DACHSHUND - MINIATURE SMOOTH HAIRED

A very nice entry of 75 dogs and not many absentees. As always I enjoyed judging this breed, although this time some of the dog classes were a bit disappointing in numbers and quality. The bitches were much better, which is good for any breed. I had quite a few puppies between 6-9 mths, perhaps minor puppy classes could be added another year.

PD (8, 1) 1, BP, CC and BOB, Blackburn's Welcumen Red Rum At Stargang. 11 mths red with a lot going for him, quality head, intelligent expression, good front and feet, excellent topline and length of body, lovely coat, well conditioned, such a sound mover, engaging showman, well handled and presented, great potential. 2 Ergis' Siouxline Zebedee. Promising b/t, same age as first, charming head and expression, dark eyes, good outline and proportions, very good topline, well bodied and conditioned, not moving as well in front as first. 3 Scott's Wolferlow Captain Bellamy.

JD (3) 1 Roberts' Denver Darling Harry Potter. 16 mths b/t with pleasing head, serious expression, dark knowing eyes, good outline, coat and overall proportions, moved with style but needs to tighten up in front action, well conditioned. 2 Mead's Lokmadi Blushing Groom For Minimead. 16 mths, typical expression, good bone, legs and feet, lovely body, good coat and condition, failed in front movement. 3 W Captain Bellamy.

PGD(3) 1 Shuker's Yewlitt Dougal. 14 mths b/t, just a bit too happy with his tail when moving, good head, eyes and expression, well proportioned, excellent coat and condition, moved and showed quite well. 2 Burton's Swingletrees Just-In-Time. 2 yrs old red, not 100 per cent relaxed when moving, so movement difficult to assess properly, good length of head, fit and well conditioned, shiny coat. 3 Shutt's Donnadoon Le Mou.

LD(3) 1 and RCC, Muggleton's Mosiarto Mister Motivator. 14 mths b/t, great temperament, showed himself off beautifully on a loose lead and no stacking, good eye and type, quality head, dark bright eyes, firm body and topline, confident mover, real little trouper. 2 Phillips' Jentiki Red Chilli Pepper Of Robinswood. 2 yr old red, looked worried on the table but relaxed a bit more once on the floor, lovely feet, attractive head, good length of body, moved ok. 3 Shelton's Barisse A Touch Of Magic.

OD(4) Slightly disappointing class. 1 Herrington's Kathington's Coeur De Lion. Nearly 3 yrs old this b/t, good type and size, relaxed showman, very laid back, typical head, good body and ribcage, clean and well presented, moved quite well. 2 Ergis' Siouxline Timon. 2 yrs old b/t, lovely head and expression, well shown and handled, smart and showy but movement not 100 per cent today and would prefer shorter hocks. 3 Muggleton's Mosiarto Mister Big.

GCD(1) 1 Neill-Fraser's Granadan Revelation At Baxendale. Nearly 2 yrs old b/t, dark eyes, alert expression, failed in topline and movement which lacked drive, glossy coat, good body. PB(15, 3) 1 and RCC, Salisbury's Brocklewood Calypso. Won a very nice class. 8 mths old red, confident attitude and very pleased with herself, good length of head, excellent feet, good outline, moved well both ways, super coat and condition, promising quality puppy. 2 Cook's Petlyn's Ehawee. 7 mths old red, already has a really good topline, attractive head, good coat and body, not yet the fluency in movement of first but an eyecatching puppy in good form. 3 Kent's Kiswahili Linda Lokmadi.

JB(16, 2) Another good class. 1 Ergis, Melbourne &Holdsworth's Sioux Alliance With Melriding. 16 mths b/t, full of her own importance, head held high and very confident, pretty face, bright eyes, excellent quality and type, very good body and topline, well balanced, as was 2, Melbourne, Ergis &Holdsworth's Golden Algonquinette Of Melriding. Turned out to be her litter sister! Quality red with good head and expression, angelic looking but owner said she is not! Clean neckline, excellent body, shapely, moved well behind. 3 Roberts' Bronia Caprice To Denver.

PGB(6, 1) 1 Salisbury's Brocklewood Black Velvet. 20 mths b/t, well proportioned with glossy coat, good head and eyes, well muscled quarters, held her topline, well handled, needs to improve in front movement. 2 Melbourne's Meiriding Berengaria. 18 mths, feminine b/t, lovely dark eyes, full of expression, good body and bone, steady showgirl, front movement a bit lacking. 3 Kent's Lokmadi Crouching Tiger.

LB(8) 1 Blackburn-Bennett's Lokmadi Sea Holly At Stargang. 20 mths, shaded red, bit of a fidget on the stack but her handler worked hard to keep her going, looked very good moving round with style and confidence, good length of head, intelligent expression, lovely coat and condition, good length of body. 2 Burton's Swingletrees Amazing-Grace. 2 yrs old, most attractive head, expressive eyes, good body and bone, held her topline going round, could not quite match hind movement of first. 3 Kent's Lokmadi Hidden Dragon.

OB(7, 2) 1 and CC, Ergis' Siouxline Thomasina JW. 2 yrs old b/t, put in a very good performance both standing and moving, quality head, feminine and assertive, dark eyes, well proportioned and conditioned, well ribbed up, moved soundly with plenty of vigour, strength of hindquarters, fully deserved the CC, her third. 2 Hunt's Cwmdarhian Back To Alabama A Carpaccio JW. 19 mths b/t, up to weight today, good length of head, bright eyes, good length of body, excellent feet, well muscled quarters, also moved and showed well, could be a little more feminine. 3 Kent's Toniajavae Indian Passion At Lokmadi JW.
