SOUTHERN COUNTIES 2003 Dachshund (Miniature Smooth Haired) Judge: Mrs J Voaden
|
It was a great pleasure to judge at such a nice venue on such a glorious day weather wise. The besetting fault at the moment would appear to be very short ribbing - allied to a tendency to fly up under the loin. This spoils the picture. Some shoulders were incorrect with attendant elbow problems. Most importantly temperaments were very good.
PD. (5). 1. Coxon’s, D’Arisca Super Natural. 2. Blackburns’, Bardachs Santa Cruz to Stargang. Both b/t’s soundly made. Similar in type, sound movers. Little seperates at the moment, but I though the winner a little more mature. 3. Mendes’, Scharmein Khan.
JD. (2). 1. Spencer’s, Chelridge Piccolomini. Red fair head, acceptable front. Level topline. Moved a little close front and back.
PGD. (2). 1. Punter’s, Welcum Whisky. B/t, reasonable head. Good neck. Little narrow in front. Level topline and nice length. Moved wide behind. 2. Basey’s, Hovelt Pooh Bear. Shaded red. Solidly made but rather cut up in underline. Movement not quite good enough. Showed well for handler.
LD. (4). 1. Scott’s, Bevrons General Monck. B/t, fair head and neck. Nice lay of shoulder and depth through front. Well bodied, strong mover with particualrly good hind movement. Showed well. RCC. 2. Punter’s, Clipperdown Basil Welcumen. Nice head and neck. Rather narrow front affecting movement. Good length of body. 3. Lashbrooks’, Milfer Jack the Lad.
OD. (3). 1. Coxon’s, Ch. D’Arisca in Confidence. B/t, easily the best dog here on the day. As you would expect has most of the things required to be the big winner that he is, so I do not need to list them. Showed himself off to perfection, both standing and moving and kept a lovely outline at all times. Pleased to award him the CC. 2. Mendes’, Ch. Scharmioen Rajah. B/t. Strong head. Sturdier type with good bone. For me his movement is a little exaggerated and this spoils the picture on the move. 3. Basey’s, Hovelt Pooh Bear.
PB. (13). 1. Lewis’s, Bardachs Santana. B/t. Very promising. Correct head and eye. Excellent placement and lay of shoulder. Long ribcage and level topline. Elegant sound mover on good feet. Real show girl. BP. 2. Young’s, Willowheath Wanda. B/t. Similar type and most of the above points apply. But did not quite have the elegance and assurance of the winner. 3. Grearson’s, Valleydachs Fleur De Lys.
JB. (4). 1. Burke and Manstons’, Bonavior Masterpeice. Sound fronted and nicely made. Mature for a 10 month old puppy. Moved well. 2. Hunt’s, Carpaccio Shopaholic. B/t. Similar type to winner but lighter in bone and not as well bodied. Movement needs to steady. 3. Spencer’s, Chelridge Apple Brown Betty.
PGB. (8). 1. Young’s, Youngline Royal Ruby. Red. Lovely head and neck. Good front, level topline. Moved well. Have seen her throw her chances away. On the day never put a foot wrong. 2. Gorster’s, Geffles Prima Donna. B/t. Solidly made and low to ground. Winner scored in head and was marginally better in front. Moved well. 3. Mendes’s, Scharmein Cassia.
LB. (4). 1. Mitchell’s, Bronia Luciana. Nice type b/t. Soundly made all through. Nice width of front where so many failed. Plenty of bone and substance. Showed amd moved well. RCC. 2. Callow’s, Garthorne Highlight. Red. Nice type, again most remarks apply but winner scored in keel and ribbing. 3. Lewis’s, Shardagang Santa Lucia of Bardachs.
OB. (5). 1.
Callow’s, Ch. Garthorne Leading Lady. B/t of quality. Soundly made with good
length of ribbing. Well bodied. Kept a good outline standing and moving which
she did with great style. Very pleased to award CC and BOB. Many congratulation
on winning the Hound Group. 2. Coxon’s, D’Arisca Germandachs Sweet and Low. B/t.
Fair head, neck and shoulder. Level topline but failed in hindquarters which
affected hind movement. 3. Blackburn’s, Bennets Shardagang Pavlova.
