MINIATURE SMOOTH HAIRED
Same applies as with the Smooths, my
first impression of this variety is backends. Exhibits would look OK from side
elevation but going away from you some were either very loose from the hocks
down or toeing in badly. My main winners however had no such problems. I was
looking for balance, a good reach of neck so they can readily get their nose to
the ground, excellent front assembly coupled with lovely quarters – I do like a
lovely rounded rump, this makes for a hound that can work all day without
tiring, a good length and depth of ribbing to protect all their vital organs
and, of course, a lovely topline.
MPD (4) 1 Herrington’s Kathington Coeur De Lion, lovely in all
quarters, most appealing head, good reach of neck, well laid shoulders, good
topline, excellent coming and going, keeps equal distance apart; 2 Williams’
Cwmdarhian To Hot To Handle, nice head and expressions, good topline, good
coming and going; 3 Salisbury’s Barratini Aston Martin.
PD (5,1a) Two lovely babies. 1 Coxon’s D’Arisca Speed Dating,
excellent head, neck and shoulders, good topline, nicely rounded rump, keeps
equal distance apart coming and going. BPD; 2 Shutt’s Just Dreaming at Donadoon,
lovely in all quarters. Coat just not in condition. Most appealing head,
balanced all through; 3 Mead’s Filbyflyer Country Life with Minimead.
JD (3,1) 1 Yeoman’s Klynerbyner Vim And Vigour, good balance
throughout, lovely head and expression, good reach of neck, well laid shoulders,
good topline, well rounded rump, keeps equal distance apart coming and going; 2
Callow’s Garthorne Top Gear, preferred front on 1. Good head, neck and topline.
Unbalanced rear movement.
YD (2) 1 MacDonald’s Bensarks The Midas Touch, a nice one, lovely head
neck and shoulders, good topline, length and depth of ribbing, good pro-sternum;
2 Sim’s Little Wizzard of Kelmbeck, good head. Would prefer more neck. Good
topline.
PGD (6,3) 1 Watkinson’s Manakoora Hawaiian Laysan, good length
of neck, well laid shoulders, good topline, nice run off of rump; 2 Watkinson’s
Mankoora Hanapepe Valley, nice head. Would prefer more neck for balance. Good
depth of ribbing; 3 Little Wizzard of K. LD (4,1) 1 Melbourne’s Melriding
Jerome, liked this one a lot, lovely in all quarters, most appealing expression,
good length of neck, well laid shoulders, lovely pro-sternum, good topline,
moved around the ring with purpose; 2 Prittchard’s Hannamouse Dande-Lion,
appealing expression, good neck, shoulders and topline; 3 Shutt’s Black Passion
of Donadoon.
OD (4,2) 1 Dunn’s Barratini Luke Lively at Ashbridge, lovely,
beautifully balanced, good head and expression, good reach of neck, flowing into
well laid shoulders, lovely topline, length and depth of ribbing, lovely
pro-sternum, excellent hind angulation, comes towards you true and goes away
keeping equal distance apart, really uses the ring. CC, was told that this is
his third giving him his title; 2 Melbourne’s Melriding De Lafayette, one I
liked, lovely balance, appealing head and expression, good length of neck, well
laid shoulders, good pro-sternum, uses hocks, keeps equal distance apart coming
and going. RCC.
MPB (4,2) 1 Melbourne’s Melriding Creole Lady, delightful baby, lovely
head and expression, good length of neck flowing into well laid shoulders,
lovely pro-sternum, good length and depth of ribbing, good topline, excellent
hindquarters, lovely feet, really used the ring to her advantage. BP and RCC; 2
Williams’ Dream Maker, lovely in front. Hind movement needs to settle. Good
topline, head neck and shoulders.
PB (7) Difficult class, three lovely bitches. 1 Coxon’s
D’Arisca Barratini Bouquet, lovely head, neck and shoulders, good length and
depth of ribbing, lovely pro-sternum, good topline, keeps equal distance apart
coming and going, good feet; 2 Melbourne and Holdsworth’s Barratini Hubble
Bubble at Melriding, one I liked a lot, not much to choose between these 2, all
of the above applies, could change places another day; 3 Metcalfe’s Metadale
Flirtie Gertie.
JB (8,2) A lovely class of bitches. 1 Hunt’s Carpaccio Royal Parade,
most appealing head, good length of neck flowing into well laid shoulders,
excellent pro-sternum, good length and depth of ribbing, lovely hind angulation,
comes towards you true and goes away keeping equal distance apart; 2 Hyatt’s
Dovestream Enchanted Ruby, good head, neck, shoulders, topline, good length and
depth of ribbing, nice rounded rump; 3 Mead’s Minimead Miz Lucy Lou.
YB (2) 1 D Enchanted Ruby; 2 Burton’s Swingletrees Heaven Leigh, sweet
head and expression, good length of neck. Unfortunately her topline is not her
fortune.
PGB (5,4) 1 Kerry’s Dolyharp Pizzicato at Kireton, good head,
neck, front assembly, topline, nice hindquarters.
LB (8,1) 1 Rowell’s Emmajesk Amelia, there’s a lot to like
about this young lady, lovely head and expression, good reach of neck, well laid
shoulders, good topline, lovely length and depth of ribbing, good pro-sternum,
lovely hind angulation, moves around the ring true fore and aft; 2 Rouse’s
Dvordac Kiss The Future, lovely movement on this young lady, so true coming and
going; 3 Callow’s Garthorne Gazania.
OB (6,2) 1 Coxon’s Ch D’Arisca Golden Delicious, what a beauty,
balanced in every way, nothing exaggerated, she just fills your eye, lovely
head, sweetest expression, good length of neck flowing into well laid shoulders,
excellent pro-sternum, lovely length and depth of ribbing, plenty of heart and
lung room, excels in movement, absolutely true coming and going, excellent
hindquarters with good run off over rump, used the ring to her advantage, could
work all day and never tire, could watch her all day and never tire, just
lovely. CC, BOB and G4; 2 Lombardelli D’Arisca From Dawn Till Dusk at Kelmbeck,
good head and neck, well laid shoulders, good pro-sternum, good topline, nice
