DACHSHUND MIN SMOOTH HAIRED
I very much
enjoyed judging this variety at this well-run Show, where a super atmosphere
prevailed. It certainly seems that great strides are now being made in the
aftermath of the initial mass eye-testing session. I found some really pleasing
hounds, most of which were in super condition. I was extremely pleased with my
principal winners, especially the CC & RCC winners, and there were some super
puppies in evidence which bodes well for the future. It gave me absolutely no
pleasure, however, to have to withhold 2nd and 3rd in Junior Dog. MPD
(3) 1 Ergis' Siouxline Timon. Black & tan of super type, maturing nicely and
confident for such a baby. Loved his head and front construction, moved with
drive really using his hindquarters, keeping his topline. B.P.D. 2 Blackburn's
Ambiesque Aelle At Stargang. Black & tan, rangier all through than 1. Needs to
tighten in front and rear, moved soundly. 3 Russel's Shelsall Breeze Along To
Russteck. PD (6) 1 Hunt's Carpaccio Captain Scarlet. Shaded red
boy of lovely make and shape. Correctly-made both ends with good ribbing. Moved
with drive but threw his back end about a bit. Put down to the minute in super
condition. 2 Andison & Peel's Clentry Black Pudding. Houndy black & tan boy,
super head proportions. Well-constructed all through and moved well, just a
little soft in topline yet. 3 Williams' Cwmdarhian Cant Touch This. JD
(3) 1 Williams' Cwmdarhian Benjamin Button. Black & tan of really good type,
being houndy with super bone and feet. Excellent head and reach of neck,
correct shoulders and good spring of rib. Moved really well using his quarters.
Seriously considered in the challenge. 2nd & 3rd Withheld. PG
(8,1a) 1 Williams & Jones' Cwmdarhian Billy The Kid. Shaded red boy, again of
good type. Litter brother to previous class winner and little to split them here
today. Out-moved everything to win this class with a bit to spare. 2
Blackburn's Tythe Gordon Brown At Stargang. Chocolate boy with super depth of
colour. Really sound little chap, just a bit reluctant to step it up on the
move today. 3 Worton's Cwmdarhian Little Monty. Ld (5,1a) 1
Salisbury's Willowheath Just William At Brocklewood JW. Absolutely super shaded
red boy who is a hound all through. Excels in head proportions with super front
and reach of neck. Really good layback of shoulder with good length and spring
of rib. Short, strong loin with well-angulated rear, which enables him to power
around the ring with no apparent effort! Elegance and soundness all in one
package, exactly what I was looking for. Pleased to award him the CC (his 2nd)
and am sure he will gain his title with ease. 2 Roberts' Denver Darling Echo
Falls. Shaded red boy of similar type, just in a smaller package. Excels in
front construction and again super houndy head. Shoulders spot on, well ribbed
with good hind angulation. Moved soundly and with drive, shown in super
condition. Close up to 1. 3 Orton's Cagebrook Thyme To Go To Scalamor.
OD (6) 1 Callow's Ch. Garthorne Top Gear JW. Super sound and
workmanlike black & tan, so neat and tidy all through. Really well made in
front and rear with strong ribbing and good loin. Hammy quarters which he really
uses, just wished he could have opened his gait a bit more here. Really would
have loved to see him in top gear. Loved him. R.C.C. 2 Roberts' Denver Midnight
Sun. Elegant, shaded red boy of super make and shape. Correct head with good
reach of neck, super shoulder placement and good length and spring of rib.
Well-angulated, moved correctly but could have been more positive in hind
movement here. 3 Kent's Barratini Jeeves At Lokmadi. MPB (5,1)
1 Ergis' Siouxline Aurora. Elegant red bitch of super type with everything in
the right place. In super nick and showed with confidence, really strode out on
the move showing a clean pair of heels. Keeping a firm topline for such a baby.
2 Dolan's Lutzana Take The Lead. Houndy, shaded-red bitch with much to commend
her. Moved soundly, just not quite so positive as 1 here, but has time on her
side. Nice puppy. 3 Andison & Peel's Witch Of The East At Clentry. PB
(9,1) 1 Mitchell's Bronia Fabrizia. Compact shaded-red bitch of super make and
shape. Loved her front construction. Well-placed shoulders, super ribbing and
short, strong loin, really well-angulated rear. Comes into her own on the move,
showing really good drive and extension. Has a fab temperament which just helps
complete the overall picture. Definitely one to watch, B.P. and close up for
R.C.C. 2 Ergis' Siouxline Thomasina. Black & tan of different type, being
lengthier and slightly taller. Extremely elegant and shown in hard condition
with a gleaming coat. Moved really well just not so positive in rear today, but
a super prospect. 3 McAuley's Elnside Syrupittydodan. JB (5,1a)
1 Callow's Garthorne Miss Dynamite JW. Black & tan of good type. Super head,
neat front and good lay of shoulder. Well-ribbed with well-angulated rear.
Moved well, using her hocks to really drive. Nothing overdone, very promising. 2
HerringtonRouge Royale For Kathington. Red of smaller proportions and giving
away a lot in maturity here. Has super bone and substance in a small package.
Very much a hound, moved really well showing drive & extension. 3 Williams'
Cwmdarhian Touch Of Class. PGB (10,4a) 1 Williams' Cwmdarhian
Mizz Lucy Lou. Shaded-red. Houndy with super bone and substance, decent head and
reach of neck. Tidy front and strong ribbing, good hind angulation. Moved
soundly with drive, holding a firm topline. 2 Mitchell's Bronia Feliciana.
Shaded red of super type, litter sister to winner of Puppy bitch. Close up, just
lost out on maturity here. Moved well with drive, very promising. 3 McAuley's
D'arisca Strip The Willow At Elnside. Lb (7,2a) 1 Melbourne &
Holdsworth's Barratini Hubble Bubble At Melriding JW. Elegant black & tan put
down in lovely condition. My notes say long, low & level, which is just as it
should be. Really well constructed all through and moved soundly to take the
class with a bit in hand. 2 Orton's Scalamor Belle Heather. Shaded-red bitch of
bigger frame than 1. Super bone and substance and very houndy. Sound as a bell,
especially on the move. 3 Mcauley's Elnside Truffles For Once. OB
(7) 1 Blackburn's Ch Sonderbar Billie Jean At Stargang. An absolute cracker! Red
bitch of super type, very clean in head and neck. Excellent front with best
shoulders of the day. Well-off for rib, with strong loin running into well-made
hindquarters that this young lady can really use. Holds a strong topline at all
times and really excels on the move. Driving from her rear, showing super drive
and extension. Delighted to award her the CC and BOB, and pleased to later see
her go on to BIS. Well Done. 2 Callow's H Garthorne Gazania JW. Super-sound red
that was very unlucky to meet 1 here! Absolutely correct all through,
shorter-coupled than 1 but gave her a run for her money. Moved like a train but
couldn't match the scope of 1 here. A very worth Ch, was pleased to award her
the RCC in good company. 3 Ergis' C H Siouxline April Folly. Breeders: Ergis -
Siouxline.
