I would like to thank the officers and committee for giving me the opportunity to judge BIS at the Southern Dachshund
Association Championship Show on 17 January 2015. I thoroughly enjoyed my day especially as the judges sent through
quality dogs from both the CC and Non-CC classes. What a shame that all varieties do not have CC status here as
dachshunds are very short of tickets in the south and east. The very good line-up made my job interesting but
difficult as I was splitting hairs on some decisions as most of them, in my opinion, could take top spot another time. The BIS line-up consisted of the Smooth Sontag Shanda Leah, Long Swansford Nigelladora Darsoms, Wire Jethard Just Jive,
Min-smooth Grandables Crafty Lil Devil at Royalmaple, Min-long Ralines One Of Those and the Min-wire
Ch Ridanflight Ricardo. For BIS I selected the Long Swansford Nigelladora Darsoms a young, feminine bitch in gleaming
coat and condition who didn't put a foot wrong today and moved out soundly and with elegance with her handler.
Although just over a year she showed herself like an experienced show-girl but had the freshness and bloom of youth on
her side. Feminine head and eye, good reach of neck which flowed into correct shoulders. Well rounded quarters, correctly
angulated front and rear so moved out with drive and purpose keeping her topline at all times.
RBIS was the eye-catching and well balanced Min-long dog Ralines One Of Those who I was told was made up on the day.
Under that lovely coat was a well covered and constructed body of correct proportions and size. A well boned and sound
junior dog who looks very finished and mature for his age. He was a confident and bold mover holding his topline at all
times and was well presented and handled to get the best out of him. The well muscled Min-wire was a very close
contender but I just preferred the overall outline of the Min-long on the move.
Those in contention for BPIS were the Smooth Matzell Magnus, Long Abydachs Giving Off Sparks, Wire Boloria's Forever
Foolish, Min-smooth Carpaccio Casablanca, Min-long Mystera Once Upon A Dream at Garbosa and the Min-wire Fallowmill
Carolina. I awarded BPIS to the mature and well schooled 6 month Min-smooth Carpaccio Casablanca who really moved
out well for a youngster. He was good to go over, nothing overdone, a well covered, correctly sized and proportioned
body in lovely condition. Good head and reach of neck, correctly placed shoulders and firm topline standing and moving.
A Standard in Miniature. He should have a promising future. Followed closely for RBPIS was the elegant Min-long
bitch Mystera Once Upon A Dream at Garbosa a 9 month bitch who had everything in the right place. Well covered
body, good front and rear angulation and a lovely outline both standing and on the move. Two promising puppies
but I just preferred Casablanca's length of neck and he also put that extra sparkle into his showing today.
There were just two 8 year old veterans (both Champions) to consider for BVIS the harsh coated Wire Ch
Nosinllor Joan of Arc who looked great for her age and was thoroughly enjoying her day as her tail was constantly
wagging and the Long Ch Swansford Burbury Dora. For BVIS it had to be the correctly sized and elegant Long who
I have awarded top honours before in Veteran. In my mind, this bitch could still hold her own in an Open Class let
alone Veteran. Lovely head and eye, elegant neck, correct shoulders and a great outline stacked and on the move.
She covered the ring effortlessly keeping a good topline and outline. Her breeder must be proud of her and also
pleased to have bred the BIS today. Very rewarding.
