Southern Dachshund  2010

BEST IN SHOW

It was an honour and my pleasure to judge at this very nice venue where there was a truly excellent line-up for BIS. There were two contestants to which I had awarded BOB in recent times, and to me, they still stood out, so the top spot went to the Smooth, Ellis' Tealby Taken As Read, a Champion on the day. I gave her BOB at Crufts and said when she reached maturity would be even better. Her correct shoulder and super upper arm angle, excellent ribbing and underline, correct quarters and second thigh, pleasing head planes and proportions, super neck and topline carried the day. Not an extrovert but steady and reliable to handle. Stood four square. RBIS was Daykin's Barratini Jilly Cooper. B/tan m/smooth, another I gave top honours to and also a Champion on the day at only 19 months, and an absolute cracker. Lovely head and eye, with correct length ears, excellent neck, shoulder and forehand, ribbing well back, good underline, nice turn of quarters, correct tail set and carriage, lovely close fitting coat, well covered body does not want more weight, pleasing temperament, excellent eye catching profile in stance. Also very close up was the red m/long with a beautiful head and elegantly fringed ears, so lacking in many. BPIS was Rawson's b/tan smooth, Rosenket Opal Essence, lovely proportioned head, good reach of neck, prominent front for age, level topline, good ribbing, nice turn of quarters, good outline in stance, kept on the move, most promising. Res BPIS, Lockett Walters red m/long, Ralines Summer Storm. Sweet head, pleasing forehand, enough coat for age, level top, moved out well. BVIS was the wire, Rollinson's Ch & Ir Ch Nosinllor Grenadier ShCM. Dominating a very nice line up, starting with his noble head proportions, dark eye and susper furnishings, very correct forehand, ribs well back, level top, correct underline, in hard body condition, covered with a short harsh coat, nicely angulated hindquarters, very good side gait with reach and drive, a very nice wire indeed.
