Dachshund Club 2002
Judge: Mr Daniel Roberts
Miniature Smooth
There are one or two things we should pay attention to, one is feet, there is certainly room for improvement in this department, too many lack that lovely cat foot, also ribbing needs watching, several exhibits failed in this department. Top lines in general I think have improved, not so many dippy backs, the general condition of the dogs was gd, no walking skeletons!
MPD (3) 1 Miller’s Palsuz Storm Form. B/T. Nice little d with a lot to like about him, he has a good reach of neck, topline and ribbing. Moved well; 2 Spencer’s Chelridge Picolomini. B/T. Not quite the reach of neck of the winner but kept a good topline on the move, nice ribbing, moved a little close behind going away, needs to settle down to his job; 3 Rees’ Nordach Ticket To Ride.
PD (5) 1 McAlister’s Lochfyne Rakino. S/R what a super boy, good prominent forechest, good lay back of shoulder and angulated upper arm which enabled him to still show a good forechest when on the move, good ribbing and plenty of drive from the rear, covered the ground well. BPIB; 2 Luke’s Corrieknow Christopher. B/T. Moved and showed v well, similar to the winner but the first had a bit more neck and forechest; 3 Rees’ Nordach Ticket To Ride.
JD (6) 1 Mitchell’s Bronia L’Infinito. Red d, super lines on him, everything in the right place, quite stunning. Moved and showed well. RCC; 2 Stokes’ Webbers Paddy. B/T. Good reach of neck, kept his topline on the move, well laid shoulder, good ribbing; 3 Coxon’s D’Arisca Cut A Dash.
GD (3) 1 Forster’s Geffle’s Dark-N-Sharp. S/R. An elegant d with good reach of neck and level topline on the move, good ribbing, moved well, he shows better on the ground than on the table; 2 Blackburn’s Shardgang Chinook. Quite a nice little d, moved and showed well, not the elegance of the winner and not quite the length of ribbing; 3 Bassant’s Shardagang Johnny Walker At Crancott.
PGD (4) 1 Luke’s Corrieknowe Circassian. B/T. Quite nice lines on him but would have liked more length of ribbing and more forechest; 2 Sharkey’s Nordach Oberon At Hyshope. B/T. Would have liked a tighter shoulder, tended to sink into the ground when standing which shortened his neck and made him look stuffy; 3 Jones’ Radclyffe Kite.
LD (8) 1 Lashbrook’s Milfer Jack The Lad. S/R d. Showed better on the ground than on the table, his general overall conformation is good nicely balanced, he moved quite well but would like tighter feet, maybe more road work?; 2 Long’s Radclyffe Kea At Tydyrcwrt. S/R. Quite a nice little chap, good topline on the move, good reach of neck but he did not seem very happy showing, he would fidget about so did not make the most of himself; 3 Holt and Evans’ Toleva Trojan Prince.
OD (6) 1 Mendes’ Ch Scharmein Rajah. B/T. It has taken this d quite a while to get his act together but it is a good lesson to us all, have patience, if you know he has what it takes but just can’t get it together straight away, then wait and have faith in your dog, for this owner it has paid off, he is now a dog with so much going for him, all dog, very masculine, plenty of substance, good head, neck and topline, good spring of rib and good length to the ribbing good shoulder, when he moved he covers the ground well, with good strong hind action, he has a good reach in front and you can still see his forechest when moving, it gave me great pleasure to give him the CC and BOB; 2 Coxon’s Ch D’Arisca In Confidence. B/T. A v well known d, quite different in type to the winner, v elegant smart mover but did not cover the ground as well as 1 and tends to lose his front when on the move, he has a good reach of neck and kept his topline on the move; 3 Scott’s Bevrons General Monck.
MPB (9) 1 Widdop’s Jondac Golden dream. V pretty red b, well naked, kept a good topline on the move, good front with nice layback of shoulder, still carrying a bit of puppy fat but she carried it off well and strode round the ring looking the part; 2 Coxon’s D’Arisca Gossamer Wings. S/R. Another nice little b but different type, lighter built, v elegant, good reach of neck, good head carriage, kept her topline on the move, preferred the front construction of 1; 3 Paterson’s Jazrin De Jardin.
PB (10) 1 Blackburn’s Stockcroft Kea Of Stargant. S/R b with lots of potential, good reach of neck, kept her topline on the move, good front and lay back of shoulder. Moved with drive from the rear, covered the ground well. BPB; 2 Spencer’s Chelridge Apple Brown Betty. Just a little bit taller than the winner but she moved well and kept a good topline going round the ring, well angulated both ends, just needs to settle to her showing; 3 McAlister’s Lochfyne Sweet Breeze.
JB (9) 1 Blackburn-Bennet’s Shardagang Memphis Belle. C/R. What a glamorous girl she is, lovely head carriage reach of neck, good lay back of shoulder, good ribbing, she has the lot. CC she only just missed out today to the dog for BOB on movement, he covered a little bit more ground, it was a close thing; 2 Jones’ Radclyffe Lullula. S/R of good type, not quite the glamour of the winner, she has a good topline on the move and well angulated both ends. Moved well; 3 Mitchell’s Bronia Luciana.
GB (8) 1 Blackburn-Bennett’s Shardagang Pavlova. S/R b. V pretty, moved v well and kept a good topline when moving, had a nice front to her, well angulated both ends but would have liked a bit more length to the ribbing, though ribbing was well sprung; 2 Hartley’s Lyrosh Special Edition. C/R. Heavier built than the winner, not quite as elegant but moved well, would like a tighter shoulder; 3 Melbourne’s Miss Mercedes Of Melriding. PGB (7) 1 Blackburn Bennett’s Shardagang Tiramisu. B/T. V nice clean lines on this b. Good reach of neck and good topline. Moved well; 2 Melbourn’s Melriding Appamatox. This b and the winner were v much alike in type, although in no way related. I thought the winner had the slight edge today, I am sure they will swap places on another day; 3 Sharkey’s Hyshope Maddonna.
LB (15) 1 Plant’s Sanmiks Newz Around Merehill. B/T. Super little b, moved with plenty of style, good head carriage, nice length of neck, good topline and ribbing, good shoulders, one to watch out for. RCC; 2 Hayman-Jeeves’ Rhodecot Hawaiian Sunset. C/R. V sound little b. Moved well round the ring, has a good topline a good spring of rib but I would like a darker eye; 3 Widdop’s Jondac Royal Splendour.
OB (9) 1 Voaden’s Berrycourt Alicia. B/T. A b I have admired from afar in the past, she has nice flowing lines, good reach of neck, good shoulders and topline, good ribbing and sweep of keel, but what went wrong in the challenge! I don’t know, except when asked to move for the final assessment she just flagged and stopped showing, it was such a disappointment but competition is strong in the b classes, I can only think the heat had got to her; 2 Armstrong’s Shardagang Amarula. Beautiful C/R. So much to like about her, moved round the ring v well, she has a good reach of neck and good ribbing, her topline she kept on the move, quite a glamour girl; 3 Callow’s Ch Garthorne Leading Lady.
VB (1) 1 Yeomans’
Irish Twirl Of Klynerbyner. Ch/T Stood alone but deserved her 1st place, she
kept a good topline on the move and moved with animation at 8 yrs old, she could
still keep up with the youngsters, must add that she still had a good set of
teeth and made short work of her sausage!
