I’d just like to say thank you to the committee of the Dachshund Club for the invitation to judge this lovely variety. Thanks also go to the exhibitors for a fabulous entry. This was one of my favourite Dachshund appointments as I found the variety to have such depth of quality & I congratulate the breeders for achieving this.
B (9,4a) 1 West’s Archidax Betty Boop, 10 month old red bitch. Nice little bitch with pretty head & good eye, good enough front, level topline, balanced hind angulation. Steady mover, just a little close behind but very promising; 2 Allen’s Royaldach’s Truly Decadent, 15 month b/t. Oversized but balanced. Slightly stronger in head, level topline & a steady mover; 3 Cumberland’s Mumysami Miss Solitaire. MPD (7,3) 1 Callow’s Garthorne Gavin, a very nice b/t dog with a lovely look & a balanced outline. Good head & eye. Good front, excellent in ribbing, balanced hindquarters. Sound, steady mover; 2 Blackburn’s Stargang Whipoorwill, a promising red puppy, looking rather raw compared to the first. A lovely head & eye, good enough front & level topline, balanced hindquarters. Just needs to settle on the move but very promising; 3 Rudkin’s Dynastydax Peter Pan. PD (3) 1 Ergis’ Siouxline The Musketeer, lovely red dog, excellent for size, good body, lovely head & eye, excellent in front, level topline, good rear angulation, very sound & easy mover. BP, & thrilled to see him go on to win BPIS; 2 Dunhill’s Gellijams Aldanti, a nice headed b/t, good length of neck, keel & ribbing. Balanced quarters, moved out well but a little lean on condition; 3 Barnes’ Swingletrees Viva Las Vegas. JD (2) 1 Phillips’ Stargang Devil-May-Care of Robinswood, a rangy looking red dog with a lovely head & eye, OK neck, good shoulder & ribbing, level topline, well angulated hindquarters, free moving dog; 2 Yeomans’ Klynerbyner Trademark. Choc boy, good ribs & body condition, balanced quarters, could use a bit more neck. Not the freedom of movement of the winner. PGD (11,3) 1 Muggleton’s Mosiarto Mister Valentino, smart red dog who displayed a balanced, unexaggerated outline. Lovely eye & expression, good front, level topline, balanced hindquarters. A steady, sound, free moving dog; 2 Scott’s Wolferlow Will Scarlet, rangy b/t. Nice head, good reach of neck, enough front, level topline. Easy, free moving dog; 3 Rudkin’s Dynastydax Secret Agent. LD (5,1) A tough class with four very good males but of different types, headed by two very lovely reds. 1 Roberts’ Denver Darling Doctor Who, I was very taken with this dog on the day who has a lovely head & eye, excellent ribbing, level topline, well let down quarters, scored particularly in underline over 2. RCC; 2 Protheroe’s Royalmaple Anky Panky, this lovely red dog who I have admired in the past, came close to first. Lovely head & eye, good front, topline & quarters. Just preferred the more houndy appearance of the winner, nevertheless, a dog of high quality; 3 Williams’ Wilmerella Wells Fargo. OD (9,2) 1 Barrett’s Ch Ayseebee Rumour Has It, this b/t dog certainly has ring presence & an air about him. Masculine head, reachy neck, level topline, well angulated rearquarters & such sound & powerful movement. This dog is very hard to overlook. CC; 2 Ergis’ Ch Siouxline Aaron, very nice red dog, lovely head & neck, good front, level topline, well developed hindquarters, a sound & free mover; 3 Moes & Harp-Jones’ Cwmdarhian Tropic Thunder at Carlita. VD (1) 1 Herrington’s Ch Kathington Coeur De Lion, 8 year old, smart b/t shown in excellent condition. Lovely head & excellent, neck topline & quarters. Such a sound & happy dog who shows his heart out & is a credit to his owner. BV.
MPB (17,6) This class was full of promising babies headed by two excellent bitches, interesting to see they are litter sisters. 1 Blackburn-Bennett’s Stargang Cherry Berry, lovely red bitch with beautiful head & eye, reachy neck, sound front, excellent ribbing, level topline, well developed hind angulation, shows such promise for the future; 2 Hutchings’ Stargang Hot Cross Bun, brindle but so similar to the first in body. Very many of the same lovely comments apply. I’m sure, like her sister, that she will have a fantastic show career; 3 Hunt’s Carpaccio Scarlet O’Hara. PB (13,2) 1 S Hot Cross Bun; 2 A Betty Boop; 3 Rudkin’s Dynastydax Periwinkle. JB (4,2) 1 Ergis’ Siouxline Esther Rose, typy red bitch who is so sound & free moving. Lovely head & eye, reachy neck, good front, level topline, balanced rearquarters, typical of the type produced by this kennel; 2 Scott’s Wolferlow Miami, shaded red, feminine head, well developed front, level topline, a sound steady mover but not quite the hindquarters of the winner; 3 Logan’s Goblindol She’s A Diva. PGB (12,5) 1 Hughes’ Siouxline Tiana to Julidachs, a very sound, balanced & unexaggerated bitch with nothing out of place. Pretty head, reachy neck, level topline, good quarters & a sound, free mover; 2 West’s Archidax Bonneville. Another nice red bitch, slightly heavier all through but balanced overall with good quarters, steady mover; 3 Smith’s Wolferlow Maid Marion. LB (18,5) A really nice class & a very close decision between the first two. 1 Russell’s Russteck Plum Duff, a quality b/t, slightly heavier build than the second but lovely to go over but so sound & typical. Good head & eye, very good neck, great front, excellent ribbing, balanced rearquarters. So sound & precise on the move. RCC; 2 Muggleton’s Mosiarto Miss Calculate, slightly lighter build all through but again, a very nice bitch. Has a lovely look about her, feminine head, good reach of neck, excellent front & ribbing, level topline, well developed rearquarters, & displays a very happy temperament; 3 Burton’s Swingletrees Xtravaganza. OB (4,1) Three very nice bitches. 1 Blackburn-Bennett’s Stargang Star Anise, this b/t bitch caught my eye as she entered the ring, such a typical Dachshund. Such a beautiful, feminine head on a reachy neck, excellent front, great ribbing, level topline, well developed hind angulation. Sound on the move with excellent profile movement in particular. A lovely bitch who I was pleased to award her 3 CC & went onto win BOB; 2 Hunt’s Ch Carpaccio Blithe Spirit, a very nice b/t bitch, slightly smaller than the winner overall. Pretty head, reachy neck, level topline, & balanced quarters. Moved & held herself really well; 3 Callow’s Garthorne Miss Toffee, this red completed a very lovely trio of bitches. VB (4,1) 1 Hughes’ Minimead Maid To Love for Julidachs, this lovely b/t lady of 8½ years of age, has a feminine head, reachy neck, good front, level topline, balanced rear angulation. A sound, steady mover; 2 Dimon’s Indyvic Enchanted Onyx, another b/t of 7 years of age. Again, nicely made all through, feminine head, reachy neck, well developed front, good ribbing, moved soundly & in super condition; 3 Walker’s Brianolf Mystical Gem for Dorenian.
