Northern Counties Dachshund Club 2013
Judge: Jean Blandford
Best in Show
I
was delighted to be asked to judge Best in Show at what has always been
one of my favourite Dachshund clubs. First coming to their shows in the
nineteen fifties when they were held in Harrogate handling my mothers
Dachshunds. I was delighted to find the welcoming atmosphere was still
there. Spoilt for choice for BIS with a lovely line up, however the
wire, Lewis Crooks Barmaud Rufus [irl.imp] completely captivated me
when he strode into the ring. I was delighted when I went over him on
the table. Masculine head on strong neck going into well laid
shoulders. Strong topline and powerful quarters. To top it all a crisp
wire coat. However pushing him hard was one of the nicest miniature
smooth I have seen for some years Blackburns Ch Sonderbar Billiejean at
Stargang (imp). Sweet head, excellent shoulder, nice legs and feet. True
mover and keeping her lovely lines at all times. When it came to judge
best puppy most seemed tired and a little edgy at the end of a long
day. On the first run round the Min wire Thorn Andrews Drakesleat Fifty
Scents caught my with his powerful ground covering movement. Excellent
front, top and underline and I felt he scored with his strong quarters
and length of stride. Res was the beautiful long Mitchells Bronia Mr
Pepys. Exquisite head with lovely eyes and ears. Strong top and
underline. True coming and going. Shown in fabulous coat and condition.
