HOUNDSHOW 2002 Dachshund (Miniature Smooth Haired) Judge: Mr Jason Hunt
|
It was a great honour to be asked to judge at this super show. Thank you for a wonderful entry, I really enjoyed my day but there are a few points I would like to make. Firstly a thing I have not experienced in our delightful breed was bad mouths. Poor pigmentation, nose and nails, the breed standard does state black with the exception of chocolates. Hind action needs some attention many exhibitors could not move out well, some exhibits lost out because of this. On the plus side all the exhibits were clean and only the odd had dirty teeth.
PD. (7). 1. McAlister’s, Lochfyne Rakino. Red of pleasing type. Masculine head, well arched neck. Correct front assembly. Kept a good outline at all times. Moved out well. 2. Luke’s, Corrieknowe Christopher. Black and tan different type to first. Very apprehensive. Pleasing head and neck. Moved out well. 3. Spencer’s, Chelridge Piccolomini.
JD. (5). 1. Mitchell’s, Bronia L’Infinito. Easy winner in this class - red built on classic lines. Masculine head without coarseness, well arched neck. Correct front and shoulders. Well sprung ribs. Kept outline at all times. Well handled to get the best out of him. Pleased to award him the RCC. He should have a great future. 2. Punter’s, Welcumen Whisky. Black and tan of pleasing type, but for me he was too narrow all through. Moved out well keeping a good outline. 3. Coxon’s, D’Aisca Cut a Dash.
SpBEG D. (2). 1. Yeomans’, Klynerbyner Noblesse Oblige. Black and tan who was very lethargic on the move.
PGD. (9). 1. Barber’s, Rivergate Gallanthus. Smart compact black and tan scores well in all departments. Keeps his topline at all times. For me I would like more drive on the move. 2. Parish’s, Artdach Motivation. Black and tan similar type to first, but for me I would like more angulated hindquarters, moved out well. 3. Luke’s, Corrieknowe Circassian.
LD. (9). 1. Lashbrook’s, Milfer Jack the Lad. Red an easy winner in this class. Pleasing head, neck and shoulders. Lovely front, well ribbed. Moved with drive keeping his outline at all times. For me I would like to see him carrying a little less weight considered for the RCC. 2. Holt and Evans’, D Toleva Trojan Prince. Black and tan of different type to first. Very apprehensive, nice head and front. For me I would like a little more weight over the loins. Did not move out as well as first. 3. Long’s, Radclyffe Kea of Tydurcwrt.
OD. (6). 1. Coxon’s, Ch. D’Arisca in Confidence. Star of the day. Black and tan, everything I was looking for. Classic head with a nice eye, correct well filled front. Well arched, well placed shoulders. Excellent length of rib. Excellent topline, which he kept at all times. Well angulated hindquarters, which gave him thrust on the move. Moved with great style. Pleased to award him CC and BOB and later awarded G3, congratulations. 2. Jones’s, Radclyffe Garralus. VHC in Limit, moved out well. 3. Nolan’s, Hampdach Solowist at Eddyval.
VD/B. (1). 1. Yoeman’s, Irish Twirl of Klynerbryner. Chocolate and tan of 8 years. Pleasing head and neck. Moved out ok. Enjoying her day out.
MPB. (6). A class of promising puppies. 1. Coxon’s, D’Arisca on Gossamer Wings. Shaded red. Sweet head and expression. Lovely oval front, pleasing outline on the move. Should have a promising future. 2. Spencer’s, Chelridge Pyxis. Black and tan. Another I really liked. Less mature than first but has everything in the right places. Moved and showed well. I think this is the best I have seen from this small kennel. 3. Munt’s, Pipersvale Stella Artois.
PB. (7). 1. McAlister’s, Lochfyne Sweet Breeze. Red litter sister to puppy dog winner. Pretty head and expression. Well arched neck. Good front and shoulders. Moved out well. Pleased to award her BP. 2. Forster’s, Gefle’s, Prima Donna. Black and tan of a very different type. Long low and level. Sweetest head and expression. Moved and showed well, but for me I would like her a touch bigger. 3. Blackburn’s, Stockcroft Kea of Stargang.
JB. (11). A class of quality bitches who I am sure will all change places on another day. 1. Metcalfe’s, Bronia Saucy Sara at Metadale. Red who caught my eye as she entered the ring. Pretty bitch who is full of it. Correct head and neck, well filled front. Well placed shoulder. Lovely spring of rib, classic outline which she kept at all times. Well angulated hindquarters, moved with verve. Pleased to award her the CC, congratulations. 2. Coxon’s, Bedu Love Me Do. Red, another I really liked. Sweet head and expression. Kept her outline at all times. Moved out really well. 3. Seath’s, Sunsong Love in a Mist.
SpBEGIN B. (3). 1. Seagrave’s, Donnadoon Heidi. Pretty black and tan that scores well in all departments, moved ok. 2. Cooke’s, Scalamor Tango Tiger Lily. Red very lethargic on the move, so made it difficult to assess her. 3. Gorman’s, Shardagang Morning Star at Shelsall.
PGB. (18). 1. Callow’s, Garthorne Highlight. Smaller type shaded red. Sweet head and expression, scores well in all departments. Well angulated hindquarters, moved with style. Well handled to get the best out of her. For me I would like her a little bigger. 2. Ergis’s, Siouxline Isabella JW. Black and tan of larger type. Correct head and front. Well sprung ribs. For me I would like to see her carrying less weight over her shoulders to finish the picture. Moved out well. 3. Melbourne’s, Miss Nercedes of Melriding.
LB. (13). 1. Armstrong’s, Shardagang Amarulla. Lovely clear red who has the pretty head with the sweetest of expressions. Nice well filled front, lovely length of rib. Super quarters. Moved out well. Understand this is her first outing since maternal duties. Considered her in the challenge. 2. Robinson’s, D’Arisca in Bloom at Inkel. Blkack and tan of a different type to first. Have admired her from the ringside, did not disappoint on handling her. Scores well in all departments, but on the day did not move with much drive. 3. Widdop’s, Jondac Royal Splendour.
OB. (8). A difficult class to judge as they were all of
different types with many known Ch’s who I am sure will al change places on
another day. 1. White’s, Ch. Artdach Temptation. Pretty black and tan I have
judged before. Has matured nicely, good head, neck and front. Well ribbed,
correct hindquarters. Moved with style RCC. 2. Melbourne’s, Melriding Respice.
Another black and tan again different type to first. Lovely well filled oval
front. Correct placed shoulder. Nice head and expression. Well handled to get
the best out of her. 3. Ergis’, Ch. Siouxline Angelina.
