PD (3) 1 McLennan’s Chequevar Paddington Bear promising red of good make and shape. Pleasing head, lovely eyes & ears, muzzle needs to fill out a bit, sufficient neck, well sprung ribs, decent neck, level back but would prefer a more definite rise over the loin, good muscle tone and even stepping in action. 2 Kay’s Zilveraat Altered Carbon at Locklip this b/t is just over the 6 months and still very much the baby. He has a good head shape, lovely eyes size, colour and expression, well placed ears with ample reach of neck, his backline appeals and he has good feet. Whilst his side action is pleasing to the eyes, he needs to strengthen in hock. Lovely coat condition. I prefer his head proportions to that of the winner but his eye is a tad on the full side for me which detracted from his expression. He is a credit in body, ribbing, muscle tone and coat condition and is so co-operative with his handler. Whilst he match the winner in profile action I felt the Bear was that fraction truer when fore viewed. 3 Burnett’s Zoebear’s Watchman.
JD (3) 1st & Res CC Anderson & Watt’s Bronia Macario this b/t was initially a bit of a problem as he was hardly co-operative with his handler. Good to handle on the table, well balanced head, eye could be a tad smaller but the colour is good and dark. Lovely reach of neck, ribs carry well back to a short loin which gives him that compact look. He is well coated and muscled and once settle did enough here to win the class. In the challenge he had a different handler and here he really looked the part, outgoing and confident and I felt he was a worthy Res CC winner. 2 Mason’s Teckletown Something Magic JW this b/t was a credit in coat and condition. Good skull, not quite the weight in foreface that I like, well placed ears, good neck, well ribbed but somewhat long in loi which detracts from the overall picture. He is a bit apprehensive when being table handled and gives one that worried look! Side action fine but moving rather close behind. 3 Shutt’s Donnadoon Dusk Till Dawn. PDG (3,1) 1st C. Paddington Bear 2 Hyslop’s Zilveraat Goldfink this red has much charm with a really good head shape, skull/muzzle balance, eyes and expression. Excellent reach of neck, firm back and good croup. In stunning coat and so well muscled hindquarters. Looked like he would be a free striding mover but he was pulling to one side most of the time which held him back. Could lose a little weight to his advantage.
LD (3) 1 Fieke’s Lustrum Cushendall lots to like in this b/t. Nice size, so well ribbed, short loin, excellent hind angulation with firm hocks and good feet. His head handles well, the eyes are a good shape, colour and quite expressive. I would just like that shade more length in neck to finish the picture. He was the steadiest mover in this class so won the red card. 2nd Shutt’s Melriding Captain Cook of Donnadoon at first I thought this would be my class winner as he has such appeal on the stack. Has such a good neck which he uses to enhance his outline appeal. His head handles well, very good eyes and expression, smooth backline and he is well muscled and angulated aft. Regrettably much too erratic on the move to do justice to his construction. 3 Luke’s Lokmadi Frederick
OD (3/2) 1st & CC Mitchell’s Ch Bronia Biaggio so much to admire in this beautifully schooled, conditioned and presented b/t. Excellent size, pleasing head, eyes and expression, so well bodied and muscled, gleaming jacket, and he strode around the ring on a loose lead with such purpose and steadiness. I had no hesitation in awarding him what is, I believe, his 8th CC.
Spec. Beg D (1) 1st T. Something Magic.
PB (7/1) 1st CC & BOB Metcalfe-Bilgin’s Metadale Legacy To The Lark what a handful this beautiful red bitch was!! A delight to go over on the table, stunning head properties, eyes and expression, beautifully arched neck, so well ribbed with a well defined sternum, firm elbows and eye catching outline when she can stand still long enough for one to appreciate it! One has to be patient with her but once settled to move she is smooth striding, balanced with lovely reach fore and aft. Her coat shone, the eyes sparkled and she had to win despite her youth. I am told this is her 3rd CC at 9 months! Proved a real madam in the Group ring whilst all around played it cool and stood like statues she was fiddling, twisting and giving her handler a rough time. I will excuse it as puppiness but if she can be trained to put her best foot forward her crown should be a formality. 2 Halshall’s Shelshall All About Love another red which I liked so much as she too has style and appeal especially in head and expression. She is well balanced in length/height ratios, with sufficient neck, nice ribbing and a very good bend of stifle. Her jacket gleamed and she moves OK in profile but needs to settle in front. 3 Ashton’s Zobear’s Black Rose.
JB (8/1) Headed by two b/t’s which are eye catching on the stack and show bags of promise, but which were hard to seperate. In head I preferred the winner in eye size and expression whereas I felt that Tea Cake had the better weighted muzzle for her skull. They are nicely balanced in construction and were both in immaculately presented coat which shone with well being. When posed they were almost a match pair for appeal in neck and outline. Whilst both are positive profile movers I just edged the winner as being steadier in front when coming towards me.1 Mason’s Teckletown Youre The One. 2 Russell’s Russteck Tea Cake 3rd Stuart’s Tsenzura Iz Mishkinogo Dom (Imp Rus)
PGB (10/2) 1 Morris & Waddell’s Bronia Sancia an ultra feminine package which scores in head balance, strong muzzle, beautiful eyes and expression and oozes charm in expression. Could perhaps have a tad longer neck, but the body is well shaped, the back level and there is that hint of rise over the loin to a smoothly round croup. Moved out with a positive step and came over as one very happy little person. 2 Kent’s Lokmadi Magic Dragon this red has so much to admire but she is just not sufficiently outgoing which is reflected in her somewhat sombre expression. She is a lovely size, has well weighted bone, has a better neck than the winner and on the move she shows good reach and drive. Then on the stack she becomes a bit of a shrinking violet. 3 Barr’s Walferlow Justina of Ellaness.
LB (7,1) 1 Melbourne, Pagett & Carroll’s Melriding Sea Infanta won here as she had the best head shape, dark oval eyes, correct ears and such a lovely expression. She is well constructed, her backline could tighten up a touch when standing and on the move, but her overall quality and sheer breed type won the day. I feel that is another which would look so much better if she was a little more outgoing. 2 Herrington’s Kathington Just By Chance JW my notes say a delightful red which is bound to be title bound. Her construction is so good and her side action as she circles the ring confirms just how well made she is. Her head is very pleasing, it is balanced with a well weighted foreface and good ears. I just preferred the eyes of the winner and her little bit tighter front action. 3 Oddie’s Riowood Tiger Socks.
OB (3,1) 1st & Res CC Melbourne, Pagett & Carroll’s Siouxline Goldilocks of Melriding, what a quality bitch this very nice red is. Such a pretty headpiece with a super expression. She has a good body, the ribs carry well back, the loin has a smidgeon of a rise and the croup is well rounded with upper thighs which are muscled. In super coat condition she was light footed as she circled the ring. 2 Kent’s Lokmadi Goodnight Irrene JW such a sweet expression on this b/t. Nice head piece, good length proportions, lovely eyes and ears, just about enough reach of neck, lovely underline and good angulation both ends. She moves easily around the ring but was not so positive in front when coming towards me as Goldilocks.
VB (1) 1st & BV Melbourne’s Ch Golden Algonquinette of Melriding this absolutely delightful red pensioner could show many of the youngsters just how to move. Shapely, all quality in head and expression, eyes perhaps now a shade full but they are still so full of life and happiness. I thought her a joy to behold so was thrilled post judging when her owner told me I had awarded her one of CCs’.
Spec. Beg B (3) 1st & Spec. Beg.G2 T. Youre The One. 2 Hitchison’s Russteck A Piece of Cake a nicely angulated b/t with a pleasing head, well shaped eyes, enough chin and level backline. She is a bit lacking in width in chest but is well angulated both ends and was in sparkling coat. 3 Cuthbertson’s Mariettz Margo
