Thank you to all the exhibitors for giving me such a large number of entries, to The Smooth Haired Dachshund Club for your invitation and hospitality, and to my stewards for your fantastic help. This was my first time awarding CC’s to Mini Smooths and I thoroughly enjoyed my day. The overall standard of dogs brought under me were excellent quality. Due to there being quite a few large classes where I was spoilt for choice, there were a lot of excellent dogs and bitches who were worthy of places that unfortunately were missed out, as I could sadly only award five. There were a few youngsters who looked very promising, and also older dogs who (although did not get the CC’s on this day) I am sure will go on to achieve their titles in due course.
Veteran Dog or Bitch (3,1) 1st: PHILLIPS Stargang High Hopes of Robinswood. Correctly proportioned head with dark almond eyes. Arched neck flowing into a well angulated front with tight elbows. Correct ribbing which extends well back, moving into strongly constructed rear which allowed him to move around the ring with drive. Overall a nicely balanced out dog, free from exaggerations. 2nd: FOSSETT Lokmadi A Boy Named Sue JW ShCM. Fantastic underline and topline that was maintained throughout. Masculine head with correct ear set and shape, well angulated front with ample width throughout. Good spring and length of rib, short loin. Moved well round the ring with purpose, it was very close between the two but I just slightly preferred the rear on 1.
Minor Puppy Dog (3) 1st: PROTHEROE Ginco Mikey Boots at Royalmaple. Super head with almond eyes and a kind expression. Elegant neck, well filled out at the front with ample forechest and well placed shoulders. Ok ribbing, excellent rear angulation with a good turn of stifle. Moved excellently with drive, very sound coming and going. 2nd: CHARLESWORTH Keydax Satchi. Another promising young pup, nicely compact and free from exaggerations. Dark almond eyes, correct ear set and shape. Good front angulation, excellent lengthy ribbing and a short loin, ok rear. Fantastic underline and level topline, creating a pleasing silhouette. Just preferred the rear on 1. 3rd: JENNINGS Marvale Northern Cardinal at Jenivon
Puppy Dog (3,1) 1st: MASON Teckeltown Master Piece. A tidy front with correctly placed shoulders and ample width throughout. Elegant neck that flowed well into the body, good amount of ribbing moving into a strong, well angulated rear. Great topline and underline, with a good amount of ground clearance. Moved excellently round the ring with purpose, showing correct reach at the front and drive behind, which won him the class. BP & RBPIS 2nd: MAGRI Bronia Cellini Rozamie. A well balanced dog, correct proportions from muzzle to skull, dark almond eyes, ok neck and front with tight elbows. Correct ribbing thats well developed for his age, good rear angulation. Overall a sound boy with some very good points, just preferred the movement on 1 on the day.
Yearling Dog (3) 1st: STEPHEN Bedu Tiger Roll. An attractive boy, nice size with a good outline. Super head with an intelligent expression, correct ear shape and set. Well arched neck, correctly placed shoulders and good spring of rib. Correctly angulated at the front and rear, moved around the ring with drive. 2nd: BULLIS Amaffrey Will I Am. Well proportioned head, sound front with good depth of keel and tight elbows. Good body proportions with a correct ribbing to loin ratio, ok rear angulation with sufficient turn of stifle. Overall a balanced outline and free from exaggerations, just preferred the rear/hind movement on 1. 3rd: STEVENSON & MITCHELL Rioday Dishy Master Digby at Penwooddax

Correct feet and sound front assembly, plenty of width throughout with ribbing that extends well back. Short loin and correct rear angulation, well balanced topline and underline. A little fidgety but moved excellently when he got going with drive behind and a good reach at the front, which won him the class. 2nd: BAND & MCCARTHY Carpaccio Red Alert for Essandsee. A little smaller and more compact, but with a pleasing outline. Correct eye shape and ear set. A tidy front with correctly placed shoulders, good ribbing that extended well back, short loin. Sound quarters with good rear angulation and turn of stifle, moved ok and was tidy coming and going. 3rd: ROGERS Beachdax Red Hot Blaze at Mynyddstud
