Wirehaired Dachshund Club 2010

BEST IN SHOW

It was an honour to be asked to judge Best in Show at this prestigious show. My thanks to the hard working committee for making my task that much easier. I was presented with the best standard wire haired and the best miniature wire haired of the day and the quality was excellent. Standard Wire, Bates & Maes-Jones'Ch Derochaise Black Orchid a bitch I have previously judged and have watched its progress for sometime, good coat of harsh texture good bone strong head, with a very dark eye, good length of neck and well developed shoulders level top line strong rear quarters, well balanced, moved with purpose and drive looked as if she could move all day long. BIS. Miniature Wire Russell's Russteck Fillibeg JW. Good harsh coat, prominent keel nice head on strong shoulders level top line good quarters but movement was not as positive as the standard. Res BIS. Best Puppy. Standard Wire, Pughe & Frasers Bystock Black Truffle, a brindle bitch that has great presence for one so young well behaved and stood like a statue. Good coat good bone. Strong quarters gave her a very positive stride pattern BPIS. Miniature Wire, Lewis'Trixhund Country Lover. Nice type good harsh coat good fore-chest strong top line movement was steady however she played up her owner as she would fidget continuously in the final preparation, she has a very promising future. Res BPIS. Best Veteran: Miniature Wire, Dances' Dacatec Mindyapeasncues Emem What a lovely lively subject ten and a half years young and very active, has not lost her shape and could still compete well with her younger colleagues, good coat, a picture standing and her movement was better than excellent!! Pleased to award her Best Veteran in Show. Standard Wire McCalmonts' CH. Silvae Pickwick a well known champion who at eleven and a half years young has not lost his shape or any of his attributes. He just decided to take a leisurely stroll today and put minimum effort into his movement. A truly wonderful appointment in which I thoroughly enjoyed especially with the wire fraternity.
