Of the six Dachshunds, this size and coat variety displays fully the marvellous temperament and lively personality that makes them such good family dogs and companions. Rock steady yet full of fun and mischief. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Wires here. Most stood well when stacked on the table but quite a few lost their topline when moving and free standing. Coats generally were of harsh texture and eyes were wonderful. Hocks could have been shorter in some and front movement too left something to be desired.

MPD(1) 1 and BP, Rollinson’s Bystock Double O Seven At Nosinllor. 6 and a half months, sound and well constructed puppy that I liked very much, already has a good topline, attractive head, dark eyes, harsh jacket, used his neck, moved soundly, didn’t like the blow heater near us but he performed well enough.

PD (1) 1 Farrell &Lamb’s Barembak Whats It All About At Lazeybears. 8 months, masculine head, accommodating character, excellent bone, still got his puppy coat, showed quite well, good body, hind action could be better, sympathetically handled. JD(3) Good class with three different juniors. 1 Phillips’ Cishelvine Swellegant Guy At Tendrow. 14 months, smart young male in excellent form, very good topline and overall proportions, intelligent expression, harsh jacket, obliging showman, clean neck, tail wagging constantly. 2 Skinner’s Ritterburg Storm Trooper. Yearling shown in his underclothes, good length of head, expressive eyes, firm body and quarters, moved well, just a shade slack in topline on the move. 3 Maxwell’s Tannahill Ash At Bardrestan. Another quality youngster who was not at all disgraced to be third.

PGD(8) 1 Surrell &Coleman’s Bokra Tabasco. 20 months masculine head, excellent bone and feet, well constructed and held his topline going round, harsh jacket, laid back happy character, steady showman, sound and assertive on the move, handled to best advantage, made the most of himself and fully deserved the big green card. 2 Rees’ rmewood Joint Effort. 2 years old, a bit short of coat today, quality head, good neckline, moved with a purpose, excellent type. 3 Skinner’s Ritterburg Storm Trooper.

LD (7, 1) 1 Coverley’s Aventine Tropic Thunder. 2 years old, excellent coat texture, good bone and body, well ribbed up, muscular neck, moved well, delightful personality, quality head, dark eyes. 2 Edwards &Lavin’s Swincombes Darite Of Bellavin. Two and a half years old, pushed hard for first place, good head, eyes and expression, excellent coat, strong body, well muscled quarters, well conditioned and handled, good type and size, just not 100 per cent in front movement. 3 Dible &Kent’s Monisi On The Town.

OD (5) Good class but quite difficult I thought. 1 and RCC, McCalmont, Heywood &Pedrosa’s Ch/Am Ch Treis Pinheiros Zucchini. 6 years old, excellent performer throughout, most co-operative showman with good ring presence, well proportioned, attractive head, intelligent expression, very good topline which he held on the move, harsh jacket, moved better in front than the others in this class but would have liked to see firmer hind action, well conditioned and handled. 2 Dible’s Ch Lieblings Stormin Norman. Smart looking 3 year old red, dark, sparkling eyes, well fitting jacket, fit and well muscled, good neck and topline, went with drive behind, well ribbed up, happy and animated showman. 3 Vine’s Cishelvine Sea Swell.

MPB(7) 1 and Best PB, Barney’s Molloney On Denise For Romaunt. 7 months, no mistaking her for anything but a bitch, feminine and very self assured, excellent coat and texture, pretty head, knowing eyes, good neck and shoulders, held her topline well, easy mover, well handled. To be picky, I should like a shade more bone. 2 Pughe &Fraser’s Bystock Pussy Galore. 6 months, quality head, hard coat, excellent bone, legs and feet, firm body, moved well, just needs to improve in topline, litter sister to BP. 3 Mease’s Barembak Bomb Balerina.

PB (4, 1) 1 Pughe &Fraser’s Bystock Black Truffle. 7 months, confident, stylish puppy, good neckline, firm body, well muscled, pleasing head, expressive eyes, moved well, just needs to grow into herself. Sired by RCC winner. 2 Carruthers &Marston-Pollock’s Stanegate Ice Maiden. 9 months red in her underwear today, feminine head, well proportioned, moved ok behind, could be better in front, excellent bone, well handled. 3 Dible’s Lieblings Tiger Lily.

JB(7, 1) 1 Marston-Pollock’s Cloudside Lara. 17 months, stylish bitch in good coat and form, held her topline when moving, animated and focused showgirl, good head and eyes, well muscled quarters. 2 Seath’s Boloria’s Kaleena At Sunsong. Twelve and a half months, good size and type, pleasing head, harsh coat, moved well, clean neckline, well proportioned, no more weight please. Just giving a bit of age away here. 3 Phillips’ Tendrow Replayed In Red.

PGB (5) 1 Watson’s Quitrutec Somehow Here At Toftwick. 4 years old, lovely coat texture, good silhouette standing, attractive head, excellent bone and ribcage, moved ok, topline sank a little on the move. 2 Gibson’s Allfreys Starduster. Two and a half year old red, out of coat, feminine head, dark eyes, good body and quarters, moved ok, just needs coat to complete the picture. 3 Skinner’s Ritterburg Desert Storm.

LB (8, 2) 1 Davies’ Atahira Centissima. 2 years old, fit and healthy looking bitch with strong body, well muscled quarters, excellent coat texture, easy mover, steady showgirl, good length of head, expressive eyes. 2 Phillips’ Tendrow Poetic Justice. Nearly 3 years, very smart red in good condition, well ribbed up, feminine head, intelligent expression, firm topline and quarters, moved with drive behind, could be slightly tidier in front. 3 Mease’s Weaverwire Florin.

OB(9, 3) 1, CC and BOB, McCalmont’s Ch Silvae Zest. Beautiful bitch, 2 years plus, has class and quality stamped all over her, lovely head, excellent neckline and topline, assertive showgirl, sound, active mover, marvellous coat, body and condition, had to pull out all the stops to beat second. 2 Bates &Maes-Jones’ Ch Derochaise Black Orchid. 2 years, dark black/br, such a shapely, sound bitch, moved with reach and drive, clean outline, fit body, held her topline well, feminine head, sparkling eyes, two amazing bitches, RCC. 3 Patton’s Ir Ch Leandnic Lily Agnes.
