CITY OF BIRMINGHAM 2002 Dachshund (Miniature Smooth Haired) Judge: Mr M Sanders

Thank you for your support, only two absentees out of those who entered. I found this entry somewhat challenging for two main reasons, firstly heads, such a varying degree of type from round skulls, short fore faces and large bulging eyes - to narrow skulls and long weak fore faces and no under jaw. Secondly, rear ends, what about then I hear you say, well straight stifles, long hocks a combination of these two only result in cow hocks, there was little evidence here of rear drive, only in a few exceptions did it appear. What are you going to do to correct these reoccurring faults I really don’t know! If this entry is a true representation of your breed then you are in a dilemma!
JD (3). 1 Mitchell’s Bronia L’Infinito. Red of obvious quality throughout, scores in the head, neck and front, excellent top line, well bent stifles with short hocks, very good underline, correct tail set, good bone with neat feet, on the move he had style, such an eye catching outline, holds himself together really well, good up front, ok behind with just a bit more maturity the picture will be complete, pleased to award him the CC and later on BOB, hope his third is not too far away; 2 Stokes’s Webber Paddy. Another fair exhibit, good head, well filled front, very good bone, kept his top line on the move, presented in first class order, moved ok; 3 Yeoman’s Klynerbyner Noblesse Oblige.
PGD (2). 1 Shutt’s Donnadoon Distant Dreams. This d won this class on his head qualities, good top line and fair quarters; 2 Bassant’s Shardagang Johnny Walker at Crancott.
LD (4). 1 Lashbrook’s Milfer Jack The Lad. Good outline on this chap, good head and neck, well ribbed, excellent top line, good stifles with short hocks, well filled front, stood on good legs with neat feet, easily the best mover in this class, well presented and handled, deserved his RCC; 2 Holt and Evan’s Toleva Trojan Prince. A fair d overall, good top line could not match the movement of the winner; 3 Rishworth’s Flarepath Red Baron.
OD (3). 1 Hartley’s Ir Ch Lyrosh Don Perinon JW. Lovely headed d, good front, neat bone and feet, well ribbed, kept his top line, moved ok; 2 Scott’s Bevrons General Monck; 3 Yeoman’s Klynerbyner Noblesse Oblige.
VB (1). 1 Hartley’s Ir Ch Lyrosh Princess Philodora. Still retains a good outline, well filled front, level top line, excellent ribbing, moving well both ways, enjoying her day out.
PB (6). 1 Widdop’s Jondac Golden Dream. Only 6 mths but shows lots of promise, correct in head, good eye, neck and shoulders, well ribbed, good top line and quarters, moving well for one so young, should do well, BPIB; 2 Forrest’s Bute’s Red Chakra. Close up to winner, very much the same type, similar remarks apply, should do well; 3 Shutt’s Rhinestar Desire of Donnadoon.
JB (7). 1 Metcalfe’s Bronia Saucy Sara at Metadale. Headed a good class, quality b throughout, head ok, super front, excellent ribbing, very good top line and tail set, probably the best quarters here today which she really did use to advantage, driving well from the rear with good reach up front, presented in first class order, already has a CC under her belt and I’m sure will gain her crown, had to settle for the RCC today losing out to maturity; 2 Mitchell’s Bronia Luciana. Classy girl indeed, lovely outline, quality throughout, put down in excellent bloom, will have her day I’m sure; 3 Blackburn-Bennett’s Shardagang Mempats Belle. Completing a trio of lovely bitches.
PGB (6). I apologise to the placed owners with their exhibits in this class, but truthfully my notes on this class have simply vanished. 1 Callow’s Garthorne Highlight; 2 Melbourne’s Melriding Appanatox; 3 Sheppard’s Thystine Margos Meridian.
LB (6). 1 Hunt’s Carpaccio Travelling Light. A quality b indeed, feminine in head with good neck leading to a good angulated shoulder, excellent well filled fore chest, well ribbed wit good underline, kept level top line on the move, presented in excellent condition and sympathetically handled, felt she could have gone with bit more verve, should make it to the top; 2 Bursey’s Berrycourt Dancing Queen at Hartlake. An honest type, well balanced, fair head, well ribbed, good top line, well filled front, moving ok; 3 Lewis’s Shardagang Santa Lucia of Bardachs.
OB (4). 1
Callow’s Ch Garthorne Leading Lady. A true dachshund in miniature, top class
quality throughout, super head of the correct conical shape, excellent eye, good
neck leading to good layback of shoulder, excellent fore chest, well ribbed,
good underline and top line, very good bend of stifles leading to parallel
hocks, she stands on good legs and feet, she has a stunning outline on the move
to put all in, presented in good bloom, she was my leading lady today CC close
up for BOB just touched off by the youthful arrogance of L’Infinito; 2
Armstrong’s Shardagang Amarulla. Quality girl, feminine in head, good neck, well
ribbed, correct top line and tail set, unlucky to run into Lady today, but will
have her day; 3 Voaden’s Berrycourt Alicia.
