Blackpool 2002

Dachshund (Long Haired)

Judge: Mrs O Hardy

I was very sorry to hear that Mr Alan Sharman the appointed judge had had a fall and was unable to travel. On his behalf may I thank the exhibitors for the very nice entry and for myself, thank them for accepting my placings in a sporting manner. The name ‘breezy Blackpool’ lived up to its reputaiton as it felt more like November than June. I found a mixture of sizes and some exhibits with too much coat which obscured the outline and made the exhibits too stuffy in neck whilst feet on some were poor.

MPD. (2). 1. Lawrence’s, Peverleigh Solo Vision. 7 months b/t. Very promising puppy, good length of head and body. Moved well over the rough ground. 2. Bongiovanni’s, Merrygarth Greve de Lecq avec Ankors. Red another nicely put together and overall balanced puppy. Still needs to settle on the move.

JD. (3). 1. Burke and Manston’s, Bonavior Cloneylogan. B/t. Balanced head and good length of body and ribbing. Nicely boned legs and feet. Moved soundly. 2. Swann and Robert’s, Rodima Gold Knight at Swansford. Well proportioned head, good length of neck with well placed shoulders and oval front. Topline was correct when standing on the table but was spoilt by erratic movement on the rough ground. 3. Wedge’s, Dolan Cupid Arrow.

GD. (3). 1. Metcalfe’s, Metadale Matador. 22 months old sh/red. Well balanced in all departments. Moving well keeping correct topline. Well presented. 2. Warren’s, Metadale Monte Carlo. Red. Masculine head, good shaped eyes. Ribbing carried well back. Good hind angulation but not as firm as first above. 3. Brearley and Ramsden’s, Darkfell Saracen of Xanadax. PGD. (5). 1. Bainbridge’s, Bronia Gigolo. Sh/r. Lovely type, masculine but elegant. Balanced throughout. Coat in immaculate condition. Moved well. 2. Lawrence’s, Peverleigh Mr Stripe. Red. Smaller built than first above. Well shaped head and eyes. Shoulder placement and topline good. Coat in good condition. 3. Arnold’s, Kerton Silver Shannon of Doral.

LD. (11). 1. Jordan’s, Nightingale Rodima the Toff. B/t. Stylish and elegant as well as masculine. Lovely head with correct eye shape. Good reach of neck giving a proud head carriage. Oval front with shoulders fitting close. Good length of body. Moved with a free flowing action. CC and BOB. 2. Negus’s, Shardaroba Midnight Sun at Tarramist. Sh/r. Another dog with many excellent qualities. Soundly constructed with a coat in excellent condition. Moved with good strong action. 3. Girven’s, Twedle my Inspiration.

OD. (3). 1. McFaul’s, Ch. Darsoms Zwagerson. I liked the size of this dog. Well proportioned head and expressive eyes, good reach of neck. Good front with prominent breast bone. Long and muscular body with firm topline. Coat of correct texture. RCC. 2. Swann and Robert’s, Ch. Swansford Lanador. Quality red. A credit to the breed. Different to one above and will no doubt change places on other occasions. Well presented.

VD. (1). 1. Thompson’s, Metadale Magnum. Sh/r. Looking in tip top condition for a 10 year old. Moving well and obviously enjoying himself.

MPB. (2). 1. Metcalfe’s, Metadale Memories of You. What a super b/t. Just under 9 months. Feminine head, good forechest and correct shoulder placement. Nice bone and good tight feet. Long and low keeping a good topline on the move. Well presented. BPIB. 2. Jordan and Nightingale’s, Rodima Sugar Candy. Red. A different type to the winner. Higher in the leg and still carrying her puppy fat which gave the illusion of being short in body. I am sure this will correct itself as she slims down. Has a lovely head and good front and bone.

JB. (7). 1. Negus’s, Tarramist Angel of Harlem. Pleasing b/t. Good head, neck and topline. Well boned tight feet, strong driving hindquarters. 2. Warke’s, Darsom’s Fabtasia. Well balanced overall lovely bitch. She did not seem to like the ground and did not move so well on the day. 3. Wedge’s, Dolan Valentine Dream.

GB. (5). 1. Metcalfe’s, Metadale My Way. 19 months red. Feminine well shaped head with good reach of neck, good shoulder placement. Well boned tight feet. Good length of body and level topline. Free mover. 2. Cross’s, Bonavoir Siging the Blues at Loggeta. 17 months b/t. Another lovely bitch, well balanced, long and low, good forechest and shoulder placement. Coat in good condition. 3. Mitchell’s, Dacquoise Double Charm.

PGB. (4). 1. Lawrence’s, Peverleigh Follow the Vision. B/t. In lovely coat and condition. Well shaped head and dark eyes. Good front and level topline. Moved with strong driving action. 2. Cross’s, Bonavior Rhythm and Blues at Loggeta. Clear red. Appealing feminine head, firm body. Balanced all through but not quite in full coat but has a superb outline. 3. Kerry’s, Kireton Sylvia.

LB. (7). 1. Oxley’s, Owlery Dakota. Sh/r. Pleasing head and expression. Well balanced nicely ribbed and boned. Held a firm topline on the move. 2. Metcalfe’s, Metadale Mountain of Dreams. Red. Another nice bitch. Similar remarks as above apply. Carrying a little extra weight and this just spoiled the overall picture. 3. Edward and Pankhurst’s, Danward Symphony.

OB. (9). Three lovely specimens of the breed all worthy champions with little to separate them. 1. Geeson’s, Ch. Abydachs Give me the Future. B/t. This for me was ideal for size. Ultra feminine head, good forechest and shoulder placement. Ample bone. Firm topline and good round rump. Went round the ring with style. Coat in gleaming condition. CC. 2. Mitchell’s, Ch. Darsoms Zwagerbabe. Another bitch full of quality. Excellent head and lay back of shoulder. Long and low, coat in good condition, well groomed. Good outline on the move. RCC. 3. McFaul’s, Ch. Darsoms Zaraminta.

VB. (1). 1. Plevin’s, Abitibi Krysta Belle. 11 years of age. I had to check that this was the Veteran class. What a great shape this old lady is with her teeth in such wonderful clean condition for her age, and when she moved she put some of the younger ones to shame.
