Dachshund Club 2012
Judge: Judy Squires
BEST IN SHOW
It was an honour to be invited to judge BIS at
the Dachshund Club Championship Show held at the KC Building,
Stoneleigh and I thank the officers and committee for their
hospitality. The judges sent through some quality dachshunds for the
top awards making my job enjoyable but quite difficult. BIS was Abydachs
Summer Wine. An elegant Longhaired bitch beautifully presented with
correct gleaming coat. Feminine head, good front assembly and length of
neck flowing into correctly placed shoulders. Well angulated at the
rear enabling her to move out soundly and freely with plenty of drive.
She looked a picture standing freely and moving, keeping her lovely
outline at all times. Should gain her crown in the near future. I
closely considered the well constructed Miniature Smooth. Ch. Sonderbar
Billie Jean At Stargang for RBIS but she was in softer condition than I
have seen her before so my final decision for RBIS went to Barmaud
Rufus a Wire, sired by the well known Ch/Multi Ch Lieblings Stormin
Norman, although a little larger than I prefer he couldn't be denied
his position today. Strong, masculine head, correct layback of
shoulder, good forechest and rear angulation. Well muscled body and a
sound confident mover with a tail that didn't stop wagging from side to
side (not up in the air) so didn't lose his topline. He had a happy
outgoing temperament and was enjoying himself in the big ring. BP,
Carpaccio Cognac Diamond, a lovely well boned and balanced 7 mth old.
Smooth of good construction all through. Very mature for her age and
looks very finished. So well presented and handled to get the best from
her. Another standard with a good reach of neck, shoulders and topline
and underline with correct angles fore and aft. Moved very freely and
with drive for one so young. Very promising puppy. Again a close
decision between the well constructed Miniature Wire puppy Drakesleat
May Contain Nuts and the Long, Bonavoir Isabella, but on the day I just
preferred the rear driving movement of the Long for RP. A well muscled
and coated 9 mth bitch with overall sound construction and balance.
Well presented with good topline and underline. Correct front assembly
and shoulders and looked good standing and moving. Lots of potential.
Veteran, the Miniature Wire was missing. The majority were "young"
veterans and could have held their own still in an Open Class but the
7yr old Miniature Smooth, Deercroft Devotion, stood out in this line-up
of appealing exhibits. A happy, confident Mini who was thoroughly
enjoying herself and moved out well with her owner. She was lovely to
go over, everything in the right place with no exaggeration, a very
workmanlike individual with a well covered body and shown in lovely
condition.
