Special Yearling Bitch (5 Entries) Abs: 0 Post Graduate Bitch (11 Entries) Abs: 1 Limit Bitch (8 Entries) Abs: 3 Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge a lovely entry of this variety of Dachshunds. I was very pleased to see my Best of Breed go Best in Show! The variety is numerically strong and I was surprised to see a number of exhibits with missing lower incisors, and one level, bordering on undershot, bite. Most were confident and happy, those that were clearly nervous were placed accordingly. Veteran Dog or Bitch – 4 (0) 1st Kent’s Barratini Jeeves at Lokmadi Lovely class of Veterans to start the day, headed by this 10 year old showman, strutting his stuff and wagging his tail the whole time, clearly enjoying his time in the spotlight. Moderate all through, he is well ribbed and ultra sound on the move, still in super condition. 2nd Coxon’s D’Arisca Damsel in a Dress Close decision between 1 and 2. This 7 year old elegant, black and tan bitch presented a lovely profile on the go round, with strong back action and everything in the right place. Pretty head, good angles and another one still in fine fettle. 3rd Cumberland’s Cumberland Mumysami Raluch ShCM
Minor Puppy Dog – 5 (1) 1st Shutt’s Donnadoon Moon and Stars Shaded red with good ground clearance, super front and feet and enough ribbing. This boy has a strong head and neck with a good layback of shoulder, giving him a decent length of stride, when eventually settled on the move. Confident and naughty, as a puppy should be! 2nd Protheroe’s Royal Maple Fiddlesticks Lovely puppy who was presented in gleaming condition. Balanced profile outline with correct height to length ratio. Masculine head, beautiful front without being overdone, strong hocks and sound on the move. Unfortunately he is still regaining his confidence after a recent bad experience. 3rd Hyslop’s Zilveraat Gold Fink
Puppy Dog – 3 (0) 1st Andison & Peel’s Clentry Knock Em Dead Norman Well bodied black and tan that is well off for bone and has a classic, masculine head. Pleasing to handle on the table, with moderate angles and sound both ways, keeping his shape on the move. Still carrying a little bit of puppy fat over his shoulders. 2nd Shutt’s Melriding Capatain Cook of Donnadoon Brindle of lighter type. Well defined head with an expressive eye, well developed front, short coupled with ribs carried well back, he looked a picture stood. Sound on the move, topline not yet as settled as 1st. 3rd Hyslop’s Zilveraat Gold Fink
Junior Dog – 4 (2) 1st Cumberlands Mumysami Cliacalicious for Yorami Red dog, up to size with a super head and neck and good ground clearance. Enough front, ribs extending well back, strong teeth, good bite and nice, tight feet. Sound on the move and kept it together to gain the first place. 2nd Hamer’s Ambershirl The Sorcerer Finer all through, this shaded red presented a pleasing outline with compact proportions and short, strong loin. Just a bit more erratic on the move than the first.
Special Yearling Dog 1 (0) 1st Melbourne’s Ambreglo Storm at Melriding Smart little black and tan in good condition. Enough ground clearance, nothing overdone. Scores in energetic, sound movement and elegant, flowing outline. Sound both front and rear.
Post Graduate Dog 3 (2) 1st Cumberland’s Mumysami Run Forrest Run Chocolate and tan, upstanding dog with leg length that allowed him to stride out freely. Enough angulation and well muscled, he moved soundly and kept a solid outline, just needs a bit more confidence.
Limit Dog 5 (4) 1st Fieke’s Lustrum Cushendall Black and tan dog, everything in the right place which is reflected in his sound, busy movement with good width and steady hocks. Pleasing to go over on the table with super shoulders, good angles and a lovely soft expression.
Open Dog 4 (1) A lovely class of quality males, thank you for bringing them 1st CC, Best of Breed and Best in Show - Paget & Carroll’s CH Marvale Up With The Lark Glorious young male who excels in type, condition, angulation and substance. To top it all he moves soundly, true and energetic, and looking like he could go all day. His super angles, good length of ribbing and strong hocks keep his shape on the move, the more he moved, the better he looked. 2nd and Reserve CC - Coxon’s CH Distinctly So D’Arisca Unlucky to meet the first in such good form this red is another quality male, so well made and elegant, correct head proportions and presenting a beautiful outline with such sound and steady movement. Difficult decision, the first just put that bit more in on the go round. 3rd Melbourne’s D’Arisca Flaunt it at Melriding
Minor Puppy Bitch 5 (1) 1st Kent’s Lokmadi Magic Dragon Clear red of lovely make and shape. Feminine, with bone and substance. She has a pretty head and correct eye, well filled front, good spring to her ribs that are carried well back. She moves absolutely sound and true, with a tail that never stops wagging. 2nd Shutt’s Donadoon Carolina Moon Rangier, elegant girl who did not want to co-operate on the move. Slightly higher and longer than the first but still in proportion and pleasing to go over with correct angulation and super ribbing. She showed enough of her sound movement in flashes, to gain the 2nd place. 3rd Barr’s Wolferlow Justina of Ellaness
Puppy Bitch 9 (4) 1st and Best Puppy Protheroe’s Picollo Teckel Never Say Never at Royalmaple Beautiful black and tan with attitude to spare, showed her socks off to win this class. Feminine with workmanlike attributes, she is super smooth on the move, eating the ground up and keeping her shape with true front and rear movement and holding a strong top and underline. She is equally pleasing on the table with nothing overdone and flowing lines from her head through an elegant, strong neck into well laid back shoulders that afford her that lovely reach on the move, good ribbing and finished off with moderate rear angulation and parallel hocks. Lovely puppy. 2nd Kent’s Lokmadi Magic Dragon 3rd Melbourne’s Melriding Sea Infanta
Junior Bitch 11 (5) 1st Melbourne, Pagett & Carroll’s Siouxline Goldilocks of Melriding Red bitch in full bloom. Super front, sturdy feet, elegant neck and the prettiest of heads with correct eye. Well angulated both ends which contributes to her super movement – moved like a train, keeping a strong outline. 2nd Thomson’s Stargang Wagtail For Zilveraat Bigger girl of rangier type, retaining elegance alongside her bone and substance. Good ground clearance, excellent ribbing and enough angulation, she presents a well balanced outline both standing and on the move. When settled she moved with energy and style. 3rd Andison & Peel’s Clentry Gooseberry
Special Yearling Bitch 5 (0) 1st Dyer & Oddie’s Riowood Tiger Socks Elegant brindle bitch of super proportions. All of a piece with a well balanced, strong head with arrogant expression, long neck flowing into well laid shoulders, well ribbed back with a sturdy back end. Moves true and steady, keeping a good outline. 2nd Thomson’s Stargang Wagtail For Zilveraat
Post Graduate Bitch 12 (2) 1st Hutching’s Stargang Hot Cross Bun For Collidach Feminine, extrovert and confident brindle with a lot to like. Pretty head, correct eye shape and beautiful neck. Deep, well filled front and good length of ribbing to support her elegant frame. She is well angled which shows in her energetic and sound movement which is where she excels, keeping her outline and striding out well. 2nd Protheroe’s Royalmaple Daphne Blake Tough decision between the first two, this one not putting quite as much in on the move as the 1st but another with a lot to like. Red of good proportions with a classic head and eye. Elegant neck and more ground clearance than the first. In super condition with strong ribbing, enough front and correct angles both ends. Another good mover who kept her shape on the go round. 3rd Andison & Peel’s Clentry Knockando
Limit Bitch 8 (3) 1st and CC Melbourne, Carroll & Pagett’s Donnadoon Sea Vermillion at Marvale Such pleasing proportions on this gorgeous bitch who is presented in tip top condition. Everything about her is quality, from her sweet head, through her flowing lines and to complete the picture she moves with verve and purpose, never faltering and keeping her shape with good width both front and back. 2nd Worswick’s Dollyharp Sonata Unlucky to meet 1st in such great form, this is another lovely bitch who is moderate all through, sound on the move and keeping her shape. She is pleasing to handle on the table, with everything in the right place, good angles, resulting in a well balanced picture both standing and moving. 3rd Shutt’s Donnadoon Dream Dust
Open Bitch 7 (2) 1st and Reserve CC Coxon’s D’Arisca Danish Delicacy Loved the proportions on this pretty red who was presented in great condition. She excels in angulation and drive on the move, not overdone in any way, she has enough of everything and strides out freely, keeping her shape and absolutely parallel both ways. Very close decision for the CC. 2nd Hunt’s Carpaccio Midnight Lace Shaded red unlucky to meet the winner. Different type to 1st, still with correct proportions but not quite as scopy on the move, she is a happy girl with a pretty head and lovely angles, well sprung ribs that support her strong topline and true, sound movement. Presented in gleaming condition. 3rd Kent’s Lokmadi Goodnight Irene JW
