It was an honour to be asked to judge Miniature Long Hair & Standard Smooth Haired Dachshunds without CC’s at this sub group championship show. I had a super day despite one exhibitor questioning my placings!

 

Dachshund (Smooth Haired) Veteran Dog or Bitch (1,0 abs)

 

1^st. Borrelli’s – Carpaccio Black Pearl. Pretty B/T girl with a pleasing head & kind eye. Super front & good feet, excellent neck & forehand, good topline, underline & quarters. She moved out well in all directions. BVIB.

 

Dachshund (Smooth Haired) Puppy Dog (2,0 abs)

 

1^st. McNaughton’s – Cedavoch Struuann. What a stunning boy this 10 month old red is. He has the most super head, eye & expression, textbook forehand with good angles & a very tidy front. Rock solid topline with strong loin, good depth of chest, well ribbed back & good underline. He is all of a piece & presented the most beautiful picture both stacked & on the move. Sound as a pound with an excellent footfall, he really is out of the Top Drawer. I’m sure his title will not be far away. BD, BOB & BPIB.

 

2^nd. Starkey’s – Carpaccio Magnum PI at Hamoura. 6 month old B/T boy out of a larger mould. Pleasing head & expression, good neck & forehand, ok front although I would prefer a little more bone & shorter nails. Good topline & hindquarters. Needs to body up & settle as it was rather difficult to assess movement today, shown in gleaming condition.

1^st. Chauhan’s – Raajput’s Blacky Returns. Excellent head & eye on this B/T boy. He has a super forehand, reachy neck into excellent topline, good spring of rib & underline, strong loin & good tailset. His quarters are well made & well-muscled which allowed him to power round the ring freely & soundly. He just gets a little too full of himself & can bunch his topline up on the move, but when collected he is fine.

 

Dachshund (Smooth Haired) Puppy Bitch (3,0 abs)

 

1^st. Jennings’ – Clentry Sweet Melody. Red 7 month old girl with a pretty head & dark eye. Good forehand, topline & hindquarters, good ribbing & depth of chest & good underline. She moved out soundly & with style.

 

2^nd. McNaughton’s – Cedavoch Argentine Tango. Stunning 8 month old red girl with a beautiful head & eye, excellent neck & shoulder, super topline & quarters. I thought she would be my winner but wasn’t keen stacked on the floor & wasn’t as positive on the move as the winner. 

 

3^rd. Bethel’s – Great Kapriz Ogita to Hampdach NAF TAF. Lighter framed B/T girl of 9 months old. She has a pleasing head & eye, good neck & keel, ok topline & good hindquarters. Needs to tighten all round.

1^st. O’Brien’s – Almaznyi Laretz Europe II at Delekadax Kennel. B/T girl with a pretty head & eye. Super front & feet, good neck & shoulder, lovely topline & good underline if a little frilly at present. Excellent hindquarters & good croup, moved soundly out & back with a good footfall in profile.

1^st. Chauhan’s – Adnerb Forever Charmed at Raajput. Red girl with a lovely head & eye, super neck & shoulder, good front & feet. She has an excellent topline, underline & well-muscled quarters, presented a lovely outline both stacked & on the move & was sound in all directions.

 

2^nd. Tomlinson’s – Bensarka Emerald Isle to Melisdax. Pretty head & eye, adequate neck, good shoulder & ok front & feet. Good topline, underline & quarters, she moved out well & was shown in excellent condition.

 

Dachshund (Smooth Haired) Open Bitch (4,1 abs)

 

1^st. Lockett-Walters’ – Ch. Ralines For Pete’s Sake. B/T girl of class, she has a super head, with dark expressive eye, good neck, excellent forehand, good bone & tight feet. She carries her topline well, has a good depth of chest, spring of rib & is well ribbed back to strong loin. Her quarters are so well made & well-muscled & she stands totally square behind, true out & back with a good stride. A worthy BB & BOS.

 

2^nd. Chauhan’s – Adnerbs Take A Chance On Me at Raajput. Stunning B/T girl who is shapely & smart, she has a good expressive eye in a well-shaped headpiece. Super neck, shoulder & forehand, level topline, good underline & excellent hindquarters. So sound & true with a great outlook on life, I just preferred the overall balance of the winner, but she pushed very hard for top honours. RBB.

 

3^rd. Borrelli’s – Philabar The Original. Pretty B/T with a lovely head, eye & expression. She has a pleasing forehand, good topline, ribbing & quarters. She moves soundly with a good stride & was not disgraced with her placing here.
