May I thank the miniature
Dachshund Club for their kind invitation to judge. This was my first time
judging this variety of dachshund, my main winners pleased me being
unexaggerated with good balance and outlines both stacked and on the move.
Having said that there was a variety of type over the entry with some too low to
the ground whilst others were too exaggerated in length, one or two were
bordering on being too big. A couple topped the scales and there were a couple
who although not thin would have benefitted with a little more padding. Overall
movement needs addressing as many are short in upper arm giving a very short
choppy front action and rear action needs to drive the dog forward very few have
correctly constructed rear ends to create the drive needed for this. I do think
many would benefit from harder conditioning in the form of more sustained
exercise. I know just how hard this has been
this wet winter but you do have the advantage of not having to cope with long
coats to dry and groom when you get home! Vet (3)1 Middleton's Bensarka Too Darn
Hot for Lokmadi. 10 year old bitch belying her age. Well made with good balance
with good top and underline held on the move. Correctly shaped head held on
arched neck. One of the few who had correct length of ribbing and short loin.
She really moved out well in the challenge, just pipped by the younger Open
bitch. RCC. 2 Paterson's Yasmin Fire Babe Another ten year old lower to the
ground than first and not moving as freely. Good overall shape held on the move.
MPD (6,1)1 Carroll and Pagget's Bronia Valente. Good head and expression. Well
balanced with a good outline held on the move. Preferred his overall type to
second in class. 2 Watkinson's Manakoora Arookanam. Taller on the leg than first
and not as mature. correct head with a well arched neck flowing into topline
held on the move. Slightly out at elbow at the moment but this may tighten along
with his back movement with maturity. PD (3,1)1 Hunt's Myforbe Matchmaker at
Carpaccio. This boy looked really well stacked with a good front attractive head
carried on a well shaped neck flowing into a good topline, with good length of
ribbing. Just preferred the hind movement of cc winner in the challenge. RCC
Best Puppy in Breed. 2 Heptinstall's Pascallie Blue Moon. Different type from
first with a good head and expression, but not as balanced or as free on the
move. JD(4)1 Melbourne's D'Arisca Flaunt it at Melridding. Neat well balanced
red with good head shape and arched neck. Tight elbows with correct ribbing and
short loin. Moved out well but I would prefer slightly more ground clearance. 2
Russell's Russteck Figgy Duff. Balanced dog with more ground clearance than
first but not so good in front and rear angulation hence not the driving
movement from the rear or the reach in front. yd (4)1 Burton's Swingletrees
Razzamatazz JW. Red of balanced shape stacked and on the move good head on good
length of neck. Better hind movement than many, just wish he would relax more
when stacked. 2 Lee's Pyknikspring Kaisho. Bigger type altogether with less
angulation throughout. Good head and length of neck. Held a good outline on the
move. pgd (4,1) 1 Muggleton's Solar Flare at Mosiarto. Looked better stacked
than on the move when his lack of angulation let him down. Reasonable head
carried on good length of neck, would prefer longer ribbing. 2 Robertson's
Mosiarto Masterpiece at Ravenwood. Better construction than first but wouldn't
stand to be assessed on the table. Moved well and really got his place on his
better movement over the rest of the class. ld (7,1)1 Daykin's Barratini Jonny
Cash. Neat red with classic head, good front and length of ribbing. Kept a good
top and underline on the move. Shame he just lacked that sparkle in the
challenge as I really liked him. 2 Smith and Connor's Bronia Gregorio. More
compact than first and not as correct in head, good body shape when stacked but
high tail carriage spoilt his outline on the move. OD(6,1)1 Muggleton's Mosiarto
Mister Big. Nothing big about this boy neat well shaped body with a good front
correct length of ribbing with short loin, correct top and underline held on the
move. Moved with drive round the ring. CC 2 Ergis's Ch Siouxline Levi. Taller
type with good front and rear assembly. Pleasing head and expression. Not moving
as well as first in class today. MPB (13,3)1 Salisbury's Brocklewood Black Rose.
Mature puppy for age, correct head and eye shape with a pleasing expression.
Good top and underline when stacked and held on the move, slightly taller on the
leg with good front and hind angulation. 2 Stokes Webbers Swansong. Not as
mature as first, good shape overall, with good topline held on the move. Not as
much ground clearance as first but moved out well. PB (6,2)1 Muggleton's
Mosiarto Miss Understood. Promising puppy with a good outline held at all times.
Good front and hindquarters with better length of ribbing than most in this
class. Moved with enthusiasm. Best Puppy Bitch. 2 Reed's Deercroft Spring
Promise. Heavier type to first and not so positive when moving her high tail
carriage doesn't help. Good head shape and reasonable front and hind angulation.
JB (12,3)1 Blackburn-Bennett's Stargang Serena's Song. Red with correct
proportions, and angulation. Good outline held on the move. 2 Caroll and Paget's
Stargang Silver Star at Marvale. Dapple of more compact outline than first. Well
shaped head and pleasing expression. Moved out well holding her top and
underline at all times. YB (14,3)1 Kent's Lokmadi On Silent Wings.
Well-proportioned bitch with a good head and expression. Good length of ribbing
and short loin giving a good top and underline held at all times. 2 Blackburn's
Stargang Desert Vixen. Good head and eye shape held on reasonable length of
neck. Not the front and hind angulation of first, and consequently not the free
movement of first. PGB (14,4)1 Andison and Peel's Clentry Despicable Me. Pale
red with reasonable angulation, would prefer more length of upper arm. Outline
held on the move. 2 Boyce's Tysar Moon River at Hollygar. Good overall shape
with enthusiastic movement spoiled by short upper arm giving a choppy front
movement. LB (12)Class of very different types, some over long and others short
and lacking in ribbing. 1 Callow's Garthorne Little Eva. Well balanced bitch,
with pleasing outline held at all times. Good head and expression. 2 Mitchell's
Bronia Fabrizia. Another balanced bitch with good outline held on the move, not
as good in forehand as first. OB(7,2)1 Ergis's Ch Siouxline Aurora. Elegant red
who flowed round the ring. Well placed shoulders leading to prominent oval
forechest. Correct outline with good length of ribbing and strong hindquarters.
CC & BoB 2 Hunt's Carpaccio Crimson Ribbon. Quality compact bitch, with good
head and expression. Just a little hesitant on the move today.
