A pleasure as always to judge dachshunds, the entry was disappointingly small, fortunately the quality of those present was high. A large grassed ring gave plenty of space to assess movement, which I have to say was better than expected.
MPD (1) 1 Hunt. Carpaccio Trouble In Store.  Top quality 6mth b/t, very much in the mould of his sire, good proportions, lovely head shape with strong jaw, balanced angulation in fore and hindquarters, well ribbed back, firm topline, lovely bone and feet, holds a good shape on the move, liked his attitude, very promising.
JD (2) These 2 exhibits presented me with a dilemma regarding size/proportions, I chose in favour of. 1 Starkey.   Carpaccio Topic Of The Day Is Hamoura.  15mths choc/tan liked his size and correct proportions, has adequate angulation, is well ribbed back and pleases in firm topline and smooth underline, adequate ground clearance, moved out soundly, could be a touch more masculine in his headpiece. 2 Tite's Phaeland Special Driver At Rijobeau.   Upstanding 13mth red of undoubted quality, most handsome headpiece, excellent angulation, well ribbed back, however I was disappointed that he appeared to be carrying too much condition, gave the appearance of being 'overdeveloped' in his front and too low to ground.
PGD (2) 1 Jeffery. Carpaccio Swan Song at Andax.  15mth b/t nice stamp of a dog, again has the look of his sire, handsome head, good proportions and ground clearance, pleasing angulation, well filled oval thorax, well ribbed back, held a good outline on the move. 2 Stringfellow. Sontag Silvan Sorcerer.  Handsomely headed rich red of 15mths, good ribbing and proportions, not the forehand of 1, for some reason appeared tense in his topline on the move.
LD (3) 1) Armstrong. Lauralee Nicholas Nickelby. High quality b/t of 19mths, of pleasing size and proportions height/length, enough ground clearance, handsome head proudly carried, balanced angulation front and rear, well filled oval thorax not overdone, elbows carried close to chest , well ribbed back with short loin, pleasing top and underline, well rounded rump with tail well set, short hocks, carried himself well to gain the Res C.C. 2 Tite.  Rijobeau Hot On Your Heels.  Have judged this handsome b/t before when he was a puppy, at that time I liked his type/proportions/carriage enough for him to gain BP and Res CC,  at 5 yrs I still like the type and angulation, but found him  'overdeveloped' in his front , with too much weight, has deepened to the point of insuffcient ground clearance, and today did not have the carriage or attitude of 1, as much a disappointment for myself as for the owner.  3 Jones. Hampdach Who Made Who For Adnerb.
OD (4) 1 Hunt. Ch Cwmdarhian Hogan's Hero at Carpaccio JW.  Top quality 4yr b/t who took all before him today, very masculine in outlook, pleased in proportions and ground clearance, liked his head and expression, neat well filled front not overdone, close fitting elbows, well ribbed back, holds himself well with firm topline and smooth underline, good bone and feet, very good length of upper arm which enabled him to move out with such freedom, outperformed everyone else today. C.C. & B.O.B. 2 Macdonald.  Multi Ch Bensarka Phoenix Sun.  Very elegant and refined 5yr red of obvious quality, quite different in type to 1, good head carriage, balanced angulation, good in top and underline, has all the essentials and was sound in movement, could not match the performance of 1 and would ideally like a more masculine headpiece, close up in the challenge. 3 Higgins. Ch Leveliss Saucy Sailor.
VB (1) 1 Armstrong.  Ch Lauralee Peeping Fawn.  Attractively headed red now 7yrs, pleasing type, well ribbed back, holds herself well on the go around, would ideally like to see  a little more ground clearance. BV.
PB (1) 1 Higgins. Leveliss Hong Kong Garden.  Liked this 11mth b/t for her size and proportions, good ground clearance, most lovely feminine head and expression, nicely put together although would like to see more return of upperarm, well ribbed back, moved out soundly and smartly.
JB (3) 1 Bennett.  Shardaroba's Dream Baby   Elegant red of 16 mths, pleased for size and outline, lovely head and expression, well filled forechest, close fitting elbows, good in both top and underline, very lively on the move needing to settle. 2 Tite.  Phaeland Starlite Dancer At Rijobeau.  Another elegant red of 13 mths, lovely for type and angulation, litter sister to 2nd in JD and like him spoilt for carrying too much condition, was a little unsettled on the table. 3 Jones.  Hampdach In These Arms Of Adnerb. JW.
LB (1) 1 Armstrong. Lauralee Lush Lashes.  High quality red rising 3yrs, liked her size and balance, lovely front assembly, well ribbed back, has a tendency to run up behind, moves out soundly away and back but appeared hurried in her profile gait.
OB (3) 1Hunt.  Ch Sontag Shanda Leah JW.  Most lovely 2yr red of the highest quality, ticked all the boxes, angulation, size, proportions, ground clearance, beautiful head and expression, excelled in top and underline, very sound in her movement, no hesitation in awarding her the C.C. When it came to BOB was outperformed by her kennel mate. 2 Macdonald. Bensarka Golden Garter.  Very elegant and stylish s/r of 5yrs, refined feminine headpiece, proud head carriage, balance in outline with good proportions height: length, firm in topline and smooth underline, pleases in fore and hind angulation, moved out soundly, pleased to award her the Res C.C. 3 Armstrong.  Lauralee Alexandrova.
