Hototo Ain't She Sweet
Since judging the breed last the Breed
Standard has been revised with regards to the ratio of height to
length and this certainly influenced some of my decisions. One of my
concerns last time I judged was that many exhibits were not
balanced, and this is still the case, many were very short in the
tibia, it is impossible for a Dachshunds hind end to have the
required 90 degree angles if the tibia is short, the result,
straight stifles. Feet on the whole were very poor with thin
spreading pads. On the day, with the exception of one exhibitor,
everyone took my decisions in good part considering that I was a
replacement judge, I do hope Mr Mather will be well enough to return
to his duties soon
MPD
(3) 1 Wharton’s Elmore James Greyhayne. Masculine head. Correct
coat. Rather steep in shoulder at present, and long in loin. Well
angulated hind end. Movement OK. 2 Howlett & Prowting’s Boloria Fine
Spice. Well up in the leg. Lovely head. Well angulated hind end.
Movement OK. 3 Russell & Hutchings’ Collidach Russell Leeves.
PD (6,1) 1 Vines’ Cishelvine
Coriolanus. Lovely red dog, best front construction, and best feet
in the class. Moves well fore and aft. Would prefer a more almond
shaped eye. Shorter in loin than most. Created a super outline stood
and on the move. Best dog puppy. 2 Wharton’s Szymon Majewski Vh
Rulwielse. Smart wild boar with fabulous coat. Not quite the front
of 1, as shorter in upper arm. Moved well fore and aft, giving a
lovely outline on the move. 3 Moore & Dean’s Upor Von Huberhornwith
Dierfiur (Imp Rom).
JD
(5,2) 1 Vine’s Cishelvine Quinillion. Still very raw but had by far
the best construction in the class. Very good feet. Excellent free
movement, just needs to body up. 2 Shaw’s Tendrow Will I Am. Lovely
red, plenty of him. Pleasing head. Super outline on the move, but
sadly would not let me assess him properly on the table. 3 Adams
Ellesophia Fly Me To The Moon.
PGD
(7) 1 Mountford’s Incordemeo Beetle About. Loved this exhibit.
Aristocratic head, with great reach of neck. Feet better than most.
Well angulated front and rear. Beautiful outline on the move. From a
distance you could be looking at a Smooth, just the furnishings
giving it away. I was very tempted to award him the CC but he wasn’t
quite as polished as the Open winner in the Challenge. 2 Best’s
Stanegate Set Em Up Joe For Bestina. A rather naughty boy that
doesn’t immediately catch the eye, but very honest. Better feet than
most and strides out well. The handler could get so much more out of
him, I would recommend a change of lead. 3 Wills’ Kasalane Ostiriato
Over Cishelvine.
LD (11,4) 1 Norman’s Silvae Trade
Name. Very happy chap. Attractive head with reachy neck. Excellent
construction front and rear. Tail set a little high, but by far the
best construction in the class. 2 Ord & Ainsley’s Cloudside
Sebastian Of Marnadee. A bit on the big side for my tastes, but has
a well constructed front and good feet. Hind end not as well
angulated as front. Beautifully presented, and moved out well. 3
Matthews Stanegate Billy The Kid At Sonham.
OD (5) 1 Vlad Megline British Tobacco.
Of outstanding construction. Arrogant masculine head, good enough
jacket. Moved really freely. Wouldn’t want him any bigger. Sometimes
his topline falls away from the withers when stood, but not on the
move and won the Dog CC on his free movement and superb
construction. 2 Phillips’ Ch. Royal Pepper’s Vice Versa. Smaller
dog. Well constructed , kept his outline at all times stood and on
the move, very sound. Preferred the rear end of 1. 3 Carruthers’ Ch
Aikton Alexander At Stanegate.
VD (1) 1 Coverley’s Ch Avantine
Jamaica Inn. Nearly 10 years and not showing his age at all.
Correctly constructed , no exaggeration and moved really well. Super
feet. Well angulated and well muscled behind with correct topline at
all times. An absolute credit to his owner. Best Veteran.
SBD
(3) 1 Tinker-Haldane’s Dollydash Never Enough. Has the better
construction, and is shorter coupled. Nice jacket, though head
needed attention. Again, I would suggest a different lead. 2 Horne’s
Salixian Morroccan Mint. Well presented. Again short coupled.
Preferred the front of 1, and pasterns need strengthening. 3 Mason’s
Bramalodge Bet On The Blues
MPB
(2) 1 Hutchings’ Collidach Raynee Day. Red bitch right up my street.
Well constructed, with excellent parallel hind movement. Lovely
jacket, super outline stood and on the move. Best Puppy. 2 Graham
Boloria Wild Spice. Fabulous jacket. Preferred the front of 1, but
nevertheless a promising puppy. Pasterns need strengthening.
PB
(8,3) 1 Pughe & Fraser’s Bystock Sea Nymph. Very promising puppy,
beautifully handled and presented. Best front in class and with more
hind angulation the most. Lovely outline stood and on the move. 2
Rowe’s Boloria Sugar ‘N Spice. Another promising puppy of only 6
months. Lovely jacket. Free moving. 3 Matthews Stanegate Senorita.
JB
(10,1) 1 Howlett & Phillips’ Tendrow Makes The Right Turn. Fabulous
outline stood and on the move. Really well balanced having correct
angulation front and rear. Pretty head, with a very good jacket.
Made life very hard for her handler. 2 Coverley’s Aventine Aunt
Patience. Very nice honest bitch. Had she been in full coat she may
well have taken the class. Just the right size, lovely reach of
neck, with good angulation fore and aft. 3 Waller’s Lady In Roseyred.
PGB (7,3) 1 Mountford’s Incordemeo My
Story. Very similar to her brother who won PG Dog and the reserve
CC. Not quite as all together yet. 2 Phillips’ Tendrow What I Am I
Am. Lovely red bitch, super outline stood and on the move. Correct
angulation front and rear. Super jacket. Hind movement not quite so
parallel as 1. 3 Brierley’s Bramalodge Bonfire Heart At Tatze.
LB (10,2) 1 Hanney-Mitchell, McCalmont
& McCalmont’s Silvae Time After Time At Bronia. No exaggeration
here, so well balanced. Haughty, aristocratic head and expression,
with good reach of neck. Feet better than many. Correct angulation
front and rear providing true sound movement at both ends. Lovely
outline stood and on the move. Sufficient ground clearance to comply
with the new Breed Standard. Expertly handled and presented, I hear
she gained her crown the next day, I’m not remotely surprised. Bitch
CC & BOB. 2 Mountford’s Tendrow Special Creation. Gorgeous bitch,
lovely shape. Good jacket. Superb front, with good hind angulation.
Lost out to 1 on her feet. 3 Phillips’ Tendrow Wired To Succeed.
OB (6,1) 1 Sail On Sailor To Full
Circle. Nice size and not overly long. Correct angulation fore and
aft, and moved out really well. Good jacket and better feet than
most. Would like more ground clearance, and preferred the head and
expression of the Limit bitch winner when it came to the Challenge.
Res CC. 2 Hutchings Ch Collidach Brook Ling. Very nice bitch with
lovely outline. Super construction. Lost out to 1 on feet. 3
McCalmont’s Ch Silvae Fan Dancer.
SBB (4) 1 Mountford Incordemeo Angel
Beside Me. Very honest bitch, well constructed and very feminine.
Keeps outline stood and on the move. Well presented. 2 Parrot.
Derochaise Blue Angel At Marondera. Super coated bitch. Not the
front of 1 but pleasing outline on the move. Lovely feminine head. 3
Hudson-Lund Hototo Ain’t She Sweet.
