I was looking for a dog that was not too big, had a good temperament and was not over done in front and who could move with style. I thought the breed had improved since I last judged them and this is a real credit to the breeders who have obviously worked hard.

Bites were all correct but I am surprised that exhibitors pay all that money and bring dogs with dirty teeth and long nails and no muscle! All aspects that would improve their chances with a little house work at home before the day!

MPD 1/0abs

-----------------

1st Armstrong LAURALEE NICHOLAS NICKLEBY

B/T with good head and eye. Moved well and had good shoulder, ribbing and quarters. Rather over awed by the proceedings today.

PD 1/0abs

--------------

1st BP Andison and Peel EXCELLMAGIC WONDERFUL WAY

Interesting brindle who needs to body up to complete. Good head and eye. Can see the potential here but is still very raw. Will be a different dog in another twelve months and would like to see him again then.

J D 1/0abs

--------------

1st String fellow SONTAG SILVAN SORCERER

Red who is big enough and was just confident enough to stand his ground. Movement was good but was a little proud of his tail. Correct ground clearance. Typical head and expression.

PG D 1/oabs

----------------

1st CC BOB Higgins LEVELISS SAUCY SAILOR

B/T Good size and balance of height to length. Well muscled. Not overdone in front. Typical head and good expression. Excellent temperament. Well off for bone, good feet and legs. Level topline. Movement was good in profile and up and back. Had some style and spirit which I like. Noble head carriage which took him over the reserve cc winner. A well balanced d without exaggeration.

L D 4/1abs

--------------

1st Cox Cobo and Fellows RALINES DARK KNIGHT

B/T Great temperament and in hard muscular condition. Good shoulder and ribbing. Head, neck and hind quarters all good. Rather heavy through and a tad over done at front. Beat two on better rib and shorter loin.

2nd Furber  GAMERON SMART CHOICE TO DORYSA

B/T Lovely head and expression. Movement was steady but would profit from being able to be taken at a faster pace. Held his topline.

3rd Jones and Jones HAMPDACH WHO MADE WHO FOR ADNERD

OD 3/1abs

-------------

1st Res CC Macdonald MULTI CH BENSARKA PHOENIX SUN

Red d of quality. Elegant head . Super temperament and very well handled. Well ribbed back and in hard muscular condition. Lovely neck and clean shoulder. Liked him a lot and it was a close thing between him and the cc winner but after several circuits of the ring he just started to poke his head a little and drop back which cost him here. A lovely d though.

2nd Starkey CARPACCIO JASPER FROM HAMOURA

B/T A tad loose in elbow and a shade shorter in ribbing than first but a good type of dachshund. Moved well enough and had a typical head with pleasing expression.

MP B 1/0abs

----------------

1st Hone OXONDACHS ENCHANTED

Red. A little shy but stood her ground enough to go through. Everything was in the right place and she is what she is, a baby at present. Will be a different picture in another twelve months.

J B 4/1abs

--------------

1st CC Hunt CARPACCIO HERSHEY KISSES

Choc/tan who won this class with some in hand. Correct size and steady temperament.

Good ground clearance. Head, neck and shoulder good. Feet could be a tad tighter for perfection. Pigment good for colour. Well ribbed back, short loin, well handled. Driving movement and good muscle tone. Only a youngster and will get even better with age. Lost to the d in the challenge on maturity.

2nd Andison and Peel SONTAG SUE CHERSELF

Red with great temperament who showed free standing and was well handled. Lovely head and eye. A shade longer in loin than winner. Moved reasonably well.

3rd Hone OXONDACHS CANDY GIRL

PG B 4/0abs

---------------

1st Furber DORYSA DOLLY VARDEN

B/T Good headed b who was rather hampered by her handler not being able to move her quickly enough, however I was able to see sufficient of the good driving and extension to award this place. Lovely ribbing and shoulder. Well bent stifle. Good to go over.

2nd Hinwood HAMPDACH AMATHYST UNDEG

Red. Preferred the size of this one and initially thought she would win, but her hind movement let her down by being very wide and uneconomical. Lovely head and carriage. Unnecessary to force a squat on the table, it does not help the top or underline.

3rd Hone OXONDACHS BON BON

L B 4/0abs

--------------

1st Burke and Manston BONAVOIR TESTA ROSA

Red with the best temperament in class. Bit on the big side but very honest and well made. A good brood type b. Good ribbing and shoulders. Front, feet and head all very satisfactory. Moved true out and back and in profile.

2nd McNaughton CEDAVOCK SORNN

Red of better size with steady enough temperament. Not quite the elbow or rib of first but good head and eye and movement true. Kept her topline and had good quarters.

3rd Armstrong LAURALEE LUSH LASHES

O B 4/0abs

---------------

1st Res CC Macdonald BENSARKA GOLDEN GARTER

Red with lovely head properties. Good outline and ground clearance. Bold temperament and arrogant head carriage. Flowing neck and shoulder. A shade long. Well handled and in good muscular condition. Beat two on hind quarters.

2nd Hunt CH CARCAPPIO COGNAC DIAMOND

Choc with good pigment. Better length than one but not quite the bend of stifle of first. Good solid temperament. Well handled. Moved with some arrogance.

3rd Turner  MARICTUR MOULIN ROUGE
