BEST IN SHOW
I was delighted to have been invited to judge Best in Show at this well run friendly show. Unfortunately the weather was not conducive to long distance travel but those that did make it are to be congratulated. The line up presented to me for BIS was of high quality. I chose the Wire Haired, McCalmonts Ch Silvae Zealot for top honour. As usual, from this kennel, he was in immaculate coat and condition. Up to size, all male, with a masculine head true 'Wire' expression, good length of neck. Balanced angulation fore and aft, well ribbed back kept a level topline and moved with drive. Res BIS and therefore BPIS show was the Red Miniature Smooth, Williams Cwmdarhian Cara Mia, who put up a good show for one so young. Well boned but still feminine, conical head with a dark eye, lengthy neck running into well placed shoulders correct length of ribbing well angulated hindquarters, very precise movement, well handled. Should have a bright future. Res BPIS went to a pretty clear Red Smooth bitch, Jones' Adnerbs Betty Boop. Feminine head, correct almond eye, presented a good profile stacked which was kept on the move. Very sound moving. In top class condition. Best Veteran in Show went to the Red Longhaired Dachshund McNaughtons Ch Cedavoch Bewitched. In full coat, she looked a picture on the move. Kept her shape at all times.
