I was honoured to once again judge the Smooth Haired Dachshund Club Championship Show on this their 20th anniversary. The invitation came from the club for me to replace the advertised  judge Mrs Christine Russell who had sadly lost her husband a few days prior to the show. I send her my deepest sympathies.

Chauhan’s Ch Adnerbs Take a Chance on Me at Raajput  A Black and Tan Smooth bitch who epitomised the breed standard perfectly. As a result her movement from all angles was perfect. Her rapport with her handler was a pleasure to watch and thank you to the breed judge Mr Adam Rowell for sending such an outstanding example for me to award best in show to.

Reserve best in show was Andison and Peel’s Ch Clentry Donnie Darco. Black and Tan  miniature smooth. Again very sound movement. Rather upright in shoulder which affected his shape in profile. In sparkling condition and well handled.

Best puppy in show was Callow’s  Brindle miniature smooth Garthorne Glenda. Outstanding for type, shape and correct size. Her movement coming and going and in profile is a credit to her correct construction. Congratulations to her clever breeder.

Reserve Best Puppy in Show Red Smooth dog, Moes and Williams’ Cwmdarhian Super Mario. A substantial male of excellent type. Moved out well and cooperated with his handler. A little narrow in front which will I believe will improve with maturity.
