This is the first time I have awarded CC's in this
variety and I was overwhelmed by the entry thank you. Unfortunately this
means that more people go cardless but my placings were taken with good
grace. I found that too many of the entry heads that were nearer a toy
variety than a hound. Lots of short sharp noses with round eyes and ears
with short leathers. Whilst I felt that few had the bold and outgoing
temperament called for in the standard none appeared overly nervous. I was
surprised to find that many exhibits had teeth that could have been cleaner
- there is no excuse for dirty teeth. Some exhibits also had nails that were
long enough to interfere with their movement again inexcusable. I look for a
balanced picture with a driving movement and I managed to find that in my
winners. Sp Beginner D/B (2) 1 Rudkin's Dynastydax Secret Agent. Very young
immature bitch with a nice type of head. Layback of shoulder was ok but she
lacked upper arm which gave her rather wingy elbows. Better topline than 2,
Carey's Lily Diamond Rose Of Debbiejay. Rather lacking in foreface and
rather round in eye. Front construction was acceptable but she lost topline
on the move due to lack of propulsion in the rear. MPD (7) 1 Handy's
Perirroja Rocket Science. Shaded red with lovely head and eye. He had a good
front with tight elbows and good muscular hindquarters which showed on the
go round. Nice overall picture and parallel movement coming and going. 2
Kent's Lokmadi Come Fly With Me. Very close decision on first and second,
and very similar remarks apply. Just felt that the winner had the edge on
maturity, but I think they could change places on another day. 3 Coxon's
D'Arisca Suits You. PD (8, 1) 1 Ergis' Siouline Aaron. Compact dog with
balance and type. Good reach of neck and front construction with prominent
pro-sternum. Held topline at all times with true movement fore and aft.
Tight feet with nice short nails. BPD. 2 Kent's Lokmadi Come Fly With Me. 3
Roberts's Denver Darling Doctor Who. JD (5, 2) 1 Mitchell's Ygeia Landgraf 1
For Bronia. I was glad I was judging this dog, not trying to say his name!
Brindle dog with excellent patterning. Proud head carriage flowing into
excellent neck and front construction, still some maturing to do, but
immaturity isn't a fault. Really strode out round the ring and nice to see
the more outgoing temperament. 2 Parish's Melriding Lambert Simnel Of
Garlandelms. Smaller more compact dog but with nice overall quality, would
prefer better tailset. Not as outgoing as winner which did show on the move.
3 Paterson's Sylvain Followin Footsteps. PGD (6, 1) 1 Watkinson's Manakoora
Arookanam. Black and tan with reasonable head and neck, but slightly upright
in shoulder and lacked upper arm. Would prefer a better return of stifle but
presented best overall picture in this class. 2 Phillips' Carpaccio Mr
Selfridge Of Robinswood. Good outline, but again lacked in upper arm, which
is apparent when moving towards you. 3 Laidlaw's Russteck Figgy Duff. LD (9,
1) 1 Ergis' Siouxline Flynn Rider. Very smart red boy. Good head, neck and
reasonable layback of shoulder. To be picky, would like more upper arm which
would improve front movement. Correct height to length ratio and good
topline which he held on the move. 2 Carey's Swingletrees Abracadabra.
Presented a pleasing outline. Moved out reasonably well which could be
improved with more muscletone. Better layback and shoulder placement than 3
Kent's Lokmadi A Boy Named Sue. OD (7, 1) 1 Daykin's Ch Barratini Jonny
Cash. He took my eye as soon as he came into the ring and I wasn't
disappointed when I went over him. Super type with true Dachshund head and
eye shape which flows into good shoulders and better upper arm than most.
Good length of ribbing. Lovely bone for size and excellent tight feet.
Really strides out in profile holding his outline at all times and has
parallel movement both coming and going. Dog CC. 2 Coxon's Ch D'arisca Full
On. Close decision. Another dog to be proud of. Similar remarks apply, but
felt the winner just had the edge on hind action. Res Dog CC. 3 Smith &
Connor's Ch Bronia Gregorio. MPB (8, 1) 1 Addison & Peel's Clentry Curly
Whirly. Brindle baby with beautiful head and reachy neck, flowing into tidy
front and good length of ribbing. Nice tight feet, she moved out with
purpose retaining her outline and as a bonus a lovely wagging tail. 2
Coxon's D'Arisca Dizzy Heights. Smaller more compact bitch but again lovely
type. I just preferred the head of the winner but pushed very hard. 3 Oakley
& Pearson's May Blosson Ardenrun. PB (9, 2) 1 Mitchell's Denver Darling
Senorita At Bronia. Really sound bitch with excellent head construction
flowing down through elegant neck into good front with prominent pro
sternum. Moved true fore and aft and really stood out in profile movement.
Nice tight feet and good bone for size. Res Bitch CC. BP & RBPIS. 2 Reed's
Deercroft Summer Serenade. Another nice bitch of good type. Just didn't feel
she had the return of stifle of winner and therefore not quite such positive
hind drive. 3 Coxon's D'Arisca Dressed For Best. JB (10, 2) 1 Curtis'
Curtisy Peggy Sue. Sound bitch with good height to length ratio. Correct
overall structure meant that she moved true both fore and aft presenting a
pleasing profile. 2 Kent's Lokmadi Good Night Irene. Another lovely bitch
with similar attributes, just slightly longer in loin than winner. 3
Blackburn's Stargang Tiger Tattoo. PGB (16, 4) 1 Salisbury's Brocklewood
Black Rose JW. Good head and correct ear placement and length. Tidy front
but could have more upper arm. Moved true. 2 Sant's Stargang Oh So Sharp.
Again good head and eye. Presented a nice picture with good overall type and
balance. Longer in hock than class winner. 3 Curtis' Curtisey Chief
Bridesmaid. LB (19, 4) 1 Kent's Lokmadi Hidden Dragon. Loved this bitch - so
sound. Excelled in head neck and front construction flowing into good long
ribcage. Muscular hindquarters that pushed her round the ring with great
style. Held her outline at all times and moved true both fore and aft.
Excellent bone for size. By same dog as Dog CC winner. Bitch CC & BOB. 2
Callow's Garthorne Miss Toffee. Another nice bitch of excellent type and
construction. Similar remarks to winner apply but felt she didn't quite have
the hind quarters of first. 3 Sheppard's Thystine Summer Silhouette. OB (10)
I found this class the most difficult of the day so many different types.
Splitting hairs between first and second placements. Both had many
attributes and on another day could change places. 1 Williams & Moes' Lux Ch
Mal Ch Cwmdarhian Cara Mia. Liked the head, neck and shoulder placement of
this bitch which carried through into very sound front movement. I would
prefer more return of stifle but that said, moving away her hind action was
parallel and straight. 2 Callow's Ch Garthorne Little Eva. Smaller bitch but
very balanced with good breed type. 3 Mitchells' Bronia Feliciana.
