Firstly, thank you to Paignton Championship Show Committee for inviting me to judge the Standard Wire Dachshunds – your hospitality is second to non. The standard of the exhibits was good overall – with only 1 bad mouth and 3 with dirty teeth – unforgiveable in my book. My main winners were superb quality, and my BOB was outstanding and a joy to be given the chance to judge such a super example of the breed. A big thank you to the exhibitors for their entries. SBD/B (3) 1 Jackson, & Jackson, Hototo’s Speculator Super conical head with good eye. Good length of neck, flowing into correct shoulder placement. Adequate length of ribbing with good rear angulation which gave good true movement  - with drive.  BSB 2 Parker, Vixendax You And Me At Zorionadax Similar comments to 1st place..good keel and shoulder placement, lovely length of ribbing. Correct loin with good rear angulation - not quite the movement of 1 today. 3 Healey, Vixendax Solstice Ba4 MPD (2,1) 1 Healey, Vixendax Solstice Ba4 Nice masculine head with good eye shape and  ear set. Good length of neck with good shoulders. Nice front which added to the appearance. Good ribbing and strong rear quarters - nice free movement. PD (2) 1 Rowe & Rowe, Boloria Goodnight Mr Tom Masculine conical head with good eye. Nice front with tight shoulders - good length of ribbing with good loin.  Correct rear movement allowed him to move freely around the ring with purpose.  BPIB 2 Sanders, Knottsrose Olaf A dog with a lovely head and eye - good expression. Not the front of 1 - however everything else was in the right place and he moved well. JD (3) 1 Howlett & Phillips, Tendrow Malibar JW Good to watch - super head and neck - well ribbed with a strong loin. Super rear angulation - well presented in harsh correct coat pleased to award the DCC 2 Moore, Cloudside Vincent Well constructed male, correct shoulder placement with good ribs and loin. Held his topline on the move - heavier type than 1 but a lovely lad - shame to be up against 1. 3 Baillie, Hototo Master Craftsman Res: YD (4) 1 Pughe & Fraser, Stanegate Stefan At Bystock Lovely head and expression, dark eye with good ear set, correct bite. Nice muscular neck with good body shape. Super rear angulation and topline - maintained on the move. 2 Seath Ch Sunsong Dare To Dream Masculine head with good ear length. Good furnishings. Good neck and shoulder placement. Nice rib length - well covered. Moved with drive and purpose. 3 Matthews, Sonham Fire Cracker PGD (2) 1 Jackson, & Jackson, Elderkine Special Brew Red dog of good type with a super outline. Good topline stacked and on the move. Good front with depth of keel - super ribs and moved well. 2 Matthews, Sonham Fire Cracker Nice head and eye, good neck and shoulders. Adequate length of rib with nice rear angulation. Not the movement of 1 today. LD (1) 1 Akehurst, Boloria All Spice Super head with good ear set and almond eye - this gave a lovely expression. Lovely outline - pleasing to the eye. Good spring of rib - moved well and freely. OD (1) 1 Phillips, Ch Royal Pepper’s Vice Versa (Imp Fin) Super head, lovely well made and well muscled neck. Lovely set shoulders with nice tight elbows. Good ribbing - super harsh coat - moved with drive and real purpose. RDCC MPB (4,1) 1 Ellis, Else Eva Vixendax Make Me A Winner  Lovely ‘houndy’ head for such a young girl. Good furnishings. Lovely length of neck with good shoulders and tight elbows. Strong feet - built for a purpose. Good body with nice length of ribbing. Moved well. 2 Parker, Vixendax You And Me At Zorionadax Very similar comments as 1st - a ‘hard’ pup who is designed for a purpose. Harsh coat with a good shaped body underneath. moved well. 3 Smith & Smith, Salixian Gracious Wings PB (1) 1 Moore, & Downes, Romanchi Night At The Opera Feminine expression on a good head, correct eye and ear set. Nice strong neck with good shoulders Good front for a 9 month pup. Good ribbing with correct rear angulation which gave good movement with a real purpose, super harsh coat. JB (3,1) 1 Phillips, Tendrow Carolina Reaper Super red girl - a very feminine hound who was presented well - super head and neck with everything in the right place which gave a super outline stacked and on the move RBCC 2 Jackson & Jackson, Elderkine’s Bronte Different type to 1 - nice conical head with good neck. Nice shoulders and adequate rib - nice rear angulation giving good movement. YB (1) 1 Seath, Sunsong Hopes And Dreams Good shape of head with correct eye shape and ear placement. Nice front with lovely tight feet , good elbows well fitted to the rib. Correct length of rib and loin. Good angulation which she used well ‘driving’ around the ring. PGB (2) 1 Pughe & Fraser, Bystock Blue Orchid Another nice one from this kennel - soundly constructed. Good shoulders with correct upper arm. Good length of ribbing into correct loin. Well muscled and well angulated giving strong movement with good drive. 2 Matthews, Sonham Twice As Nice JW Feminine soft expression on a good head shaspe. Nice front assembly with good body proportions. Nice rear angulation and she moved well around the ring. LB (4) 1 Moore, Derochaise Black Cherry Cloudside This girl oozes Quality - yes with a capital Q!!. Striking from the moment she entered the ring. Smart black and tan that you cannot take your eyes off. Fabulous shape with everything in the right place and no exageration. Super harsh coat and to top it off she moved like a dream, owning the ring, a pleasure to judge. Proud to award her the BCC (her 3rd I am now told) and BOB 2 McCalmont & McCalmont, Silvae Best Kept Secret Nice head and eye, Good reach of neck. Good layback of shoulder with good ribbing - nice tight elbows. Good angulation at the rear - moved well 3 Moore & Dean, Brontillow Canterbury Bell To Diefiur OB (5) 1 Rowe, Ch Boloria Nice’n Spicy JW A bitch with attitude…full of herself, lovely head with good strong neck. Correct front with good body shape. Moved with drive around the ring. 2 Phillips, Tendrow Turns Over The Page Black and tan - lovely example. Super head and neck - lovely shape with a good coat. Held her topline at all times even though she was slightly unsettled by the noise today which was a shame. 3 Matthews, Wyeknot Come Fly With Me Over Sonham VB (1)1 Rowe, Ch Boloria’s Trick Or Treat JW VW Super bitch with all in the right place. Built well and moved well, no exageration anywhere on the body. Moved with drive around the ring - a credit to her owner. BVIB
