WKC 2003 Dachshund (Miniature Smooth Haired) Judge: Mrs V Phillips
|
It was once more a pleasure to be judging for the WKC in the beautiful Welsh hills and with the great hospitality of this Society.. I found some very pleasing exhibits amongst my winners and especially in the bitches.. It is always a problem with miniature Dachshunds to keep the good males under the weight and still looking good, but I was delighted with my winners on the day.
MPD (2) 1 Jones’ Radclyffe Melanocorypha. Shaded red. Nice dog puppy, he has good head and eye. Good front and shoulders plenty of keel, tight in elbow, good strong hindquarters moved well. Best dog puppy. 2. Calllow’s Maydays Mr. Max of Garthorne. Another nice youngster, good front and tight in elbow, pleasing head. Rather close behind and not the topline or hindquarters of my winner here.
PD (4) 1 Coxon’s D’Arisca Dennison. 3 Black and tan, pleasing youngsters, The winner had a lovely head and eye. Very good front and feet, tight in front, best ribbing of the 3 and well let down. super condition the best topline in the class on the move. 2. Blackburn Bennett’s Shardagang Tornado, this dog dips a bit on topline and is too low to ground for me. He has a good head and skull, little round in eye. good shoulders, feet and front. 3. Jones’ Radclyffe Milvus.
JD (3) 1 Coxon’s D’Arisca Super Natural, another promising youngster from this kennel, lovely black and tan in super condition. Very beautiful head. Good long neck, very good ribbing, back end could be a bit stronger. 2. Rees’ Shardagang Black Kite at Nordach. Nice shape to head . eyes a bit round., good keel, little low to ground in front, slightly shorter upper arm and not as tight in elbow. Very good ribbing. Topline good.
PGD (3) 1 Spencer’s Chelridge Piccolomini. Black and tan of lovely size and shape, turns his feet a bit. . Pleasing head and eye, good neck. Could have more keel. Good ribcage going well back. Strong hindquarters. 2. Bowen’s Ultrasonic Gozmo shaded red. Pleasing head, has more keel than my winner, his ribcage could go further back. . Going well in front but unsteady and very wide behind.
LD (2) Two very good specimens of the breed here liked a lot about both of them. 1. Punter’s Welcumen Whiskey, lovely black and tan with a beautiful head and eye. Good front and keel, good neck and topline, good ribbing, very strong hocks. Won on his slightly tighter front construction otherwise same applies to the second. Res CC. 2 Marka-Novaj’s Shenby’s Spitfire.
OD (4) 1 Coxon’s Ch D’Arisca In Confidence. I loved this dog as a baby puppy and he did not disappoint on the day. The loveliest of heads, good eye and expression, excellent neck and front, super outline on the move excellent feet and keel. Very good ribbing going well back., good parallel hindquarters a worthy champion CC. 2 Shenby’s Spitfire, did not help his handler at all in this class, but is still a lovely dog in outline. 3 Lashbrook’s Milfer Jack the Lad
MPB (4) 2 abs. 1 Palin’s Meredhill Arfa Sixpence for Sanmik. Nice red little bitch with a sweet head and good eye shape. She has good feet plenty of keel for a youngster, turns her feet a little. . Ribs go well back, good topline, a little close in hock behind. 2. Humes’ Zoflora Christmas Ivy. This bitch is a really tiny black and tan. Very sweet with a good front and keel and level topline, just a little lacking all over for me on day, but if she grows on will be a very nice little bitch.
PB (7) A very good class of puppy bitches. Spoilt for choice here. 1 Young’s Willowheath Wanda. Won on her lovely length and elegant outline, sweet head and expression, good eye.. Enough keel, very tight in front, good long ribbing, good feet, moved well. Looks like a "Dachshund in Miniature" I loved her. Best Puppy. 2 Blackburn Bennett’s Shardagang Sioux, close decision here. Another promising youngster but was not helping herself by being a little anxious, so sank down a little.. She has a very good construction, lovely neck and good outline though a little unsettled on the move. . These 2 had the best heads, I found some of the heads a little small. 3. Ergis Willowheath Susannah from Siouxline.
JB (6) 1 Hunt’s Carpaccio Shopaholic. Jw. 2 very nice black and tan bitches here, preferred the hindquarters on my winner here. Both have nice heads and eye, good necks. Plenty of keel and ribbing going well back.. Both have good feet and fronts, good retained topline. Liked the movement of my winner here better. Strode out well. 2 Callow’s Garthorne Lady in Black. Close up to one, same applies but thought her movement could be stronger.
PGB (4) Not the strongest of classes. Widdup’s Jondac Golden Dream. Both my first and second were red bitches of a chunky mould.. My winner has a very pleasing head. A lot of keel and quite good ribbing. . Good hindquarters. Rather low to ground which impeded her movement in the grass. 2. Melbourne’s Miss Mercedes of Melriding. Similar in type to my first here. Red with a nice head and eye, good feet and strong front, not quite as tight in elbow as the winner and not the length of ribbing, a little cut up. Moved well but a little close behind. 3 Gates’ Berrycourt Sweet Memories of Setaga.
LB (8) Good class of bitches, 1 Callow’s Garthorne Highlight a beautiful red bitch with a lovely head and eye. Good tight front and feet. Lovely keel, excellent ribbing and topline. Won on her beautiful head and outline and moved true. 2. Bursey’s Berrycourt Dancing Queen of Hartlake. Another beautiful black and tan. Good front, very good ribbing. Good hindquarters, moved a little wider behind. Close decision. 3. Robinson’s D’Arisca in bloom at Inkel liked this bitch also but just off a litter and not moving as well.
OB (6) 1 Lewis’
Shardagang Santa Lucia of Bardachs headed a strong class. I loved this bitch
when she entered the ring, she oozed quality. Loveliest of heads and a beautiful
long elegant neck. Good shoulders and feet,. Plenty of keel and excellent
ribbing and topline and very strong hindquarters. Shown in immaculate condition
with a beautiful shine to her coat. Out moved ever other exhibitor. Bitch CC her
second. BOB and I was delighted to see her win 2nd in the Hound Group . 2
Callow’s Ch Garthorne Leading Lady. Another beautiful bitch shown in excellent
condition. Lovely head and eye, very good feet, front and ribbing, good top
line. I found her rather straight in stifle behind which did not give her the
same flowing hind movement as my winner. 3 Coxon’s D’Arisca Germandachs Sweet
and Low (imp) another lovely black and tan bitch, close decision between these
three.
