MINIATURE SMOOTH HAIRED
As with the other Miniatures the bitches were far more numerous and had greater depth of quality than the dogs, one of the challenges we face is getting a super male within the size limit. I think hindquarters have improved, very few toe in going away, not so long ago this was the norm. However, fronts need some drastic action. A large majority of the entry do make a pretty sight moving outwards, and they seem to turn one foot out far more than another. Lots of funny small ears. Most had very good bodies, with ribbing going far enough back, and only a couple of males were in need of more weight. Open bitch was a joy and a nightmare, there was almost nothing to separate five of them, and I would happily have signed a CC for all those I placed. I was delighted to watch the BOB winner take group four.
VD (4). Really good class. 1 Mendes’ Hobbithill Widgeon of Scharmein. Super outline, which he holds on move. Lovely head of strength and length ok for neck. Excellent front assembly, good rear. Super mover with drive, well boned. Just a bit down in pastern now, super dog. 2 Ashwell’s Granadan Sam. Liked him very much for type. Not the head of 1 and slightly elbowy. Enough neck. Good coat and ribs, well made rear. Excellent profile. 3 Hartley’s Ir Ch Lyrosh Don Perinon JW. Most lovely head, good neck. Little forward in shoulder. Grand body, firm topline. Lovely bone, nice rear.
SPD (7,1). 1 Bate’s Radcliffe Pelicanus to Batendach. Well balanced dog of correct proportions, in good condition and well covered. Head could be a little stronger, good neck. Fair front, super body, rib and topline. Well angulated rear. Good stride. 2 Somerville’s Peaselye Perrywinkle. Very nice outline. Sadly rather at top of size and need more weight. Very good front, super forechest. Bit to much loose skin. Long ribs, very good rear. 3 Long’s Tydurcwr First of the Gang. Very good for body. Has a long head, bit untidy in front action. Holds a very good topline, good rear and true going away. Liked his proportions.
SJ (2). 1 Orton’s Scalamur Solomons Seal. Well balanced dog, head could be a bit stronger. Good neck, very good shoulder, with a well laid upper arm. Nice forechest. Well covered, good body. Would like a better topline. Pleasing rear. Moves with a nice stride. 2 Shelton’s Barisse Gentlemans Relish. Very masculine head, liked his proportions. Decent front but not the front action of 1. Could have a better underline, fair rear.
SYD (no entries).
PGD (10,4). 1 Ergis Siouxline Thomas. Free moving dog of ideal proportions. Liked his leg length, without being ‘leggy’. Super ribcage, well covered body. Could be a bit stronger in head and cleaner coming towards. Well bent stifle. 2 Widdup’s Jondac Justin. Very good head with super eyes. For me a bit too deep in chest. Nice front, well angulated rear. Long stride if untidy out and back. 3 Gaskin’s Glorron Petulenuro of Dovestream. Nice for type, very good outline standing. Long head, good neck. Holds a good topline. Not the front of those above, but like his rear.
LD (8,2). 1 Herrington’s Kathington Chance N Counter. Super condition and in very good mask head. Won on his super rear, really drives around ring. Good neck. Quite a good front, super rib and body. Holds a firm topline. Very pleasing dog. RCC. 2 Newbury & Morris’ Morris Man of Dalegarth. For type I really liked him, not front or feet of winner. Fair head, spoilt by round eye. Has a really good body, super topline. Well made rear. Nicely covered. 3 Doran’s Switherland Actarcio. Very nice dog to go over. Would prefer a stronger head, enough neck. Very good length to upper arm. Well boned, holds a firm topline. Good hind action.
OD (11,1). 1 Callow’s Ch Garthorne Man in Black. Very elegant dog, holds a perfect topline at all times. Long and very typical head, good neck. Touch lower than my ideal, superb body and ribs and he is so well covered. Very good rear. Very good hind action and nice in profile. Classy dog. CC. 2 Mead’s Ch D’Arisca Dennison. Very pleasing dog, again lower than my ideal. Not quite head or topline of 1. Has a well made front. Excellent rib cage. Neat rear. Quality dog in super condition. 3 Bastable’s Ir Ch Nordach Ticket to Ride. Liked his proportions and balance. Nice head, very good neck. Good length rib, underline cuts up a bit and not as good coming towards as those above. Strong rear, very good type dachshund.
GCD (1). 1 Granadan Sam.
VB (7). 1 Mitchell’s Ch Switzerland Lucia at Bronia. Lovely bitch, in super condition. Quite a good head, long neck. Well made front, one of the truest front movers so far. Super body, very good rear. Firm topline. Maintains her super outline on move. Easy winner here. 2 Endersby’s Manakoura Lov-Hie-Hie at Mowbray. Pleasing head, nice outline on move. Good neck, excellent body. 3 Kershaws Hobbithill Woodcark. Very good body, good head, nice neck. Just a little low at wither and so runs up a bit. Nice mover.
SPB (10,2). 1 Bethel’s Hampdach Angelic. Very elegant bitch and the most immature for body in class. Long head, very good neck. Very good front assembly, would like better feet, long ribs. Needs to firm up in middle, super topline. Very good rear. Like her type and proportions very much. Should have a good future. BP. 2 Halsall’s Shelsall Izzy Wizy. Really good honest bitch, shame she flies her ears. Nice head. Well made front and rear. Firm topline, moves well, grand body. 3 Mead’s Minimead Maid Specially. Has a super body, would prefer a stronger head on her. Nice topline, well made rear. Really well covered body.
SJ (10,2). 1 Hartley’s Lyrosh Ebony Lady. Super bitch of high quality. Like her head, good neck, super front, although could be cleaner coming towards. Well ribbed, holds a firm topline. Super rear. Beautiful type. 2 Shelton’s Barisse High Society. Very honest sort of bitch with not a great deal wrong with her. Feminine head, fair neck. Decent front. Very good body, smart mover. 3 Paterson’s Yasmin Fire Babe. Just tends to look unbalanced stood, a bit front heavy, but true mover with good stride. Nice head. Very good rear, well ribbed back.
SYB (12,3). 1 Lyrosh Ebony Lady. 2 MacDonald’s Bensarka After Midnight. Very good bitch, well made, just a bit lower than my preference. Would like a stronger head. Very good neck, well laid shoulder. Nice tight elbow, grand body. Holds a firm topline, good rear. 3 Mitchell’s Bronia Lucidissima. Fairly sound bitch with an excellent topline. Flaps front a touch and would want more leg. Nice ribs, very good rear. Super conditioning.
PGB (11,9). 1 Reed’s Deercroft Midnite Magnoria. Super fox type and balance. Just right for leg. Has a pleasing feminine head, nice front, well laid shoulder with long upper arm. Well ribbed, a tad soft in topline. Super rear. 2 Williams’ Nordach Walking on Sunshine. Elegant bitch, a shade lower and not so good in head. Moves very well and flowed through the withers better than 3. Grand body, firm topline. 3 Rowell’s Emmajesk Starlight JW ShCm. Shapely bitch, has a very pleasing head, long neck, just holds it a bit pricky. Firm topline. Well ribbed, super rear.
LB (12,2). 1 Carter’s Royal Expression of Bollands. Really liked the proportions and type on this bitch. Super head, good neck. Would like her cleaner coming towards. Long rib, form topline, well made rear. Nice free stride. 2 Shelton’s Sarade Lady Tara ShCm. Very nice bitch, looks really good on move. Pleasing head, nice neck. Very good front, a shade low. Moves out well with form topline and good rear. 3 Herrington’s Kathington Chantelle JW. In super condition, nice head. Not shoulder of those above. Very true moving, super body, level topline. Good rear.
OB (10,1). Very strong class, as to be expected. 1 Coxon, Seavons & McMillan’s Can/Am Ch Grandcables Tickle my Fancy. Loved her elegance, flowing lines, type and proportions. Head not her best bit, long neck, very good front. Super forechest and comes at you so true. Lovely body, firm topline. Excellent rear, true and free mover in wonderful condition. CC & BOB. 2 Doran’s Switherland Hobb Nobb. Lovely type bitch, very sound, just a bit elbowy but better head than 3. Good neck, excellent construction, lovely body, firm topline. RCC. 3 Hunt’s Ch Carpaccio Shopaholic JW. Top class bitch, very balanced and like her proportions. Nice neck, super topline. Very good forechest, well made rear. Sound mover.
GCB (1). 1 Black’s Bindrock at Bassodon. Really good bitch, super outline and proportions. Such a good mover in profile, could be a better out and back. Holds topline so well, in super condition.
