First of all I would like to thank The Hound Association for inviting my wife and me to judge at the Houndshow 2016. The hospitality was great. Regarding the Dachshunds Mini Smooth, the quality was in general very high, nearly all had beautiful heads with nice expressions, only few had poor heads, especially one who otherwise was very nice had close to an untypical head, far too short and broad in foreface and the skull was too broad also. I found very few dogs with missing teeth but a few dogs needed to have their teeth cleaned. Most had correct bites and strong jaws. Many had beautiful long elegant necks, nice level toplines and nice tail sets & carriages. Front assembly were nice on most of them, although some were too short in upperarm.  I felt that some of them were a bit exaggerated deep in the chest, I do like to see some clearance under the body. A few were too short in chest and some were too flat in the ribs. Hindquarters in general very nice. Most had dense and nice coats. Nearly all had the correct size and weight, only a few were a little too heavy.  All had nice, happy temperaments. Good sex differences between males and females. Many moved excellent even though I would have preferred the grass shorter. I do feel that movement not the least especially for hunting dogs is of utmost importance and shows the anatomy in motion - free, long, energy saving steps were presented by many dogs today. Of course the right type also has to be there.
MPD (4,1a) 1.Reynolds' Glenariff Next Chapter, beautiful puppy, excellent head and expression, good bite, elegant long neck, excellent strong level topline, good tail set, beautiful front assembly well wrapped around the chest, well developed chest not too deep, well angulated hindquarters, moves free with excellent drive, very nice dapple colour and dense coat, pleases to see that this puppy went Res.
