Eastern Counties Dachshund Ass 2006

BEST IN SHOW

My thanks to the committee of the ECDA for inviting me to judge BIS and BPIS at their 2006 Championship show. I especially thank co-judges who sent forward such high quality exhibits for me to choose from. It much have been one of the best lines ups I have seen. My eventual winner was the Miniature Smooth, Daykin’s, Barratini Magic Monet. Handled as always by Anne Dunne. I just love this bitch and had awarded her her first CC only last week. On the day she won her second and I am sure her third must come soon on this form. Her construction is near to perfect and her movement is so sound viewed from both front and rear and also in profile. RBIS was the lovely Standard Wire, Phillips’, Ch Saxonbury Playday at Tendrow. This bitch oozes quality. I love her size and elegance. She has good head on reachy neck, well constructed forehands. Well ribbed body of good length. nicely rounded rear with short hocks which she uses to power around the ring. BPIS Again a high quality line up from which to choose. I selected the Miniature Smooth, Coxon’s, D’Arisca Golden Delicious. I don’t subscribe to the view expressed by some judges that you should share it around between the breeds when doing BIS. I feel I have been invited to put up the dog which in my opinion are the best on the day and the fact that my dogs which in my opinion are the best on the day and the fact that my BIS was a Min Smooth had no bearing on my selection for BPIS. This little red girl is one of hte best I have seen from this clever breeder. She has a lovely head, well constructed body. Moves truly both ways and has a perfect profile both standing and moving. RBPIS was very close between the Standard Longhaired and the Standard Wirehaired. I loved both of them. Eventually I awarded it to the L/H Johnson’s, Brynalyn Bitter at Africandawns. Very nice red bitch. Good head and eye. Pleasing to go over on the table. Moved soundly.
