Thank you for a lovely entry. A variety that I always enjoy judging. As usual I was delighted with my main winners. Type seems to be more uniform once again. Heads have improved as have shoulders. Profile action is very good in the majority but I was slightly disappointed in hind action with very few being totally sound going away. The added bonus of making notes on the individual dog is that you have a record on each dog’s performance on the day. In this entry I found no less than 15 dogs as unacceptable when viewed moving away. I often find getting a friend to move your dog so you can see their performance before you enter the ring will hopefully give you peace of mind on how they are placed. Without exception all were presented in fabulous condition & all carried the correct amount of body weight. Lots of outgoing little personalities on display though I did find some aspects of sportsmanship from some exhibitors unacceptable. Open dog was a joy to judge with nine very good dogs which included no less than seven champions. A real treat to sort out. The minor puppy bitch class that followed was also exciting to sort out. Just one kinky tail in this entry & all mouths where correct
MPD (4,1a) 1 Callow’s Garthorne Gavin, really promising 8 month b/t, full of quality. Loved his head & expression, long well ached neck, good shoulders with tight elbows on very good legs & feet. Long well covered body all in proportion, firm topline, very good quarters, firm with very good length of second thigh. Ultra sound in front which is where he scored over 2, looks good in profile with a lovely neck carriage which he uses to project himself so well; 2 Andison & Peel’s Bronia Jeremias, another extremely promising b/t baby, loved his head & expression too, good neck, plenty of forechest, fantastic legs & feet, very good body, a shade lower to ground than 1, well made behind with neat firm parallel hocks, not as precise coming towards me on the day as 1 but ultra sound going away. Looks good in profile covering some ground in style; 3 Coxon’s D’Arisca Ambreglo Showers. PD (2) A. JD (1) 1 Philip’s Stargang Devil-May-Care of Robinswood, very good overall picture especially in profile. 16 month red, good houndy head, strong jaws, well arched neck, front fits well with plenty of forechest, very good legs & feet. Ribbing extends well back, short thick loins, balanced quarters, tail correctly set & carried. Ultra sound coming & going & reaches & extends so well in profile. Confident showman. ND (0). PGD (3,1) 1 Coxon’s D’Arisca Danish Diplomat, such an outgoing personality which was a delight to see. 18 month red, fabulous head & dark almond eye, ears correctly set & carried, long elegant neck which he uses so well on the move, very good shoulders with tight neat fitting elbows. Ribbing extends well back with correct top & underlines. Good firm loins that lead into well made neat quarters. Ultra sound coming & going & really looks the part in profile. A real showman who is full of quality, breed type & promise for bigger things; 2 Philips’ Arbennik St Thomas of Robinswood, 3 years b/t. Loved his head & kind expression, ample neck leading into very good shoulders, well bodied with very good ribbing, short loins, tail correctly set & carried, firm quarters with enough angulation. Not as precise as 1 coming & going & could open his gait more in profile. In gleaming coat & condition. LD (5,2) 1 Roberts’ Denver Darling Doctor Who, quality overall picture, gorgeous head & expression, dark points & lovely dark almond shaped eyes, plenty of neck, very good front & shoulders, breast bone fits neatly & extends well back, good length of body which is all in proportion with correct height to length ratios. Firm quarters with enough angulation. Ultra sound in front & really moves out in profile covering the ground in great style. This 2 years s/red really appeals for good old fashioned values that could be valuable to many bitches. Typical & has style with plenty of arrogance that makes you look twice; 2 Protheroe’s Royalmaple Anky Panky, 2 years red who is more compact with less exaggeration throughout which some may prefer, good houndy head with jet black points, well muscled neck, front is well made with good tight elbows on super legs & feet. Very good body & ribbing with correct top & underlines, well angulated behind with plenty of length in second thigh. Ultra sound up & down & projects himself well in profile. First class coat & condition & such a great showman; 3 Williams’ Wilmerella Well’s Fargo. OD (9) This class was certainly worth the wait. Quality in everyone & each can offer many virtues to the breed. It really was a case of ‘the moment in time’ as to how I placed them. Even Ch Kathington Coeur De Lion at just short of his 9th birthday & one I have previously awarded a RCC to can still hold his own in this company, a great credit to his owner. The first three on the day where quite exceptional. 1 CC & BOB, Barrett’s Ch Ayseebee Rumour Has It, 2 years b/t, the overall package is there where everything flows & fits so neatly with little exaggeration. Very good head & expression, strong underjaw, correct ratios from muzzle to skull, dark almond shaped eyes, well arched mobile neck, copy book shoulders & angles, neat fitting front with plenty of breast bone, lovely legs & tight bunchy feet. Super body & ribbing with cast iron topline. Short firm loins leading into well angulated quarters with short neat parallel hocks that are firm. Ultra sound coming & going & in profile covers the ground effortlessly in style. Great temperament & outgoing personality on show with the eagerness to please. Really loved him, completely filling my eye every time I looked at him. A new one to me but one I won’t forget; 2 RCC, Coxon’s Ch Distinctly So D’Arisca, another young man who appealed for so many reasons & gave 1 a run for his money. Your hands really flow going over him on the table, loved his head & expression, very good shoulders & layback, excels in front construction. Shade longer throughout than 1 but all in proportion. Good body & ribbing with correct top & underlines, thick loins that lead into really lovely quarters, so well muscled & angulated. Another ultra sound coming & going, looking the part in profile with correct reach in front & follow through from behind which is where he scored over 3. Another great showman who shouts quality throughout; 3 Hunt’s Ch Carpaccio Casablanca.
MPB (9,4) 1 BP & BPIS, Mitchell’s Bronia Jaunita, absolutely stunning 7 months b/t, neat, stylish & so well made. Lovely feminine head & expression, long well arched neck leading into fabulous shoulders, everything fits so well, plenty of forechest that fits so well on lovely legs & feet, very good body & ribbing, short loins lead into well angulated quarters with short neat hocks that even at this age are parallel. Ultra sound coming & going especially for one so young, projects herself well in profile clearly displaying correct reach & follow through, beautiful type in stunning condition; 2 Price’s Samlane Desdemona, another 7 month old baby that’s so full of promise, really lovely head & expression with dark points throughout, well arched neck leading into very good shoulders, her angles are so correct even at this age. Well made front with plenty of width, very good ribbing with a good firm backline, tail correctly set & carried, well angulated quarters with correct length of second thigh. Ultra sound coming towards me though not as precise as 1 today going away which I’m sure she will be. Without doubt will do very well & one that also appealed greatly; 3 Coxon’s D’Arisca Ambreglo April Bloom. PB (6,2) 1 B Jaunita; 2 Anderson & Peel’s Clentry Knockando, 6 months b/t, beautiful type & ultra-feminine, so well made throughout & so full of promise. Lovely head & expression with lovely dark almond eyes, plenty of neck leading into very good shoulders, neatest of feet, very good body & ribbing for age, short loins, well made quarters with plenty of angulation on neat firm hocks. Ultra sound coming & going & goes well in profile keeping an attractive picture. Certainly ran 1 very close just being a shade lower to ground. One I liked very much; 3 Protheroe’s Formula Uspema Ginger at Royalmaple. JB (2,1) 1 Hunt’s Carpaccio Blithe Spirit, stylish 17 months b/t, good head & expression, strong underjaw, good neck that leads into very good shoulders, tight elbows on good legs & feet, plenty of forechest that fits correctly with enough width throughout. Good ribbing that extends well back with correct top & underlines. Short compact loins lead into well made quarters with neat firm hocks. Ultra sound up & down & keeps a lovely outline in profile with a lovely head carriage that draws your eye. Lovely quality girl; 2 Oddie’s Riowood Regina, lovely type 15 month red with a shade more exaggeration throughout compared to 1, very good head & expression, correct ratios from muzzle to skull, long well arched neck, good shoulders with correct layback, plenty of forechest that fits so neatly on good legs & feet. Good well sprung ribbing, shade longer in loins than1, tail correctly set & carried. First class hind angulation with well bent stifles. Not as precise as 1 up & down today but really pulls all the stops out in profile & really covers some ground in style. So well muscled & fit. NB (1) 1 Blackburn’s Stargang Fallen Angel, elegant 16 month red who shows off her many virtues so well, lovely head & dark almond eye, ears correctly set, long well arched neck with very good shoulders, plenty of forechest on very good legs & feet, good body & well sprung ribbing, thick well muscled loins, balanced quarters with strong firm hocks. Ultra sound in front, really strides out in profile looking elegant & balanced. Another really fit well muscled youngster. PGB (8,2) 1 Coxon’s D’Arisca Danish Delicacy, really fell for this 2 years red, so feminine & full of quality, loved her head & expression with dark points & correct oval shaped eyes, well arched neck which she uses so well on the move, copy book shoulders & angles with tight elbows & correct length of upper arm. Prominent keel that extends well back giving the desired underline. Solid topline with tail correctly set & carried. Loved her quarters with neat little hocks that are firm & parallel, ultra sound coming & going looking a picture in profile covering the ground in great style. Without doubt one I liked very much & ran the top winners so close. Delightful; 2 McLennan’s Russteck Currant Bun at Cheguevar, beautiful type 20 months b/t, shade lower to ground than 1 but certainly in proportion. Lovely head & feminine outlook, long firm well muscled neck, very good shoulders, tight elbows on very good legs & feet. Well sprung ribbing, shade longer in loin than 1, enough angulation behind that is balanced on firm hocks. Ultra sound coming & going keeping a good outline at all times in profile. Super condition throughout both muscular & coat; 3 Burke & Manston’s Radclyffe Zathera. LB (7,2) 1 RCC, Russell’s Russteck Plum Duff, top drawer 2 years b/t. Really lovely to look at & your hands just flow when you go over her on the table. Beautiful head & expression, lovely dark almond shaped eye, elegant well arched neck leading into very good shoulders, correct length of upper arm with tight elbows on fabulous legs & feet. Plenty of chest & width throughout. Correct top & underlines on well sprung ribbing. Beautiful height to length ratios. Loins are short & firm. Tail correctly set & carried at all times. Enough angulation on short firm hocks. Totally parallel when viewed from behind at all times. So sound out & back & looks a picture of power & elegance on the move covering the ground in great style. Typical type, has so much going for her & with luck will go onto bigger things, lovely; 2 Kerry’s Kireton Cici, very similar in type & conformation of 1. Lovely head & eye, ample neck leading into very good shoulders. Good bone on really super feet so tightly bunched. Very good ribbing on a firm backline with good short thick loins. Enough angulation behind on firm well muscled hocks, certainly no sign of weakness here. Ultra sound coming & going keeping a beautiful outline in profile. When it came to the crunch she just wasn’t opening her gait in the same style as 1 today but it was a close call. Without doubt deserves to be around the top awards & will always be a strong contender; 3 Herrington’s Kathington Chance Be A Lady. OB (5,2) 1 CC, Blackburn-Bennett’s Stargang Star Anise, simply stunning & totally fills my eye, so balanced with everything about her flowing & fitting so neatly. So elegant & feminine throughout. Loved her beautiful head & expression, long well arched neck that leads into shoulders with correct angles, in fact you don’t need to touch them to see they are correct. Plenty of fore chest & width on super legs & feet, certainly now sign of wrinkle. Very good body & well sprung ribbing with correct top & underlines. Short thick loins that lead into very good hindquarters & angulation. Her hocks are strong, neat & parallel at all times. Ultra sound up & down & in profile her correct reach & tremendous follow through from behind is an object lesson on Dachshund gait. A pure picture of soundness. Her second CC with many more to come I’m sure; 2 Callow’s Garthorne Miss Toffee, 4 years s/red, beautiful type & so lovely to go over, shorter coupled throughout than 1, very good head & expression with the darkest of points & eyes, enough neck that leads into very good shoulders, good keel that extends well back into a correct underline. Correct topline & super ribbing, strong loins with tail correctly set & carried. So well made behind with good length of second thigh & neat firm hocks. Very sound coming & going & keeps a lovely overall outline in profile. Just felt that she could have opened her gait a touch more today which I’m sure as her construction suggests she can do. Close up to the bigger things & I’m sure she will get there. Quality; 3 Williams’ Ch Manacas Amber Couer at Wilmerella.
