BEST IN SHOW

Many thanks to the officers and committee of the Midland Dachshund for inviting me to judged BIS at their Championship Show. I would also like to thank Mr Paul Price who kindly transported me to and from the airport. I was looking for a hound who had the intelligent lively characteristics required in the breed standard. Unfortunately the three standards all looked as if they had had enough showing for the day and to me were all much bigger than the standard required. I fell in lovely with the eventual winner, Wood's Ch Jadag Special Edition. B/t Mini Longhaired. He came into the ring with a look at me quizzical expression and just moved with such great drive and extension, holding his topline and carrying himself so proudly. He just caught my eye when he entered the ring and could not be denied the top honours of becoming BIS. My Res BIS was an old favourite of mine, Hutching's, Ch. Molloney Zena Ghost JW Sh CM. A Wire Dachshund in Miniature and definitely not a Miniature Wire Dachshund, there is a big difference you know! Shown in lovely condition with a lovely head and dark eyes. Has a good reach of neck and well placed shoulders. She just did not move as well behind as the Mini Long and so had to settle for Reserve. BPIS was Hefferman's, Wire, Ritterburg La Traviatia of Mamutik. 10 months old and really enjoying herself. Typical Wire expression, lovely size. Good front and reach of neck, carried a good topline on the move. Should do well as she matures. RBPIS was Ergis's, Siouxline Maverick. Mini Smooth. Clear red dog of 8 months. Lovely head and expression. Good reach of neck, well placed shoulders and ribs carried well back. Looks like Dachshund in miniature, not in any way toyish, one to watch out for in the future. Just beginning to flag at the end of the day.
