Miniature Dachshund Club 2011

BEST IN SHOW

A wonderful opportunity to judge the three beautiful varieties of the Miniature Dachshund. On this day the lovely red Smooth bitch, Callow's Ch. Garthorne Gazania, won the top award, Best in Show, on her lovely outline and proportions, coupled with her true breed type. In excellent body and recently off a litter of puppies, no one could say that she has had her food limited in order to make the weight ! Wonderful free and purposeful mover. Reserve to her was Thorn-Andrews' Drakesleat Sally Forf, a yearling Min Wire bitch. She has a delightful head and expression, excellent proportions and size, and again a free active mover. Best Puppy in show was another Min. smooth, Coxon's D'Arisca Duplicated, this a rich B/T dog. Like the BIS winner, a proper little Dachshund and shown in excellent body. Very much a male in outlook, with a quality look about him. Another particularly free and active mover. He will no doubt have a very bright future! Reserve to him was Lockett-Walters & Walters' Ralines Summer Storm, a Min. Long bitch with a lovely head and expression, typical in outline, not short on coat. I was also most taken with the Best Veteran in Show, the Min. Smooth seven year old b/t Barber's Ch. Melriding Meruisti. He is a beautiful little Dachshund and looks so well as a veteran. Lovely in proportions and outline, lovely head with a wise expression and a free enthusiastic mover.
