SMOOTH HAIRED

It is some years since I have attended a dog show as anything other than a casual observer and I was pleased that all the dogs would be new to me as well as some of the exhibitors. Albeit with a small entry, I was faced with a wide variety of types from the large heavy boned to the cobby and on to the much smaller with a good deal less bone. Teeth were generally clean although I did remark two poor bites. Feet were good although some nails could have been shorter. P. (2). 1. McNaughton's, Cedavoch Altariel. 11 months old b/t bitch. Pleasing overall size. Good forechest and reach of neck. Went well round the ring with parallel movement. Very composed for one so young. BP and RBB. 2. Mitchell's, Silamdajo Mentwo Bea at Dubrey. 10 months old but still very much a baby. I would like to see her again when she has bodied up and settled down. J. 1. Williams's, Lauralee Charles Dickens. Handsome b/t male well off for bone and showed true hind movement. Good head and eye but still a little loose in front. Alone but a worthy winner. PG. (3). 1. Cooper and Kerry's, Sontag Sir Cumference of Kireton. Maturing b/t male well proportioned and good size. Pleasing head and eye. Well laid shoulders with good length of rib. Moved a little close behind. RBD. LD. (4). 1. Thomas's, Dubrey's Celtic Son. Good length of rib carried well back. Pleasing head and eye. Let down a little by erratic hind movement. Beautifully clean teeth. OD. (5). 1. McNaughton's, Cedavoch Honour Bound. Young b/t dog just 1 year old but already with commanding ring presence. Nice size and all well proportioned. Moved out with drive and must have a sparkling future. BOB. Very pleased that he went RBIS. 2. Burke and Manston's, Bonavoir Molton Brown. Bigger type chocolate dog with good bone. Level topline held on the move. 3. Hunt's, Ch/Ir Ch. D'arisca Class Distinction at Carpaccio JW. LB. (2). Two nice bitches, both of good size. Well put together and good outlines. I just preferred the overall balance of winner. Two true movers. 1. Hunt's, Carpaccio Precious Pearl JW. BB. 2. Mitchell's, Dubrey's the Explorer.
