LONG HAIRED

My thanks to the Committee for inviting me to judge at this new venue. It is not easy to organize a show at a new venue for the first time & my only criticism was the size of my ring ñ hounds need room to move & the ring was on the small size for them to be able to stride out, & this is where many of them failed by not having the drive required behind ñ some v close & some tummy tappers. Quite a variation in size but I was able to find enough of the correct size to please me. Presentation overall was gd & I only found three with dirty mouths. My thanks to the sporting exhibitors who gave me the opportunity to access their hounds.

PD (4). 1 Metcalfe’s Metadale Major Decision. 7 mnth red of correct size. Gd conical head & gd expression. Has gd front construction & gd ribbing, moved well if a little erratically at times. Should mature into a v nice hound; 2 Little’s Metadale Man Of The World. Litter brother of 1, same remarks apply but he was not as settled on the move, v promising when he gets his act together; 3 Dare’s The Hustler From Farsom. 10 mnths, bigger than I like, has a lovely head & eye, gd ribbing, needs to tighten overall. Preferred size of 2. JD McFoul’s Dachville Distant Dream. Stood alone. Young red, I have always admired from the ringside & I found nothing to change my opinion. Lovely head & expression, gd reach of neck, well angulated hindquarters, which he used to advantage when moving on a loose lead. RCC. PGD (3). 1 Mitchell’s Sebastian Sooty. Red, conical head, with lovely dark eye, gd front, well placed shoulders, gd ribbing, gd hind angulation, moved well; 2 Metcalfe’s Metadale Master Craftsman. B/t, larger size than I like, gd head & eye, gd reach of neck & well off for ribbing, preferred the movement of 1. LD Geeson’s Abydach Oh What A Night JW. My find of the day, shaded red, d, correct size, super head & expression, excellent front construction & hind angulation which he uses to perfection when moving on a loose lead. CC & BOB. Was delighted to see him go RBIS. OD (3). Three worthy champions & I found was splitting hairs between them. Movement was the deciding factor in the end. 1 Mitchell’s Ch Bronia Monte Cristo. Red of correct size, has all the essentials, lovely expression, gd shoulders & ribbing, gd hind angulation, moved the best in the small ring; 2 Metcalfe’s Ch Metadale MacQuarie. Again lovely size, same remarks apply, just preferred the movement of 1; 3 McFaul’s Int Ch Darsoms Zwagerson. Well known champion. Bigger than I like & did not move as freely as 1 & 2. PB (2). 1 Dare’s Bronia Huntress At Darsom’s. B/b, a v promising p with all the essentials but much too big for me; 2 Metcalfe’s Metadale Majorette. Litter sister to the 2 d p’s & same remarks apply. She was v unhappy on the floor & needs time to get together with her handler. JB (4). 1 Geeson’s Abydachs Hot Summer Nights. V feminine red sweet expression, correct front construction & well angulated rear, moved well on a loose lead, well presented; 2 Metcalfe’s Metadale Maid From Michigan. V little separated these two but preferred movement of 1; 3 Pigskin’s Metadale Moulin Rouge Oat Kindace. Bigger red, slightly out of coat & a bit over weight, gd ribbing, but needs more drive behind. NB (4). 1 Mitchell’s Bronia Playgirl. 7 mnth red with a lovely feminine head & eye, gd shoulders & gd topline & underline, still v much a p has potential. BP; 2 Paskin’s Metadale Maid In Manhatten At Kindace. Red, moved a bit close in front & not the angulation of 1; 3 Paskin’s Africandawns Night Russet At Kindace. Bigger than 1 & 2, higher on the leg, held gd topline on the move, slightly out of coat. PG (3). 1 McNaughton’s Ceda Voch Bewitched. Lovely red of correct size with gd front & oval ribbing, moved well but inclined to fall away behind when stacked; 2 Dare’s Bronia Stylistic To Darsoms. Lovely head, & gd eye, gd reach of neck & gd front & hind angulations, just too big overall to please me; 3 Mitchell’s Beonia Charisma. A well balanced girl of correct size, sweet head, just failed on movement to 2. LB (4). 1 RCC, Metcalfe’s Metadale Make It Happen. Excellent constructed b of correct size, great feet & well angulated both fore & aft. Movement won her this class over; 2 Mitchell’s Bronia Carmelita. Another class b & same remarks apply, just preferred the hind movement of 1; 3 Warke’s Loggeta Lavender Blue. B/t. Beautifully presented as always, has all the essentials but lacked the drive behind, I found this class the hardest to judge, as they were all v gd b’s & could & should change places. Would have liked to have judged them outside. OB (4). CC, McCall’s Dachville Perfect Blend. B/t, beautifully presented b in gleaming condition, filled my eye as she entered the ring & did not disappoint when going over her. Conical head with gd dark eye & feminine expression, gd reach of neck, well placed shoulders & great angulation, moved well but could not match the d in the challenge; 2 Metcalfe’s Metadale My Way. Red, well constructed b with gd shoulders & ribbing, held topline well on the move, gd hind angulation; 3 Geeson’s Ch Abydach Give Me The Future. B/t, celebrating her birthday today & not showing her age. A v nicely made girl & v sound overall, just preferred the movement of 2.
