MINIATURE SMOOTH HAIRED
I would like to thank the Officers and Committee for asking me to judge Min Smooths with CCs at this prestigious show. Firstly, I was v pleased with my entry and thank the exhibitors for allowing me the privilege of judging their ds and for accepting my placings so sportingly. On a negative side, I found there were a lot of exhibits with large round bulging eyes which I find are not an attractive feature of the Dacshund and tends to make them look toyish rather than hound like. Some were on the thin side again which is not a pleasant feature, not is it attractive and one or two with very splayed feet. All that said, I was v pleased with my winners. MPD (4). 1 Ergis’ Siouxline Isaac. Black and Tan d, 6 mths, good body proportions, pleasing head and eye, good depth of keel, lovely shoulders, neat hocks, well presented and handled, one to watch for the future, BPD; 2 Richardson’s Dolyharp Madrigal at Belazieth. Again another nice black and tan d of 8.5 mths, well balanced and in proportion, good masculine head with dark eye, good front and feet, good topline and underline, not quite the angulation of 1 and not quite the verve of the winner but a quality exhibit; 3 Carter’s Rustic Fox for Boglands. PD 95). 1 Donnadoon Imagination. 11.5 mths black and tan d, correct masculine head, good all round body proportions, good depth of front, tight shoulders, good reach of neck, well bodied, showed and presented well; 2 Ergis’ Siouxline Indigo. 6 mths litter brother to MPD winner, another quality p, had to give way to maturity today, well proportioned d, nice size and shape, good bone and depth of keel, well ribbed and good angulation, firm topline and moved with purpose; 3 Jones’ Radclyffe Pinicola. JD (6). 1 Hunt’s Deercroft Discoverer With Carpaccio. Black and tan d, liked him a lot, well put together and demanded the attention he deserved, a true showman. Masculine head with dark eye, good front and feet, nice reach of neck, well ribbed, good angulation, moved with purpose and style maintaining topline at all times and in harmony with his owner, delighted to award RDCC; 2 Mead’s Minimead Maximus. Nice shaded red d, another nice exhibit of good body shape and size, not quite the head of 1, good front and feet, well placed shoulders, good reach of neck, nice topline and underline, looked good standing and in profile; 3 Blackburn-Bennetts Shardagang San Sebastion. LD (5). Mixed class of different types, a little disappointed with a lot on their movement. 1 Ergis’ Siouxline Thomas JW ShCM. Black and tan d, a lovely exhibit from this kennel, good overall and with a lovely masc8line head and dark eye, good front and feet, nice layback of shoulder, well ribbed and firm body, nice hindquarters which he used, v pleasing exhibit, easily won this class, presented and handled well; 2 Orton’s Scalamor Solomon’s Seal. Nice d of overall balance, pleasing head and eye, good front and feet, excellent ribbing, just preferred the overall performance of the winner; 3 Widdop’s Jondac Justin. OD (4). 1 Coxon’s Ch D’Arisca Inkel Impresario. Clear winner in this class for me, oozes the quality and certainly the best of heads today, stood out as soon as he entered the ring, I was not disappointed on closer examination, good all round d, commanded the ring and moved with purpose and certainly has an air of charisma. Well developed keel, excellent reach of neck and lay back of shoulder, firm topline and underline and the best of hindquarters, no hesitation in awarding him DCC; 2 Melbourne’s Melriding Post Hac Meliora. Another nice black and tan d, slightly smaller size and shape but a v well compact d, pleasing expressions, stood boldly, not quite the head of 1 but a beautiful exhibit, good front, tight feet and nice reach of neck, leading to well placed shoulders, good firm topline and underline and maintained this on the move, unlucky to meet 1 in such fine condition today; 3 Barber’s Melriding Meruisti. MPB (8). 1 Voaden’s Berrycourt Roxy. V pretty 8 mths shaded red b of excellent shape and size, sweet feminine head and good shaped eye, sweet expression, nice front and feet, well placed shoulders, neat hocks and moved with grace and elegance, I am sure her future will be bright; 2 Kerry’s Dolyharp Pizzicato at Kierton. Again 8 mths old black and tan b, slightly taller than 1 and not quite the front but pleasing exhibit, again well balanced and in proportion, feminine head, good solid body, well ribbed and nice firm topline and moved with style and purpose; 3 Worswick Dolyharp Minuet. PB (9). 1 Coxon’s D’Arisca Golden Delicious. What can I say - I have fallen for this baby, my type. Long, low and level and showed as a true professional for one so young. Her expression and temperament second to none. Sweetest of heads, good depth of keel and nice tight feet, well bodied, good shoulders, topline and underline firm and neat quarters, a dream to watch go round the ring with such style and elegance, delighted to award her BPB, BPIB and so pleased to see her go RBPIS under Mr Derek Smith; 2 Barber’s Simply Red Ruby of Rivergate. Another shaded red b of nice shape and size, pleasing head and body proportions, moved well, liked her sweet expression, pleasing front and feet, well bodied and handled well, unlucky to meet 1; 3 Doran’s Dorandaq Edrjuss. JB (12). 1 Mead’s Minimead Maid in Manhatten. My type of b, good shape and size, lovely front and feet, nice reach of neck, well placed shoulders, good ribbing and well muscled, good angulation, moved and showed well, maintaining a firm topline at all times; 2 Melbourne’s Melriding Hortense Louise. Nice black and tan b of good body proportions, nice shape and size, good front and tight feet, pretty head with pleasing expression, tight shoulders, good length of ribbing, compact body, firm topline, neat hindquarters, moved well, unlucky to meet 1 today in such fine conditioni; 3 Hunt’s Can Ch Grandgables Ms Supernatural at Carpaccio. PGB (15). A v mixed class of different types, however I was pleased with my winners. 1 Hartley’s Lyrosh Ebony Lady JW ShCM. Black and tan b, good shaped head and eye, sweet expression, nice body proportions, good angulation, good filled front, tight feet, strong hindquarters, well muscled, looked good standing and in profile, maintained a level topline at all times; 2 Bursey’s Willowheath Bliss with Hardlake. Again another quality exhibit, smaller than 1 but well balanced and in proportion, well filled front, tight feet, neat shoulders, good length of neck, well ribbed, neat hocks and moved freely and with great ease; 3 Black’s Bindrok Bluebell at Bassodon. LB (11). A v nice class, I am sure some will change places on different occasions. 1 Blackburn-Bennett’s Shardagang Equality. Nice black and tan b of excellent body proportions, pleasing head, good front and feet, good length of neck, well laid shoulders, good angulation, moved with purpose and looked good standing and in profile, maintaining a firm topline and underline, a true showgirl, delighted to award her RBCC; 2 Callow’s Garthorne Lady in Black. Again another quality exhibit, v similar type to winner, sweet feminine expression, good prominence of fore-chest and tidy feet, good length of neck to well placed shoulders, liked her angulation and good muscle tone yet still retaining the femininity. Moved with style and great ease; 3 Melbourne’s Melriding Confederate Bobi. OB (8). 1 Coxon’s D’Arisca Art and Design. When I thought my day couldn’t get any better, there she was, a beautiful balanced feminine b, full of style, ring presence and charisma. Sweet feminine expression, good body proportions, nice length of neck, well placed shoulders and well ribbed, neatest of hocks and good muscle tone, moved round the ring effortlessly and presented to perfection. Delighted to award her BCC and BOB and understand this has made her up. My sincerest of congratulations to the handler for producing quality and consistent winners; 2 Hunt’s Ch, Ir CH Carpaccio Shopaholic JW. Another nice quality b from this kennel and worthy of her title, a confident well presented showgirl that pushed 1 v hard, lovely expression, good all round body proportions, well filled front, nicely bunched feet, good layback of shoulder, neat hocks and free mover, firm topline and underline, unlucky to meet 1 in such fine condition; 3 Melbourne’s Melriding Slack Alice.
