I was a stand in judge and although not huge entry I was impressed by the quality, but most of all the temperaments, which were excellent and most of my winners were sired by an American dog, GR CH Brownwood’s Best Gift V Diagram. Many many years ago I judged a dachshund speciality show in America and put up fabulous standard smooth bitch owned and bred by the Brownwood Kennel, it’s fabulous that they have sent a dog over here to the UK that has made such a difference in the breed, with type but especially temperaments.

Puppy Dog (4)
1st: MCNAUGHTON Cedavoch Rohan – Fell in love with this boy as soon as he entered the ring. So full of potential and enthusiasm, he commanded attention. He encompasses everything I love in a dachshund… masculine houndy head, long neck, impressive fore chest, strong solid iron bar topline, well angulated front and back and really using this to power around the ring, covering the ground with ease. When he came back in for the challenge he still stood out for me and I couldn’t deny him the CC & BP.
2nd: ANDISON & PEEL Clentry Tiger Feet –another lovely puppy who was unlucky to meet 1 on such good form. Correct head & eye with reachy neck, excellent bone and substance, good spring of rib and well angulated front and back. Moved well.
3rd: PAGET & CARROLL's MarvaleStatesman

Res: COUPLAND Retrohound Hermes

Junior Dog (2)
1st: JENNINGS Marvale's Manifesto at Jenivon – another impressive dog. HOundyhead, excellent fore chest and well made front all through, well angulated hind quarters. Moved well with good striding and driving movement.
2nd: Cedavoch Calenhad – still very much a baby but another impressive dog from this kennel. Similar remarks apply to him as his brother but just not as together on the move yet and gave away this class to the more mature junior.

Limit Dog (2/1)
1st: BINKS Cedavoch Ocean Storm – Liked this dog a lot, beautiful type with masculine head, well constructed front, good spring of rib, excellent underline, correctly balanced front and back, keeping his outline both stacked and on the move. Pushed hard in the challenge.

Open Dog (1)
1st: CHAUHAN Ch Raajputs Blacky Returns– a beautiful masculine b&t dog with a wonderful temperament who I have admired from the ringside and wasn’t disappointed on going over him. Everything in the right place, so well made and balanced both in conformation and movement. Didn’t cope as well on the slippy floor and carrying a bit too much weight for me today so gave way to the puppy who stole my heart! I see they are by the same sire, certainly a dog who has made an impact on this breed. Res CC.

Puppy Bitch (3)
1st: TOMLINSON Melisdax Memories of May– pretty baby in the best of condition with a beautiful gleaming coat. Beautiful head & eye, more compact in type and so balancedwith excellent ribbing and short strong loin.Well angulated front & back and so sound on the move.
2nd: MCNAUGHTON Cedavoch Lothlorien – beautiful puppy, very much on the same lines as her brothers but just not as settledwhich meant she gave the class away.
3rd: HOLBURN Marvale Party Politics at Glenlion

Junior Bitch (3)
1st: PEEL & ANDISON Clentry Crunchy Carrot – Lovely red bitch who was feminine but still with all the bone and substancerequired of a standard smooth. Pretty head, correct eye and excellent fore chest. Well balanced with lovely hindquarters and moved out really well.

2nd: TOMLINSON Melisdax Magnolia in May– very much of a type with her sister who won PB and again in such beautiful condition and so well constructedthroughout.

3rd:  PEEL & ANDISON Clentry MagoPassion

Post Graduate Bitch - NO ENTRIES

Limit Bitch (8 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: PATERSON Cwmdarhian The Mistress – really liked this elegant b&t bitch. Well made with nothing over exaggerated andbrilliant temperament. Beautiful feminine head & dark almond shaped eye. Lovely length of neck into well placed shoulders, tight feet, strong topline held throughoutand covered the ground so well with lovely driving movement. A little exuberant at times but loved that about her and she is super elegance. RCC.

2nd: HANNEY-MITCELL Bronia Solar Flare –Really lovely bitch and another by the American sire. Splitting hairs between her and 1, she has more substance but I preferred the elegance of 1. Excellent head & bone, good construction and lovely free and easy movement.

3rd: JENNINGS Clentry Sweet Melody

Res: PEEL & ANDISON Clentry Mickey Mania

Open Bitch (5 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: CHAUHAN Ch Adnerbs Take A Chance On Me At Raajput – stunning b&t bitch, she completely filled my eye and was everything I was looking for in a standard smooth. Feminine and elegant yet with strength and substance and the most fantastic movementwith power, pace and drive! Fabulous from her beautiful houndy head and elegant neck, to her strong and well angulated hindquarters. I just absolutely loved everything about her. CC & BoB.
2nd: PATERSON Cwmdarhian The Mistress
3rd: ROBERTS Cedavoch Blowing A Gale to Swansford
