Firstly I would like to thank the Officers and Committee for asking me to judge the Standard Long Haired and Miniature Smooth Dachshunds at their Championship show. I had a nice entry of quality standard longs which made some decisions hard and then a superb entry of miniature smooths to judge. Thank you to all of the exhibitors that braved the cold and gave me the opportunity of judging their dogs.

My only criticism is that there are now some mini smooths that have a lack of rear angulation which is leading to poor rear movement, and pinning in feet. There were a few with teeth that could have done with a clean – but on the whole I was pleased.

Chocolate and tan boy – lovely disposition. Lovely front and tight feet. Good length of ribbing – nice rear angulation – moved well for a 7month old pup

12 month old chocolate boy. Taller on the leg than 1 – nice front and length of rib. Moved with purpose.

Black and tan – nice length, good prominent front with good depth of keel. Good length of rib and angulation. Covered the ground well.

2. IZIA KLARA DIFINO (IMP SVN) - MR L J BEACH

Red dog of larger proportion. Nice tight feet, good front and lovely almond eye. Good rear angulation – moved with drive.

Black and tan, higher tail set than 1. Nice front and length of rib. Good rear angulation and covered the ground well with drive.

Super black and tan bitch. Lovely head and eye, super expressive young lady. Lovely tight feet and good front. Good length of ribbing and good rear angulation allowing her to move with purpose. RBB, BP

2. MORAGDEN DIZZY LIZZY AT ONADAIRE - MRS L A DEAR

Lovely red bitch. Well covered correct body. Lovely front, tight feet, nice depth of keel and length of rib. Correct eye shape with good pigment. Moved with drive covering the ground well – close decision.

Red bitch, lovely head and expression. Good eye and length of neck flowing into correctly placed shoulders. Good scissor bite with nice tight feet. Good drive – fit for purpose.

2. ISABELLA MADE FOR MERRYLINE - MRS A P MERRY

Darker shaded red bitch, of similar type to 1. Lovely soft expression, moved with purpose around the ring – just preferred the attitude of 1.

Red bitch –good length of rib, lovely length of neck, lovely almond eye and correct ear set. Good rear angulation moved well – but was not happy in the cold.
