PD (2) 1 BP, Chapman’s Melminds Zsylvester, impressive masculine shaded red, full of style, excellent topline & substance, super head carriage, plenty of bone, correct feet, well ribbed, strode out smartly. In the challenge turned it up a gear to take RCC, one to watch; 2 Johnson’s Africandawns The Rumor Runs, shaded red, quality head, OK topline, slightly taller type, well made hindquarters, a touch upright in front. Preferred bone & reach of 1. JD (3) 1 CC, Mitchell’s Ch Bronia Mr Pepys, quality red of excellent size & happy attitude without any exaggeration, OK head type, much the best front assembly among the males, enough bone for his size, good topline retained on the move, moved true in front, slightly narrow behind but scored heavily on his free side gait; 2 Cook & Rhodes’ Bournder Regency Malachite, bigger b/t, very solid & masculine, correct topline, well balanced, sound hindquarters. Not the refinement or carriage of 1 on the move; 3 Fossett’s Africandawns Night Gardian at Brysdax. PGD (2) 1 Dare & Guy’s Melminds Zitanic at Darsoms, masculine red, good topline & ribbing, excellent hindquarters, scored on bone & feet. Could have a shade more front angulation which is reflected on the move; 2 Fossett’s Brysdax Second To None, smaller more refined red of a quite different type, free active mover, good length of ribbing. Not quite the bone or topline of 1, a shade narrow in front. LD (5) 1 Cooke & Rhodes’ Abydachs Rides The Storm to Bournder, handsome masculine shaded red, the same shape on the move as standing, all of a piece, super topline, enough substance, good ribbing & bone, steady unexaggerated side gait. In the challenge just felt a shade more neck would have completed the picture; 2 Hutton’s River Rumpus through Dachalune, substantial b/t, excellent topline, good head carriage, true sound hindquarters, well bodied, moved out smartly, just preferred I’s front assembly but close up; 3 Johnson & Mitchell’s Africandawns Night Hawk. OD (4) 1 Dare’s Ch Bronia Salvador of Darsoms, handsome red of excellent balance, correct shape head, super topline, sound front, the right amount of bone, good length of ribbing, correct hind angulation. Standing made a very impressive picture but didn’t really use himself on the move in the challenge so lost out to the youngsters, the puppy being his son; 2 Marks’ Ch Brynalyn Royal Warrior via Labbadax, smaller neatly made boy with no exaggerations, balanced angulation, quality head, keeps his shape on the move. Again, just wish he would project himself a bit more in the ring & on the move. Sire of the BOB; 3 Hutton’s Rolo Rascal over Dachslune.

VB (1) 1 BV, Cook & Rhodes’ Ch Bournder Royal Sapphire, excellent b/t I always admired in her youth, quality feminine head, well balanced, OK neck & shoulders, good forechest, enough substance, good ribbing & hindquarters, strode out well. Not quite so firm in topline now. MPB (1) 1 Garlick’s Ranglewood Diamond Heist, just 6 months b/t & with all the charm & naughtiness you would expect at her first show, eventually let us see glimpses of a very promising baby, excellent angles, feminine & with plenty of quality, will look forward to seeing how she develops. BPB. PB (1) 1 Chapman’s Melminds Maleficent, sister to BP but different type. Feminine shaded red, good eye shape, OK topline, good forechest, slightly upright in front. Used her hindquarters well on the move but needs to steady in front action.JB (3) 1 Mitchell’s Africandawns Lilly’s Legacy at Bronia, good honest quality bitch who fits together well, OK front angles, excellent topline & hindquarters, true front, neatly made; 2 Cooke & Rhodes’ Bournder Ruby Empress, bigger shaded red, impressive outline, good head & forechest, moved well in front, could have a shade more rear drive and needs to gain a little in self-confidence in the ring; 3 Garlick’s Ranglewood May Blossom. PGB (4) 1 RCC, Garlick’s Ranglewood Justica, very handsome b/t with considerable style, caught my eye immediately. Super balance & hindquarters, good length of ribbing, purposeful mover, sound & with excellent reach & drive. Perhaps not quite so feminine as CC winner but one I’d be more than happy to own; 2 Chapman’s Melminds Miss Dior, finer type, not quite angulation or head of 1 but sensible length & outline, looked much better on the move than standing, levelled out and showed us a good length of stride; 3 Mitchell’s Bronia Diorella. LB (2) 1 Garlick’s Ranglewood Idesia, another nice b/t from this kennel, could be a shade more feminine in head but well angulated & sound, comes into her own on the move & sets off with great determination, really using her hindquarters; 2 Marks’ Labbadax Bletilla, complete contrast in type, longer & lower, Dachshunds may not be a ‘head breed’ but this one has the most beautiful refined conical head with correct eye shape, full of quality, great outline standing, good hindquarters, a shade close in front. Just wouldn’t make much of herself on the move so 1 strode away with the class. OB (6) Super class. 1 CC & BOB, Marks’ Ch Labbadax Belladonna, classic type red who screams quality & refinement, not overdone in size or substance, glamorous coat but one which enhances her outline, just flows from her beautiful head to tail, sound & true, her topline never wavered. Really turned it on in the group ring & I was thrilled to see Jean Blandford make her G3; 2 McFaul’s Ir Ch Dachville Classical Blend, she too has plenty of quality which is helped by her beautifully presented flat coat and sensible feathering. Good topline, enough substance, happy showgirl, well made hindquarters, just preferred front angulation of CC & RCC; 3 Roberts’ Swansford Whoopydora.
