MPD (3) 1 Hunt’s Carpaccio Red Adair, 8 months red with style & quality, very well balanced head, excellent length of neck, well filled front, good ground clearance, firm topline, well ribbed, bit long coupled. Moves dead true going away & opens up nicely in profile but needs to tighten in front; 2 Lee’s Pyknikspring Kaisho, barely 6 months red with quality head, shorter ribcage than 1 & tends to hump his topline on the table yet moving he holds it well. Nicely covered but well within weight; 3 Davies’ Cwmdarhian The Italian Job for Davdax. PD (5) 1 Blackburn-Bennett’s Stargang Avenger, 10 months r/br with great scope & style, elegant head that needs a little more fill under the eyes. Long reachy neck, ample keel, well ribbed with optimum angulation front & back. Moves dead true in all directions. He could be more clearly marked & with full maturity I suspect he may go overweight but here he did not tip the scales & his sheer soundness, style & presence took him through to the RCC & BP; 2 Butler’s Donnadoon Jolly Roger for Glyndwr, 9 months red, smaller framed than 1 but not with his presence or enthusiasm for the job in hand. Well balanced head, good basic construction, roaches his back on the stack but much more settled on the move where he carries himself smartly; 3 Shelton’s Barisse Eragon. JD (1) 1 Burton’s Swingletrees Razzamatazz, 14 months red of quality, lovely head type, clean outline with sufficient ground clearance, excellent bone for his size, a little short in ribcage, moves true up, down & around & carries himself smartly. PGD (3) 1 S Razzamatazz; 2 Scott’s Wolferlow Captain Bellamy, b/t of good basic type, masculine head, quality bone, plenty long enough but not as firm in topline as 1 or as good in tailset. Moved steadily. LD (3) 1 Phillips’ Jentiki Red Chilli Pepper of Robinswood, classy red with great ring presence. Beautiful quality head, clean flowing lines with firm topline & excellent angulation throughout. Nicely covered & in gleaming condition, moves cleanly in front but could go away more truly; 2 Burton’s Swingletrees Just-In-Time, another red, balanced head, well filled front but shorter in rib & not as steady in topline as 1, still has a well balanced outline, moved adequately; 3 Thomas’ Cwmdarhian Butch Cassidy at Acedachs. OD (4) 1 Robert’s Ch Denver Darling Harry Potter, high quality b/t, a real Dachshund in miniature as his head balances with his body & he is well covered, fit & hard. Beautifully balanced outline, enough keel, well ribbed, firm backline, moves with great style even if he could be a little truer going away which is where the bitch beat him for BOB but well deserved the CC; 2 Blackburn’s Welcumen Red Rum at Stargang, scopy red, slightly longer cast than 1 but a sound & stylish mover. Preferred expression of 1 whose coat was in better condition & he was better covered; 3 Kent’s Lokmadi Ocean’s Eleven.

MPB (12) Strong class. 1 Williams’ Manacas Amber Cover at Wilmerella, 6½ months red of perfect size & so beautifully balanced. Beautiful head & expression, well filled front with excellent overall construction & ideal length of leg. Well ribbed back, so sound on the move. Has that air of the thoroughbred about her but just needs a little extra confidence. In beautiful bloom. BPB; 2 Blackburn-Bennett’s Stargang Serena’s Song, 6 months red, bigger framed than 1 but equally well balanced & covered, long elegant head with not quite the expression of 1, very necky, good bone & rib, excellent topline, moved steadily when she settled; 3 Sant’s Stargang Oh So Sharp. PB (6) 1 Kent’s Lokmadi On Silent Wings, nearing 12 months top quality red beautifully covered but still well within weight. Excellent head type, clean flowing outline & so well balanced, stylish mover but could be a bit truer going away; 2 Scott’s Wolferlow Anthea, 6 months b/t of excellent type & quality, lovely head & expression, well boned & bodied. Not quite so well let down behind as 1 or as firm in topline but moves steadily; 3 Blackburn Bennett’s Stargang Evora. JB (6) 1 Welham’s Lokmadi Gypsy Moth at Barryann, 14 months red of ideal size, well boned & bodied, quality head, could have a tad more neck, very well ribbed back, so well constructed & moved accordingly being as sound as a pound. Could have shown with a little more joie de vivre but her correctness more than warranted the class; 2 Kent’s Lokmadi Paper Tiger, 14 months b/t whose markings could be clearer. Balanced head with typical expression, very pronounced keel but almost a little too low in front & underline more extreme than 1. Moves with great style & accuracy; 3 Worswick’s Dolyharps Symphony. PGB (6) 1 Fraser’s Donlaynes Dainty Dinah, red of quality who won here on her super sound movement. A true miniature with bone & substance, well covered & everything balanced. Feminine head, a little stuffy in neck but holds her outline well. Not the most outgoing but the best mover; 2 Griffiths’ Stargang Lady Catelyn, b/t who was a little more enthusiastic than 1 but I preferred her head qualities & topline on the move. Nicely boned & bodied & essentially well balanced; 3 Boyce’s Tysar Moon River at Hollygor. LB (8) Very difficult class to judge. 1 Shelton’s Barisse Arbennik Isoldes Endeavour, super quality red who needs to relax more as she tends to throw her ears back at times which does not help the overall picture. That said, I loved her overall shape, balance, head & general construction. She also moves superbly, reaching in front, driving behind, dead true out & back & holding her outline at all times. A joy to go over on the table & an object lesson in conditioning. Won her first CC & BOB comfortably & I was delighted to watch her win G2 under Dachshund specialist Martin Sanders; 2 Reed’s Cedax Octavia Surprise for Deercroft, b/t with great style, not the smooth head contours of 1 & a little smuttily marked but she is so well put together & one of the few to really stand well on her hind feet. Moved smartly but picked her forefeet up a little higher than 1; 3 Worswick’s Willowheath Prudence. OB (3) 1 Blackburn’s Ch Sonderbar Billie Jean at Stargang, high quality red with very pleasing head & expression & good overall balance. Well ribbed with nicely filled front, stands weakly behind on the table yet moves surprisingly well going away. Holds her topline on the go around but could use tail more. Still merited the RCC; 2 Reed’s Deercroft Devotion, red in amazing form for her almost 8 years, standing she looked an easy winner as she stands so well on her legs & is so well let down behind but moving she was a little stiff & wide behind and not quite as free as 1; 3 Kent’s Lokmadi Crouching Tiger.
