MINIATURE SMOOTH HAIRED
Thank you for the excellent entry which I enjoyed immensely. The variety has a lot of quality & temperaments generally happy & outgoing – only four who were a little apprehensive. I do like to watch dogs move – an accurate indicator of construction & balance & this counts a lot in my assessment of dogs – many clever handlers can make the dogs look excellent on the stand, but the moving picture reveals a lot. The line-up for the dog & bitch challenges pleased me a lot.
Many thanks to my stewards who kept things going smoothly.
VD 1 Ir/Int Ch Nordach Ticket To Ride, 7 years top quality dog in great form, excellent construction & balance, holds his shape on the move, wonderful topline & movement. RCC & pressed all the way; 2 Corrieknowe Circassian, 9 years, very good dog in hard condition & very sound. Not quite the shoulder placement or underline of 1; 3 Hobbithill Widgeon at Scharmein, 11 years, a great credit to the breed, excellent size & balance. Just showing his age a little on the move but has retained his quality. PD 1 Minimead Minisota, 9 months red of beautiful quality, superb head & construction, holds shape well. Needs to fill out in front now but has great potential. In superb condition, his cleanness of outline & carriage on the move put him here; 2 Hartlake Rodley Black Jack into Batendach, impressed me for his quality & balance, excellent ribbing. Not quite the head of 1 & while he scored in front action, didn’t quite match the rear of 1; 3 Barisse High Endeavour, 11 months, I thought he would be my winner on going over him. Beautiful type & balance, lovely head. Just sank into himself a little on the move & couldn’t match the topline of the two above on the day. Perhaps the noise & occasion just overawed him a little – a pity as he is top quality. JD 1 Moongarm Who’s The Daddy, 11 months red, lovely quality, holding his shape well on the move. Just a little cut up in his underline at the moment. Excellent movement at both ends, beautiful head & eye; 2 Dapplecino Katen, 9 months dapple, very good body & ribcage, excellent rear action. Not the cleanness of head or front action of 1; 3 Cwmdarhian Mr Magoo, b/t, in beautiful muscular condition, scored in his head & eye. Just a little high on the leg at the moment & needs to finish in body & chest but a lot of promise. YD 1 Elnside Wood Be Best, beautiful shape & balance held on the move, well angulated & well made, quality head, I liked him a lot; 2 Garthorne Top Gear, b/t, lovely size & balance, holds his shape on the move, going well at both ends. Just needs to fill out all through to mature in middlepiece; 3 Denver Midnight Sun, excellent quality red, I liked a lot on the table. Needs to mature in body. The two above just scored in ribbing & were more finished in body but he pleased me & was BPD. PGD 1 Brianolf Malachite, red of lovely quality & type. Just needing a little more confidence in his carriage but beautiful assembly & has excellent stride at both ends & good topline; 2 Minimead Malachi at Lyrosh, red, holds shape well. Not quite the cleanness through the forehand of 1 but I liked his ribcage, bone, feet & an excellent head; 3 Archibald See Me Now at Maryhazel, reserve in Yeardling, a dog of good build & balance. Just needing to drop into himself now but he has quality, type & soundness. LD Disappointing class. 1 Melriding Jerome, scoring in balance & outline, good ribcage & well constructed at both ends, quality head & eye; 2 Mowbray Music Man, 5 years red, excellent angulation & carriage, good head. A little too squared of over the croup. Sound rear. Not quite the front of 1; 3 Tydurcwrt All’s Quiet, lovely to go over on the table & very sound. A little high in the rearend & needing to drop in his quarters now. Should mature well & finish in the middlepiece will do a lot for him. OD 1 Ch Siouxline Indigo, b/t, beautifully balanced without exaggeration, well put together & holds shape when he moves. Good stride, good width in quarters & great presence on the move. Smoothness over the croup gave him the CC in a close call with the veteran. Lovely dog all through; 2 Ch Donnadoon Imagination at Barisse, lovely dog, a shade more bone all through with beautiful head & eye & chest. Not quite the freedom of action of 1 but a real Dachshund in Minature – I liked him immensely; 3 It Ch Philadelphia, a different type but scored in his excellent movement & holding his shape well. Excellent head & eye, beautiful legs & feet, well ribbed back. GCD 1 Detravis Mt Boneapart von Lutscher, red, scored in ribcage & movement, excellent chest & bone & feet; 2 Siouxline Magnus at Hertsmerry, quality b/t who is rather narrow all through at the moment & needs more body. Lean elegant lines & when filled out will look more balanced.
VB 1 Ch Siouxline Angelina, 12 years & still sound & fit as a youngster, retaining all her quality. Remarkable veteran; 2 Lyrosh Contessa Lucia, 11 years red, beautiful head & eye. Not quite the firmness on the move of 1. Both do great credit to the breed & to pedigree dogs. PB Great class, full of lovely puppies right down the line. 1 Denver Darling Blossom Hill, beautiful puppy all through & holds herself well on the move, scored in ribbing her to head this good class. A great future for her I feel. BP: 2 Sunsong Sea Mist, excellent puppy, excellent head, good angulation. A little larger in body than 1 for perfect balance, sound with good carriage; 3 Bronia Golly Miss Molly at Ashridge, 11 months, completed a trio of good ones. Lovely forehand assembly. Not quite the cleanness of head of winners or as firm in topline but full of quality. JB 1 D’Arisca Barratini Bouquet, good winner in this class. Excellent assembly throughout & holds her shape well. A little exuberant with her tail carriage at times but excellent on the move for accuracy & stride. Skilfully handled to bring out her best; 2 Elnside Secret Love, a little lower to ground than 1 & not quite the length of sternum which shows in her underline. However I liked a lot about her & she has quality throughout. Good bone, clean action & holds her shape; 3 Melriding Creole Lady, loved this bitch on the table but a little apprehensive. Scored in her ribcage on the stand & she has lovely carriage on the move. If she grows in confidence will go far. YB 1 Carpaccio Royal Parade, elegant bitch, full of quality & a good mover carrying a good topline, feminine clean head & good eye shape. Made the last four in the challenge; 2 Jentiki Kendle Welcumen, red, beautiful substance & lovely head & eye. Not quite the freedom of stride of winner but I loved her type & balance; 3 Sanmik One And Sixpence at Kireton, excellent balance & a very true mover. I slightly preferred heads of the two above best & she was not quite so firm but excellent assembly & full of type. PGB 1 Russteck Peatbog Fairy, b/t of lovely balance, well built & well boned. Could be just a little cleaner in cheeks but good eye & excellent movement. Excellent bone, legs & feet & went very well; 2 Pattons Little Eva by Rivergate, red, wonderful clean lines on her. Just a little longer for perfect balance but has a beautiful head, bone & feet. Not quite as finished in chest as winner but full of quality & in wonderful condition & great carriage on the move. Should finish at the top; 3 Barratini Danneka, red, excellent ribbing, body & movement. Tends to fly her ears but good stride. LB 1 Mayger’s Woolsocks Black Satin, took my eye when I sent them round for her beautiful shape & stride & balance. Excellent to go over but she needs more effective handling to make the most of her. However on the move she does it all herself - & she is the most accurate mover with lovely stride, good width in rear & a clean hard topline. Scored in her cleanness through the forehand to take the class & in the challenge kept up her wonderful movement to take RCC; 2 Rowell’s Emmajesk Amelia, beautifully conditioned & shown, very good handler, scored in her beautiful head, excellent type all through & holds excellent shape on the move. Accurate mover. Just preferred the softer flow of neck into withers of the winner but this bitch is top class all through; 3 Hartley’s Lyrosh Ebony Lady, lovely clean lined b/t who carries herself well, liked her head & balance. Not quite front action of the two above. OB Best class of the day, any of the last five could have been a worthy winner. 1 Hunt’s Ch/Can/Am Ch Grandgables Ms Supernatural at Carpac, beautiful b/t, looked a picture on the table, beautifully put together & has a smooth flowing outline, hard topline, excellent forehand & good length of ribbing, strides out well although at times she could get her hocks a little more under her. However when she settled went smoothly. CC & BOB. Went well in the group to take G4; 2 Pritchard’s Hannamouse Bronte, loved her type, size & balance, excellent mover, similar in type & size to winner but not as finished in the body & feet. Needed a little more maturity in the middlepiece. Called in for the RCC & the limit winner scored over her there but should soon have a title on her I feel; 3 Shelton’s Ch Barisse High Frequency, beautiful b/t, lovely bone & substance for her size, great quality all through. I felt she was a little heavy in front. GCB 1 Maxted’s Detravis Just One Look at Lutscher, reserve in PG. A very good bitch of good balance & soundness.
