in most classes: a Standard Dachshund in Miniature and not a Miniature Dachshund, there really is a difference. Temperaments were on the whole excellent and most coats were good, only a coupled hiding a light body to make sure of the weight. Dentition was much improved but oh, there is no excuse for dirty teeth these days and unfortunately several exhibits had them and paid the penalty. Many hounds looked well stacked but when moved and asked to stand free it was a different matter. I hate to see Dachshunds strung up like Terriers, they are hounds and ought to be able to use their noses if need be. Many thank to my two gentlemen stewards who kept the classes flowing smoothly.

MPD. (3). 1. Moates’s, Kanix Leonard to Dianamo. Lovely dark brindle boy of 6 months. Good head and expression. Lovely reach of neck and well off for ribbing. Moved ok, should do well as he matures, still very much a baby. 2. Marka Novaj Maice’s, Shembys Perfik Gentleman. Smaller br with a lovely head and expression. Nice reach of neck, good ribbing and moved well. Two promising puppies. 3. Fulton’s, Stargang Blue Eyed Boy at Bothlyn.

PD. (5). 1. Fulton’s, Blue Eyed Boy. Litter brother. Longer cast than Minor puppies but still a very nice puppy with a good expression, reach of neck and a level topline on the move. 2. Walker’s, Roselle Lord of the Dance. 10 months old smaller br who was very apprehensive on the table. Masculine head and good front. Good ribbing. Preferred movement of the winner.

JD. (5). 1. Howells’, Nuts About Toffy. Lovely outline and well put together. Good head and masculine expression. Smaller than I like but won easily on his overall outline and movement. 2. Smith’s, Dunns Pitts Zakajak Litter brother Good front, head and eye. Good ribbing and moved well. 3. McElaath’s, Bothlyn Timemaster at Sharplaw.

PGD. (5). 1. Kugow and Holt’s, Waldmeister Jackson. Another brindle of correct size. Excellent front. Lovely head and eye with alert expression. Good neck flowing into well placed shoulders. Sound ribbing and well angulated fore and aft. Moved well on a loose lead. Unfortunately he became very unsettled in the challenge but pushed the winner very hard. RCC. 2. Close’s, Westonlee Trooper. Br dapple of good size. Pleasing head and expression. Held topline well on the move but not the hind extension of the winner. 3. McElaath’s, Bothlyn Timemaster at Sharplaw.

LD. (9). 1. Wilberg’s, Kanix Keith. A standard in Miniature. Good head and eye. Excellent reach of neck and well constructed body with good angulation which he used to advantage when moving. Needs to slow down just a little to show movement correctly. CC. 2. Robertson and Cocozza’s Soletrader Dax Factor. Dark br boy with a super head and eye. Good reach of neck and well off for ribbing. Moved well but lacked the drive of the winner. 3. Morton’s, Molloney Trea Fried.

OD. (7). 1. Allan and Dick’s, Ir Ch. Auchans Roger the Dodjer. Good coated br with good front, ribbing and topline. Good angulation fore and aft. Smaller than I like but won the class on his overall construction. 2. Fulton’s, Jonkaths Time Traveller to Bothlyn JW. Litter brother. Good front, head and eye. Good ribbing and hind angulation. Coat on the soft side. Moved well. 3. Barney’s, Ch. Verrami Brown Doff. Stylish dog with good overall body construction. Just preferred movement of first and second.

MPB. (7). Rowell’s, Kanix Linda at Emmajesk. Sweet head and expression. Good coat, front and reach of neck. Good ribbing. Smaller than I like but couldn’t pass her. 2. Kays’, Shardagang Likerish Twista for Kaytian. Good coated feminine little girl with lovely expression. Well off for ribbing but not the movement of the winner. Needs to tighten up behind. 3. Frasers’, Cumtru Kid Gloves.

PB. (5). 1. Kugow and Holts’, Waldmeister Mischka. Attractive puppy with all the essentials in the right place. Lovely profile both standing and moving. Loved her head and expression. Little bit happy with her tail but as it wagged all the time it showed that she was enjoying herself as a puppy should. Pleased to award her the RCC and BPIB. The one I would take home. Should do well as she matures. 2. Price’s, Samlane Pink Gin. Another very nice puppy with good head and expression. Good reach of neck, well off for ribbing and good hindquarters. Unlucky to meet winner on the day but should do well. 3. Holgates’, Drakesleat Bahn the Bomb.

JB. (10). 1. Miller’s, Scotmariner Sea Buscuit. Dark br. Good head and eye. Nice reach of neck and good body construction and angulation. Moved well. 2. Barney’s, Verrami Kisch n Dor. Br. Has all the essentials in the right places. Good hind angulation. Moved well, but not the stride of winner. 3. Price’s, Howells’, Fallowmill Clarissa. Compact little bitch with lovely front and good head and eye. Good shoulders. Tail a bit gay on the move but liked her a lot. 2. Poxon’s, Kapodach Sakura Blush. Well balanced little girl with lovely head and eye. Good reach of neck and good length of rib. Movement not as true as winner. 3. Black’s, Bassodon Borgia.

LB. (8). 1. Wilbergs’, Stargang Coco at Kanix. Br/br. Lovely front and shoulders. Good head and expression. Good hind angulation which she used to advantage when moving. 2. Wilbergs’, Kanix Kalinka. Pretty bitch has all the essentials in the right place but not the movement of winner. 3. Marston-Teals’, Lordscairnie Love Actually.

OB. (5). 1. Hutchings’, Ch. Molleny Zena Ghost JW. Super brindle who has all the essentials and more. Sweet feminine head good shoulders. Excellent ribbing and well angulated fore and aft and the more she moved the better she went. CC and BOB. 2. Haywards’, Foxearth Fresh as a Daisy. Feminine head and expression. Good reach of neck, good shoulder angulation. Well off for ribbing. Moved freely, just unlucky to meet winner on the day. 3. Blackburn’s, Ch. Kanix Hilda at Stargang. Another lovely bitch with lots to like but lower to ground than I like.
