I would like to thank the society for inviting me to judge at their Championship show, which I was honoured to accept. This show was postponed from 2020 due to the covid19 pandemic, and I would like to commend the secretary and her committee for all the hard work it must have taken, so that the show could take place. Thank you to all exhibitors for their entry, allowing me to assess some beautiful examples of the breed and finally to my steward, Lyndsey, who kept the ring running smoothly and efficiently. I found all temperaments to be good and there were no nervous or aggressive exhibits, all appeared healthy in good physical condition with a correct scissor bite, although a few exhibits` teeth needed cleaning and nails a good trim. My top winners were beautiful examples of the breed and what I hope and look for when I judge dachshunds, and in some classes, I was spoilt for choice and splitting hairs when it came to deciding on places and have no doubt, they will change places in the future.

Vet (4,2) 1 Cumberland`s Mumysami Miss Solitaire:- 7yr old B/T bitch with a lovely temperament, correct conical head with a kind expression, and a dark almond shaped eye. Her front and hind quarters are well constructed and angulated with a prominent fore chest, good spring of rib and a broad well-developed rump. She is well balanced and moved with plenty of enthusiasm maintaining her top line showing reach and drive, happily wagging her tail and was presented in good coat. B.V 2 Cumberland`s Whirlygig Wottatodoo At Mumysami:- From the same kennel as 1st, B/T 9yr old bitch who is heavier boned all through and slightly more exaggerated in front and rear construction. She has a feminine, houndy and conical shaped head with a dark almond eye and kind expression. Similar comments apply as 1st. she moved steadily around the ring and was presented in lovely condition.

MPD (3,1) 1 Jennings, Marvale Northern Cardinal At Jenivon:- A lovely 6mth old shaded red baby at his first show. He has a masculine houndy conical head, dark almond shaped eye and his ears are well set on and correct in length. He has a good reach of neck, with a fore chest that has good width through and a nice length of keel. He has a nice lay back of shoulder, good spring of rib and a short loin. His hind quarters are broad and well developed, with a nice turn of stifle and `hammy` thighs that have width and depth.

He has lovely bone and was sympathetically handled to move soundly and steadily around the ring elbows neatly in and was true moving out and back and got the job done. He is a lovely, raw baby who is nicely balanced and has the foundations in place to enable him to grow and mature into in the future. 2 Protheroe`s, Ginco Mikey Boots By Royalmaple:- 7mth B/T finer boned than 1st head, and front and hind quarters are okay, moved confidently around the ring, rather proud of his tail at the moment, hopefully it will settle as he matures. He is a raw youngster who needs to mature and strengthen and has time to do so. On the day, I preferred the overall construction, bone and balanced outline of 1st.

PD 1 Melbourne, Pagett and Carroll`s, Melriding Cloak And Dagger:- 11mth B/T and what a lovely, balanced example of the breed he is. He has a masculine, `houndy` head that is conical in shape, a lovely kind and dark almond shaped eye and a strong jaw. He has a good reach of neck, a prominent well filled oval thorax and a good length of keel. His shoulders are nicely laid back, ribs are well sprung and are carried well back to a strong short loin. His hind quarters are well angulated, broad and muscled, with a good bend of stifle and a well-developed thigh that has depth and width. He stands on good bone and neat feet and moved easily around the ring holding his top line, showing reach and drive, his elbows neatly tucked in by his side and was true moving out and back. He presents a lovely balanced outline with everything correctly fitting together. Pleased to award him B.P.D and B.P.I.B. 2 Mason`s, Teckeltown Master Piece: - another lovely 7mth shaded red puppy, lots to like about him and some comments given to 1st apply here. He has a correct conical head and an almond eye, front and hind quarters are well constructed and angulated, with a good length and spring of rib. He moved with confidence and enthusiasm in profile, holding his top line and was true moving out and back.

JD (1) 1st:- 15mth shaded red with a correct head and eye front and hind construction okay He was a little unsure of himself on the move today, but kept going forward and completed the job. Hopefully will become more confident with maturity.

PGD (3,1) 1 Scott`s, Rothdax In The Nick Of Time:- 4yr old B/T who has a conical head shape with a slightly round, but kind eye, and expression His front and hind quarters are fairly well constructed and angled, but I would prefer more length of rib and bend of stifle. He moved well in profile maintaining his top line and was presented in good condition with a lovely shinny coat. 2 Owen`s, Gwendary Pickpocket:- 2yr old shaded red finer in bone and longer cast than 1st. Would prefer more width and depth in fore chest, and more angulation in front and hind quarters. He moved out steadily around the ring but appeared loose in elbows when moving out and back.

LD (6,1) 1 Andison And Peel`s, Clentry Donnie Darco:- B/T male caught my eye on entering the ring. He is nicely balanced in profile with good bone and not exaggerated in any way. He has a strong and masculine correct shaped head and eye and a good length and arch of neck. His front and hind quarters are nicely constructed and angulated, with a well filled oval fore chest through to a good length of keel and well laid back shoulder. His ribs are well sprung and are carried well back to a short strong loin with his underline gently merging into his abdomen to balance with his top line. His hind quarters are broad and well developed, with good bend of stifle and thighs, that have depth and width. He moved in profile with plenty of reach and drive holding his top line and was true out and back. Close up to top awards in challenge. 2 Jennings, Duddondax Judge Jude For Jenivon:- Shaded red mature male, lovely balanced profile, correct shaped head and eye, well-constructed and angled front and hind quarters, prominent well filled oval fore chest, good spring and length of rib with a short, strong loin. He moved soundly in all directions, but on the day preferred the movement of 1st. 3 Mason`s, Teckeltown Something Magic J.W.

OD 1st Pagett And Carroll`s, Metadale Lark Ascending:- Mature shaded red who caught my eye as soon as he entered the ring. His head is correct in shape and proportions, is `houndy`and masculine without being coarse, with a strong under jaw, a lovely dark almond shaped eye. His front and hind quarters are well angulated and constructed with a prominent, well filled oval fore chest that has good width and length to keel. His ribs are well sprung and carried well back to a short and strong loin enabling his underline to gently merge into his abdomen and balance with his top line. His hind quarters are broad and well-muscled, with a good bend of stifle and `hammy` thighs that have width and depth. All of this enables him to move around the ring with a free and easy stride showing reach and drive, elbows tucked in maintaining his top line and was true and parallel moving out and back. He has good bone, is beautifully constructed with a lovely balanced outline, was presented in tip top condition and has everything I look for in a dachshund. Pleased to award him D.C.C and B.O.B and later learned he was awarded B.I.S. Congratulations. 2 Blackburn-Bennett`s, Stargang Barracuda:- Another lovely balanced and well-constructed example of this breed. He has a masculine, conical head, strong jaw with a dark almond eye. His fore quarters are well constructed he has a prominent oval fore chest, good spring and length of rib and a short, strong loin. His hind quarters are broad and well developed with a good bend of stifle and `hammy` thighs that have width and depth. Moved well in profile showing reach and drive and was true on the out and back. He has good bone and was presented in lovely condition with everything fitting together to give a lovely balanced picture. R.D.C.C.

3 Kent`s, Lokmadi Sand Dollar.

MPB (2,1) 1 Herald`s, Winterfield Sweet Charity:- 7mth old shaded red, but a very raw and immature baby, which is not that unusual at this age. She appeared to be a little apprehensive when moving around the ring, but was sympathetically handled and kept moving steadily forward to ensure she had a positive experience in the show ring. She needs to mature and strengthen and has time on her side to do this.

PB (4,1) 1ST Mitchell`s, Bronia Antonella:- 11mth shaded red young bitch, so beautifully constructed with lovely flowing lines that it was a pleasure to go over here. She has a strong, feminine `houndy` head, a dark, kind almond eye and a deep muzzle and strong jaw She has a good length of neck that is nicely arched and flows into a prominent, oval fore chest that has good width and depth through and a good length of keel. Her shoulder is nicely laid back, ribs are well sprung and are carried well back into a short, strong loin so that her under line balances with her top line. Her hind quarters are broad and well developed, good bend to stifle and a lovely `hammy` thigh that has width and depth. She stands on good bone with neat feet and used all of these attributes to move with a free and easy stride, elbows tucked in by her side, maintaining her top line and was true moving out and back. She is beautifully constructed; nothing is exaggerated with everything fitting together to create a lovely balanced picture. Pleased to award her the R.B.C.C. 2 Jennings, Warburtons Princess Poppet:- 10mth old B/T bitch, not as mature as 1st but lots to like. She has a correct head and kind expression with a dark almond eye. Her front and hind quarters are fairly well constructed and angulated, fore chest is prominent, with a good length and spring of rib and a broad, and well developed rump. She moved around the ring showing good reach and drive holding her top line and was true moving out and back. 3 Barr`s, Heavens Above.

JB (5,1) 1 Mason`s, Teckel Town Lady In Red:- A shaded red 13mth old bitch, is a nice make and shape with lots to like. She has a correct head and eye shape, good arch and reach of neck with a prominent oval fore chest, shoulders are well laid back with a good length and spring of rib and a short and strong loin. Her hind quarters are broad and well developed with a good turn of stifle and a well-developed thigh that has good width and depth. She moved well around the ring, showing forward reach and rear drive and parallel moving out and back. 2 Halsall`s, Shelsall Midnight Mystique:- A 14mth old black and tan, that is a nicely balanced and constructed bitch, but slightly more exaggerated and heavier in type than 1st. However, many of the same comments regarding construction and movement apply to her as 1st, on the day I preferred the better ground clearance in front of the 1st. 3 Williams, Wilmerella Twiglet.

YB (7,1) 1st Blackburn-Bennett`s, Stargang Cherry Bomb:- Another quality bitch, full of breed type, an eye catching clear red and is beautifully constructed and balanced. She has a `houndy`, feminine head that is correct in shape and proportion, a dark almond eye and a strong jaw and a good length and slightly arched neck. Her front and hind quarters are well constructed. She has a prominent and well defined oval fore chest that is well filled in, and width through to a good length of keel. Her shoulder is well laid back and she has a good length and spring of rib which carries well back to a short and strong loin. Her hind quarters balance the front, and have good angulation, are broad and well developed with a good bend of stifle and lovely `hammy` thighs. She moved around the ring using all her attributes, with a free and easy stride, showing plenty of reach and drive holding her top line, elbows neatly tucked in, and was true moving out and back. She is a beautifully balanced bitch that is built on classic lines looking all of a piece and was a joy to “go over” and I had no hesitation to award her the B.C.C. Congratulations. 2 Jennings, Melriding Natasha At Jenivon:- Another typie young bitch, with lots to like about her, many of the same comments apply to her as 1st. She has a correct conical head with a dark almond shaped eye and a kind expression. She has a nice arch and reach of neck; fore quarters are okay and she has a good length and spring of rib and short loin. Her hind quarters have good angulation and are broad and well developed. She stands on good bone with tight feet and she moved out in profile with reach and drive, elbows in to maintain her top line and was true moving out and back. A nice bitch that I am sure would be an asset to any kennel. 3 Taylor`s, Rien Ne Va Plus At Niatona.

NB (6,3) 1st Mitchell`s. Bronia Abriana:- This was another lovely red bitch from this kennel and is a litter sister to my puppy bitch and R.B.C.C winner. So very, very similar to her sister. She also is beautifully balanced, is well constructed and angulated in her front and hind quarters and was sound and true in movement. Same comments apply to her as the puppy bitch winner. Won this class with her sound and true movement, and her overall construction. 2 Cumberland`s, Mumysami So What:- Shaded red bitch, quite a little `fidget` on the table, but did settle enough for me to get my hands on her. 20mth old shaded red bitch with a correct conical head and almond eye. She has a good reach of neck and a prominent fore chest, lay back of shoulder is okay and a good length and spring of rib. Her hind quarters are broad and are well angulated. And she moved well around the ring with reach and drive. 3 Gittins, Markidachs Crème De La Crème At Boomerloo.

PGB 1 Kent`s, Lokmadi Jingle Belle:- 20mth old feminine shaded red bitch, who is well balanced and looks all of a piece She has a correct conical shaped head, dark almond eye and a good reach of neck. Her fore quarters are well angulated, with a prominent oval fore chest good width through and a good length and depth of keel. She has a good length and spring of rib, a short loin, and broad well developed hind quarters that have good angulation, a good turn of stifle and depth and width of thigh. She moved around the ring showing plenty of reach and drive, elbows neatly tucked in holding her top line and was true out and back. 2nd Gleave`s, Stargang Krystal Kisses:- Another nicely made Black and Tan bitch with lots to like about her. Same comments apply, but on the day, I preferred the movement of 1st. 3 Hudson`s, Tekel Town Raindrops.

LB (12,2) This was a lovely class, and I was splitting hairs in the end to sort them all out 1st Russell`s, Rusteck Tea Cake:- This was a lovely bitch, black and tan and was presented in lovely gleaming condition. She has a conical, houndy and feminine head, a lovely dark almond eye with a good arch and reach of neck that flows into her fore quarters. Her front and hind quarters are well constructed and angulated, with a prominent fore chest, a well laid-back shoulder, and a good length and well sprung ribs. Her hind quarters balance with the front and are broad and well developed with a good bend of stifle and hammy thighs enabling her to move around the ring with a free and easy stride, showing plenty of reach and drive maintaining her top line and was parallel out and back. A lovely sound and honest bitch, who is well balanced with nothing overdone. Was close up in challenge. 2 Blackburn-Bennett`s, Stargang Song Of Ice N`Fire:- Another beautiful black and tan bitch same comments apply to her as 1st very hard to split, but on the day I preferred the outline of 1st 3 Mills-Jones, Carlita Welsh Princess.

OB (8,2) 1st Blackburn-Bennett`s, Stargang Mary Rose:- Another lovely class, three bitches all of a type and again much “hair splitting” to sort them out. 1st was a mature, red bitch who is built on classic lines and good bone to give her a lovely balanced outline. Her head is houndy, and feminine a dark almond eye, and a good reach of neck, that flows into a well laid-back shoulder and a prominent oval fore chest that has width through to a good length of keel. Her shoulder is well laid back, with a good spring of rib that is carried well back to a short and strong loin. Her hind quarters are broad and well developed with good angulation and a super “hammy” thigh. She stands on good bone with neat feet and moved with reach and drive holding her top line and was true out and back. 2 Kent`s, Lokmadi Magic Dragon:- Red bitch, with a lot to like about her. smaller and more compact than 1st, balanced in out line with plenty of bone also built on classic lines. Her head and eye are correct with a good arch and reach of neck and well-constructed and angulated front and hind quarters. Her fore chest is prominent and well developed, ribs are well sprung and carried back to strong hind quarters which she used to move around the ring showing reach and drive holding her top line and was true out and back. Close decision between these two, but today I preferred the balance and more elegant outline of 1st. 3 Herrington`s, Kathington Just By Chance.
